President Edgar Lungu has reiterated that government does is not responsible for determining and fixing the maize floor price.

President Lungu said it is surprising that the opposition political parties are calling on government to dictate the maize price without involving farmers who grow the product.

The Head of State was speaking yesterday afternoon at Kasenengwa Primary school where he had gone to drum up support for the Patriotic Front (PF) council chairperson candidate Saul Zulu.

Mr. Lungu noted that the creation of Kasenengwa as a new district will bring about the much needed development in the area.

He stated that the district will get facilities that include a district hospital and schools to cater for the growing population.

The Head of State has since urged residents in the new district to come together and identify a place that will house the district offices.

However, President Lungu has castigated people that are fueling divisions in the Patriotic Front (PF) in Kasenengwa and further called for peace and unity in the party.

The President stated that he has received reports suggesting that the party has formed two groups consisting those that are said to belong to the late Kasenengwa Member of Parliament Victoria Kalima and those calling themselves PF.

The Head of State, who thanked all the candidates that had showed interest to stand, further advised the PF candidate Saul Zulu to embrace all party members especially those that had applied but were not selected.

He said Zambia is one hence all citizens should embrace the ‘One Zambia: One Nation motto.

The President has also praised the people of Kasenengwa for conducting peaceful campaigns and urged them to continue with the same spirit.

Speaking earlier, Members of Parliament from Luangeni, Mambwe and Sinda appealed to the electorates in the district not only to vote for the PF candidate but to also turn up in large numbers on day of voting.

The President was accompanied by the Presidential Affairs Minister, Freedom Sikazwe, Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu, Minister of Local Government Vincent Mwale, PF National Chairperson Samuel Mukupa, senior government and party officials.

The Kasenengwa election has been necessitude by the creation of the area as a district by President Edgar Lungu.

  1. Is this all lungu does , campains ?

You never see him directing the opening of much needed factories or assembly plants. If he is not travelling he is campaigning…….

Lungu , create the 500, 000 jobs you promised instead of expecting foringners to do it for you…

    • Of course govt is involved in fixing the maize price by FRA. The same govt stops people from exporting grain if prices are more attractive outside Zambia.

    • He believes only in delivering and telling gullible people niceties he will never go on a public podium to tell people the tuff and sometimes necessary hurtful decisions that he has to make due to his own mismanagement …he is like a granddather. Ba Lungu … U can only appeal to those people with short memory you are the one who had pushed the floor price of maize to K85 for campaigns and u took the credit for it when the price came down to K65 he insisted that it was part of ending subsidies and he was not going to change it …I guess u catch the drift about this man leading u visionlessly

    • The opposition talks from different openings! Most of the time they are talking from the tribal perspective.

    • @Sharon, what did Victoria Kalima do to Lungu kanshi?? He left her funeral to go with Kaiser and Findlay to Kenya, now he start blaming her of forming a group?

  2. Am sure it pains HH and his blind followers too much upon seeing ECL’s mammoth rallies across Zambia!!!
Bo Inonge also had a mammoth rally in Mwinilunga yesterday!!Numbers in politics do not lie-PF is by far the most popular party in Zambia today especially in 6.5 provinces!!
I cant wait to vote for Miles Sampa on 26/07/2018!!!oluza azibika(Chileshe Kangwa kabanana)!!!!

    • Where are the 500,000 jobs ? No one cares about your silly rallies.

Campaining 24/7 while the country sinks deeper into dept and employment at a all time high ? That is what bothers.

    • Just look at the PF rats celebrating thousands of loafers , unemployed youth attending their rallies ??

And you wounder why , after spending $17 billion , the corrupt lazy theives are hoping for a measly 4% GDP dependent on external factors ….

    • Njimbu so apparently the popularity of the PF should be what matters to all of us?? At some point most of these useless governments world over have once been very popular including Hitler. I don’t give a f@#k whether PF is popular or not or if UPND gets one vote or wins …. What I Care about and what you should too is where this country is headed to and who is in the driving seat and How they are driving. Your fixation of who wins or loses is asymptomatic of the typical cader more like the preoccupation of who wins a football match it only provides you a false sense of gratification but to what end. Ba Njimbu leg us grow up ! Those of us that can be on the net and even type something shud show we can move this country to the next level not next election

    • Hazaloser Hagain! He is going into retirement in 2021. The police must be prepared to manage last kicks of a dying horse.

    • Frankly my dear, HH does not care about size of crowds. He cares about getting the masses of our people put of poverty.

