President Edgar Lungu says the PF government will not work with those vying for the position of council chairperson on independent tickets in the July 26th election if voted into
office.

President Lungu says he is aware that in their campaigns, some independent candidates in newly created districts say they will work with the ruling party if elected but states that the PF will not support any independent candidate.

“ I am aware some independent candidates are saying they with the PF if elected but we will not support any one of them if they win, “ stated the President.

The Head of State said this at Emusa Day Secondary school when he addressed a rally to drum up support for PF candidate Chimwemwe Banda.

He notes that the PF made some mistakes in 2016 in the general elections and in some cases adopted wrong candidates saying the party was beaten by independent candidates who were supported by the party.

Therefore PF members who have not been adopted not to contest on independent tickets but should instead wait for their time, he said.

And President Lungu has assured the people of Chasefu that government will expedite the construction of the Lundazi/ Chasefu/Chama road whose works have stalled.

A committee of Ministers has to this effect been constituted to look at the developmental needs of the newly created districts with road rehabilitation and construction works in the new districts taking the committee’s priority.

Earlier, senior chief Magodi and chief Phikamalaza commended President Lungu for the many development activities that have taken place in the district since he assumed office.

They cited the upgrading of Nkhanga rural health center into a fully established clinic, the electrification of Egichikeni with solar energy, the expansion and upgrading of Egichikeni Primary School into a Secondary School and the construction of Chasefu boarding School as some of the notable developments that have taken place in the district.

  1. We shall send it into retirement Mr. President! Come 2021! You are doing a great job, Sir! Stay strong, “Bonse aba ni bangwele!”

    • Lungu is certainly not the sharpest tool.

If people are not adopted by a party, and they feel they have something to offer, surely they can stand as independents. Expel them from your party if you want, but stop warning people like you are a God. Far from it.

    • Wrong Statements from the President we are a Democratic country and he should encourage diversification. what kind of a leader is he? Its disappointing that he can say such.

  2. What’s the guarantee that you will adopt popular candidate’s or rather not repeat the mistakes you’ve been making?

  3. I disagree with president Lungu here. Every Zambian has a right to contest a public political seat. Those that were not adopted by the PF or any other Kangaroo party should stand as independents. It gives Zambian people viable choices and options. Jesus and Zambia first. Lungu PF, UPND, FDD and other little parties last.
