district council recently.

Chief Chibale of the Lala speaking in Serenje district, Central Province has appealed to government to rehabilitate the feeder roads.

The chief bemoaned that most of the feeder roads in his area are in a deplorable state and need urgent repairs.

Chief Chibale identified the road from his palace leading to the Great North Road as not having been worked on for many years now.

Speaking with ZANIS over the weekend, the traditional leader said the poor road network in his chiefdom is posing a threat for investors to invest in his area in particular and the district as a whole.

“I’m appealing to the government to upgrade the road from my palace to the Great North road into a bituminous standard as the current state of the road is scaring away investors,” Chief Chibale said.

And Chief Chibale noted that though he has got powers to issue land to potential investors, he cannot approve more than 50 hectares of land noting the influx of foreign investors in the country.

Meanwhile, Chief Chibale disclosed that the just ended Central Province expo was a success.

The expo held from the 8th – 13th of October, 2018 was coined “Accelerating investment for inclusive and sustainable development” helped to unlock economic potential for investment through increased private sector participation in the province.

  1. They are waiting on their paymasters to give them another China ExIM Bank loan at an inflated price to the Chinese Contractor so they are in no position to repay

    • Poor state of the roads is a serious challenge to development, Chief Chiwala recently complained on the same subject. The feeder roads are not being graded properly, this short cut business is causing problems in the long run. They grade a road only to make it worse than the way it was before. No enough is enough. And you wonder what are mayor, MPs etc doing? Nothing because they are the ones who give the contracts to these fake contractors.. it takes traditional rulers to raise these complaints, what a shame on the so called elected and appointed govt officials!