That’s what should worry us all including you. If poverty is not tackled, you and the rest of Zambia look foolish. And AVIC will keep stealing from us while we continue holding rallies.

  3. Alalila owe uyo (spaka and Kainde) …cikonko mwikate….uyo…..song goes on!!!!
It is campaign time bo ” Spaka like lilo” as we have elections next Thursday so president Edgar Lungu and many PF senior officials are campaigning in many parts of Zambia!!!
Your Kainde has lost hope and GBM is too slim and broke,so UPND’s campaigns are not visible!!!!
More embarrassments (defeats) are coming UPND’s way next week-mark my words!!
Those jobs, factories you are talking about are works in progress.PF is seriously doing that badaala!!

    • GBM will be the new leader of the tribal grouping in 2021! Kekekee I do not know if they have been coaching him how to be one! He may need to go to the hospital and get a blood transfusion. Because that thing that HaSpakata, HaJayJay Mweetwa have is in the blood and it runs in the blood line.

  4. Just look at the PF rats celebrating thousands of loafers , unemployed youth attending their rallies ??

And you wounder why , after spending $17 billion , the corrupt lazy theives are hoping for a measly 4% GDP dependent on external factors Like metal prices and weather……

    • By all accounts if these corrupt theives lead by lungu had any worthiness , after spending $17 billion there was no need for them to even campain…..yet we see them campaining non stop to thousands of unemployed ?

  5. “I WAS USED, CHEATED AND DUMPED BY HH” says Daniel Munkombwe. UPND will never form government as long as HH is at the helm of this grouping. People across the country even in my province North Western province are skeptical about HH due to him being a tribalist and leading a tribal grouping. His Strategy is now to adopt Bembas in a bid to dilute the tribal tug associated with him and UPND; in chilanga bye election he adopted Charmaine Musonda, a bemba but lost the election, In the Lusaka Mayoral election he has adopted Pastor kangwa , again a bemba but he will lose miserably. HH is using and cheating Bembas for his political survival but all in vain as he keeps on losing elections KKKKKKKKk. VIVA PF NOW AND 2021

    • I would love to see HH or any of his leaders correct the “false statement” that UPND leadership made to prevent SAKWIBA SIKOTA, then a Vice President of the Tribal Grouping from becoming the President of UPND. The leader had said, “UPND is for TTON’AS & SAKWIBA SIKOTA, YOU ARE NOT TTON’A, SO YOU CAN’T BE PRESIDENT OF UPND!”

  6. “President Edgar Lungu has reiterated that government does is not responsible for determining and fixing the maize floor price.”

This lazy dingbat has no shame …he didnt say this in 2016 he was busying bragging about the floor price and there he is in Kasenengwa for a so called working visit yet his govt has already gone overbudget. He will come back from Kasenengwa straight to Lusaka to campaign till Wednesday …what a useless President!!

    • Telling from such hateful comments, no wonder why HBP is taking its toll in Zambia. People are just inviting it upon themselves. What a pity.

    • Mbil Yakale – It seems you are enjoying your lazy self and are clueless about how these farmers work, you will only relies when they stop growing maize. Why should I get HBP …Lazy Lungu does not pay me, try something else if you want to engage people in debate not that “he is bitter” nonsense.

    • Lazy bum insolent tribal hooligan bully son of a polygamist father cum online tribal disseminator of a tribal grouping hurling insults at the president Hagain! I am glad that the tribal grouping will lose Hagain!

    • No matter how much you talk ill about the president he will be the president and the other little boy will NEVER!

  7. Really laughable, why the did he intervene last time and increased the price by K5? So in short he is saying FRA is not part of government? Who funds it then. Just accept the the coffers are dry and face the reality prospect of being harangued by the farmers. Eastern province in the bread basket in Zambia in as far as maize is concerned and the K65 you have given the farmers is a mockery. All the money has gone to eswatini kkkkk.

  8. The non performing opposition should urge all well meaning Zambians not to buy mealie meal from millers but to buy maize from farmers directly or even to buy the maize from the market places then take it to their local hammer mill for processing. Sata wanted to remove the monoploy of the millers by setting these solar milling plants but evil forces (the millers) have influenced decisions which have affected the price of maize today which is why the solar plants are not being used effectively.

  9. He traveled to ‘drum up support for a council chairperson’? Then he flippantly mentions the floor price of maize. Get back to Lusaka, sit down and answer loads of questions!! This gallivanting on useless ‘missions’ is ridiculous to say the least. Is this governance? On the road all the time for things best dealt with by district officials.
