First Lady Esther Lungu greets residents in Pambashe Constituency in Kawambwa District

First Lady Esther Lungu says she has passion to uplift the living standards of women in the country.

Mrs. Lungu said this has prompted her not to stay in State House but go round the countryside to interact and appreciate the living conditions of marginalized people especially women and the young girls.

Addressing women clubs at Chitotela village in Kabanse ward of Pambashe constituency in Kawambwa district this afternoon, Mrs. Lungu said she wants to see that women are empowered to stand on their own.

She has encouraged women to work hard and become self-reliant than just depend on their husbands and handouts for survival.

Mrs. Lungu who was accompanied by Pambashe area Member of Parliament, Ronald Chitotela also donated cash and food stuffs, text books and health materials to women clubs, schools and rural health centres respectively.

The first Lady also urged parents and guardians not to force their girl children into early marriages but allow them go to school.

She noted that the future development of the country lies in the youth.

And area Member of Parliament Ronald Chitotela has assured President Edgar Lungu of maximum support from the people in his constituency.

Mr Chitotela who is also Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister says the people of Pambashe were totally behind the leadership of President Lungu because of the many development projects he has initiated in the constituency.

Mrs. Lungu was showered with gifts and a bull by the people of Pambashe in appreciation for the good work she was doing and as the first sitting First Lady to visit the area.

  1. How many women? And what is government doing. Hunger is at its worst in Zambia – this statement is a non political statement.

    • We all know how precious presidents campaigned using wives. Handouts are worse than purposed programs that teach skills one can use for life. I prefer that route. Sad Zambians love handouts: it’s what poverty stricken minds aspire for. Sad!

    • I am PASSIONATE about uplifting Edgar’s behavior.

    • But sure madam first lady, why is your husband so greedy and selfish?

If he carries on stealing public money and abusing his office, please make him sleep on the Sofa.

I have no problem with you madam, but your husband, kaya…

    • Good job madam! Let’s do you cannot please everyone in this country especially TRIBALISM prone supporters of UPND. Let’s develop this thing. UNDER FIVE is UNELECTABLE and UNLIKABLE. He is CHILDISH too. An H-opposition leader writing a letter to a country that has done more good to his nation than any other in recent memory just like a Prof HANSONI did to the UN on a University letterhead proves how dull the boy is and is unfit for leadership in Zambia.

    • Mutinta’s husband is very greedy. He store Privatization Funds and took it to a TAX HAVEN land of PANAMA. That is how greedy UNDER FIVE is.

    • They showered her with gifts and a bull, after she donated food stuffs, books, kikikiki. What kind of empowerment is this, Sharon explain using illustrations, 20 marks

  2. Mrs Lungu looks like she genuinly cares about women and the girl child, unfortunately her husband doesnt care and is busy buying planes for $400 million, Mama Lungu, please ask your husband to change his mind, as a wife you are more powerful than you realise and can really influence your husband. Zambians are angry and your husband really needs to start caring for the poor. Remember people dont hate Lungu as a person, we are sure he is a nice man who you can enjoy a beer with, they hate Lungu and his currupt ways.
Just today he sent people to close NRDC what is happening, cry my beloved country.

  3. HH looks like he cares about Zambia but he wants Zambians to show him the bedroom so he can keep wipe it clean HAGAIN. Last time we showed him the living room and the kitchen, he took everything to PANAMA. Want to show him the bedroom now? Hell no!

  4. Politicians should choose their words before uttering them.

if some of the woman New the internal working of the government, they would not take that statement rightly.

    Perks vs non perks.

  5. Feminism is just another form if western tribalism. Does nothing but to sow discord and polarise our families and society.
How about some equality? How about supporting ZAMBIANS irrespective of what sex they happen to be ?
