Stop coercing the Church to work under incapacitated ZCID -OYV

Insistence to have ZCID lead the dialogue process is misplaced

The continued insistence that the Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) should be the one to lead the dialogue by some sections of society especially those sympathetic with the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) party, including the Republican President is not only sad and unfortunate but also a mere scheme to denounce and frustrate all efforts by the Church to take Zambia and Zambians out of the political impasse to the ‘promised land’ where dialogue is concerned.

It is quite shocking that some people want the incapacitated ZCID to invite the Church to the dialogue table when the opposite should be the proper and acceptable way. The explanation to this is nothing but selfish agendas.

Operation Young Vote (OYV) stands with the Church (the 3 Church Mother Bodies) on its wise stance and God guided move to initiate a transparent, impartial, genuine, all embracing and result yielding dialogue that benefits the whole nation and not a smoke screen aimed at hoodwinking citizens and world as a whole.

The move by the Church is long overdue. In any case it was clear that the invitation of the Church and coercing it to work under the ZCID initiated dream was meant to paint a picture that the process was genuine when in fact not. It is inconceivable to compel the Church to work under some unclear terms and expect it to be impartial as its outcome.

Since it is inarguable that the Church is not only bigger than all of us as individuals and stakeholders but also our shepherd towards justice and love it only just that it be allowed to initiate and take charge of the dialogue process.

It must be emphasized that the Church has the capacity that cannot be questioned as by nature dialogue and reconciliation are its day to day mandate and obligation bestowed on it the God Almighty. It is also a fact that such magnitude of dialogue and engagement was handled before by the Church.

OYV will support every genuine dialogue endevour by the Church and would like to appeal to the Church to remain steadfast and repel all manner and scheme to be dragged into temptation by those bent to procrastinate the dialogue and reconciliation meant to heal the nation and benefit the citizens.

  1. ZCID want to be player and referee at the same time.
However we all know the puppet master controlling ZCID.They can allow an independent party to guide the dialogue process

    • This dialogue issue is clearly showing a lack of leadership from Edgar, can he for once be president and do the right thing!

  2. Zambia’s dialogue should be about job creation, reducing debt ,fighting corruption, improving healthcare and education plus better housing. This other dialogue about politician’s interests is selfish nonsense.

    • Babwana Enka, that can only happen in a politically hygienic environment. For instance, if you invite investors they should have confidence in the Judiciary. When votes are stolen and buried in a grave, as alleged in Kalulushi elections. Action needs to be taken by the relevant authorities; police, ECZ, courts. Voters shouldn’t be made to look like fools, only there legalise fraudulent elections. I am sure we can guess the outcome of the Zimbabwe case, another circus. Africa, how long, how long?

  3. Isn’t ZCID a MMD-PF sponsored NGO? How can it be trusted to deliver a credible dialogue process when some of its members have been openly Pro-MMD-PF?
We only know the Church as the most neutral and credible mediators for this important peace-making exercise! They have done it before and we have the confidence they have the credentials to deliver, unlike the little known ZCID whose credentials are doubtful! We don’t want experiments with our national peace!

    • Aren’t some of the church leaders Upnd members? Come on people let’s not behave like we don’t know what’s going on. In fact the PF and Upnd youths have done a better job by abandoning violence. Otherwise what’s there to dialogue about?

  4. Just to remind each other. Church is composed of people like ourselves. Some are as corrupt as ourselves. .they steal, they bribe, they fornicate, they sleep with other people’s wives. …mention it they’re involved. Just recently a Catholic priest in Mindolo, Kitwe was implicated in a case of receiving more than K500,000 by false pretense. In any case what’s there to dialogue about? Or you want the president to give power to someone who has been claiming that his vote was stolen since 20 01?

    • Mr NK = No Knowledge … Kikikiki. So who do you want to be the mediator, Angels? We are not talking about people who are sinless but neutral players and by picking the Church, that is the assumption! Of course no human is perfect but we won’t wait for Angels to be mediators in our dialogue process!

    • Exactly what you have said is my answer. ..only angels can be impartial. Gen Shikapwasha in said Catholics have caused wars. This was in 2010 because he perceived that the Catholic Church was siding with Mr Sata. Thanks.

