The initiative by the church will curb illiteracy levels in the community. Most MPs when they are voted in office do not come back to their constituencies to thank the voters who put in office. I’m assuring the congregants that government will soon get into talks with the Ministry of Education to send teachers at the school to give the school a status it deserves,” he said.

Malanji said the construction of 1×5 classroom will commerce at the church grounds to help the vulnerable children.

Later, there was jubilation in church when the law maker announced that each member present in church will go home with a bag of mealie meal and money to buy relish.

And in his homily Chipata Catholic Priest Mwewa Songe implored his congregants to lead honest lives as his church will continue praying for leaders in government so that they lead their people well.

Fr Mwewa appealed to government to consider upgrading Chipata compound into a township as it has a lot development programs taking place in the compound.

He said the gesture will go a long in alleviating the lives of the local people further thanking the area MP for the donation assuring him that will be used for the intended purpose.

    • @ Mushota, Yes because of him. Malaji was a destitute this January, ask his wife.
But this is better way of distributing wealth than buying that Russian diesel driven jet, not even a church choir will be flown in it.

    • Is that money not enough for him to get a block making machine, so that those njombaz in the church would find a far more important and helpful way to survive, than giving them gaga, very soon they complain that the Somalians and Lebanese have taken up businesses which can be done by local Zambia, you mean there was no single muntu to think in those lines mu entire church.

    • CORRECT; ALL BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT LUNGU’S CORRUPTION!!! WHEN WAS HE ELECTED MP THAT HE’S MAKING THE DONATION ONLY AFTER LANDING HIS CABINET POST?! PROCEEDS OF KICKBACKS AND PLUNDER!!! CAN’T YOU SEE, MUSHOTA?!

    • WHY DON’T THE RED PARTY WITH A THREE MANSION SYMBOL MPS DONATE?
You shall see them by their fruits. They only want to give when they get to power. Reject the deads. They would lead us astray.
      BRAVO JOE
Blessed is the hand that giveth.

  1. Robbin Hood!! Steal from them and give to the poor….
This is better, so ACC don’t do anything about this money laundering? Follow the other guys.

    • When you are a foreign minister for Lazy Lungu you accrue a lot of allowances in travel and soliciting for trips in other countries.

    • Lazy bum illiterate tribal hooligan bully thug son of the tribal polygamist father who never taught him toilet training pooping in public HAGAN. Someone pass me a diaper please, I need to change the little bay boy HAGAIN.

  2. Why not use the K50 000 wisely to help the vulnerable in your constituency? That money could be used to open a youth center that could assist the youth in acquiring basic skills or better still provide basic agricultural inputs that will yield a far better return than those miserable 500 bags of maize that will last a few weeks. A foreign Affairs minister should surely be a better thinker than this but yet again his employer can only think that far.

  3. wasted money …. that money planted into stocking books can go a long way. when is Zambia going to wake up from this religious docility? Educate the masses and this will benefit them in a much more realist way!

  4. HOw does an MP donate food …where is he getting money from? Who was he before he joined govt? You steal from them then donate to them!!

Unbelievable! Where did he get all that money from for him to become Oprah Winfrey or Father Christmas? What will happen after the 50kg bag of corn flower runs out in a week? Will he go back and donate some more? This type of donation should be investigated by the ACC (if we had an independent and competent one) as it almost amounts to bribery. And the church should be doing better by rejecting such political donations.

As others have pointed out, he could have donated agricultural supplies and/or buy books for the new school. Sh!thole country for shizzle!

  6. And you wonder why they want you to be poor and they are increasing their salaries, buying cars and jets so they can bribe you with foods to eat for a day…some docile simple minded foooools on this thread are already congratulating this thief.

  7. It has dawned on the Minister that people are suffering and are struggling to get the basic of needs. However, the action is not sustainable and only takes away people’s dignity.Teach them how to catch fish type of empowerment.

  8. When the church receives handouts from politicians, it is compromised. We saw in in Chiluba days. Now where is Oasis Forum?

  9. GRZ should open an account for these theives to be putting money in instead of them donating food if they want to help communities. These food donnations are
    Making people lazy.
Food donations should be banned and encourage cash donations in a created account instead.

The money can be used to pay for tailored education and training of street kids and young mothers in artissian skills.

  10. Ba UPND, anything good from others is poison to you, what type of tompwes do have kanshi? You keep looking for a fly in the relish, surely you will find it and dont blame the other guy who just gets on the business to quench his hunger. HH has made this tribal party a serious laughing stock on the continent, its really a sad story for the T0ngas. They are getting old, frail and poorer by the day because they cant cease the opportunities others are seeing all in the name of Hitler.

  11. I can see from the comments above that you don’t know Hon. JOE MALANJI.
He is a big businessman and former ambassador. He is not a poor man.

The man decided to donate mealiemeal and build a toilet for the congregation.hHe has also promised to help the church to construct a 1 x 5 classroom block.
Why should you complain and start outlining how is should use is money. If you have better plans kindly donate and implement your plans.
Hon JOE has a very strong community touch. I know politicians who are even richer than JOE but have never donated anything to the poor. Especially the rich thieves in the opposition, you know them.

  12. @ Zambia FK. We do not care whether he is a big business man or bill gates associate. What we care about is the fact that he is a man entrusted with authority over an entire constituency and he chooses to satisfy a handful of congregants with money that would have been better utilised to benefit the masses in his constituency. Had he done that without mention of political language then we would not question his shallow thinking.

  13. I’m not a fan of politicians buying gifts. It looks like they are giving a gift of $1000 with one hand while the other hand is stealing $100 000 from the public.

Do something that benefits the constituency as a whole.

  14. How far will that mealie meal go? Buy them mealie meal every month then. That ZMW50,000 would have made sense if he had complemented the church’s effort towards the school. Like buying computers. Trying to buy votes.