  5. Politicking 24/7 ,electioneering and endless obsession about Zambia’s politicians has made us worse and poorer. The church is now a guilty accomplice to that crime.

  6. This dialogue talk is cheap, boring and outdated.
Politicians play on the minds of the feeble. They are all cheap. The churches are cheap, the NGOs are cheap and the politicians are fcuked up pieces of scum.

  7. Guess has nothing to offer. He is just like his friend HH. He has been executive director for OYV since 1998, 20 years ago. That is how outdated that OYV is. When you look at him you will notice he is almost 50 and yet he is ed for oyv. Shameless

    • They want democracy without being democratic themselves. That’s the fallacy of these NGOS. Last month we saw one of them demanding a huge payment after being thrown out.

  8. THE CHURCH IS ALSO NOT NEUTRAL.
HOWEVER, EVEN THE DIALOGUE IS NOT NECESSARY BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING TO DIALOGUE ABOUT. VOTERS SHOULD JUST PREPARE TO VOTE IN 2021. TO EITHER MAINTAIN THE PF OF KICK THEM OUT FOR ANOTHER PARTY. NOT THIS NONSENSE ABOUT DIALOGUE MEANT TO IMPRESS HH.

  9. This is what happens when you have an opposition that is negative and trashes institutions that which have a purpose. Because the some churches are sympathetic to them, so they are ok. Judges are corrupt, ZCID has no capacity, ECZ is corrupt, all except anyone who supports the useless opposition. THIS DIALOGUE MUST JUST BE CANCELLED OR HAVE THOSE WHO WANT TO WORK WITH ZCID HAVE TALKS ASAP SO WE MOVE ON!!!

  10. Dialogue is a waste of time, money and resources. It is not about dialogue it wants! It is about the presidency! We have many intelligent men and women and must NEVER be bought into the delusion or wishes of a chronic loser who wants to damage Zambia’s peace which we have worked for very hard and for years have been a beacon and envy in African politics. What a waste!

  11. WHAT SHOULD WE DIALOGUE ON ? THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY IS IN PLACE AND FUNCTIONING SO TALK ABOUT WHAT?? LETS MOVE ON PEOPLE , START MOBILIZING YOUR TUMA PARTIES FOR 2021

  12. It’s quite unfortunate that people can’t see the scheming between the church and the UPND. We have representatives of the church who are biased and have political inclinations, how do we expect such clergy men to be impartial? The church has been compromised and the best it can do is recuse itself if truly it’s the church that was founded on Peter’s rock. The holding of private meetings with a known political party by the church has made it difficult for stakeholders to trust it anymore. The illusiveness and maneuvering by the church is of great concern and raises questions as to what agenda is the church trying to push. The UPND has been discrediting the ZCID yet has failed to withdraw its affiliations from ZCID.
The founders of ZCID were some of the best brains Zambia…

The founders of ZCID were some of the best brains Zambia ever produced and had envisioned unity of purpose and the need to nurture and grow our democracy. It’s very disappointing that the current church has failed, may be the church must rethink as to who should represent them. The church…

  14. These are men of GOD we need to elevate them above any other ….we should trust them the same way we close our eyes in church at their instruction…..

    • Examples are there to trust the clergy and politicians less. The leader of Myanmar is being stripped off the honors bestowed on her when she was in opposition. Very soon the Nobel Prize will be withdrawn from her. She is completely different from what she was as opposition. Today massacre of innocent people has increased and she justified this as a fight against terrorism.

  15. what was the objective of creating ZCID.? The answer should be the starting point for any dialogue process otherwise we will be just going in circles and achieve nothing in the end because of rampant mistrust

  16. My take is that if these guys are not serious, let them just stop the whole dialogue issue because its now becoming an irate. You mean the two groups can not even compromise to find a common working ground ( can not even dialogue between themselves) and yet we are supposed to trust them to facilitate a National dialogue. How can a nation develop like this when one task is taking years to resolve? We have thousands of problems that need consented efforts from the citizenry and if each one takes this long to resolve, then we are very doomed.
