Shepolopolo drawn against Nigeria and South Africa at 2018 Women’s AFCON

Shepolopolo have been drawn against defending champions and record winners Nigeria in Group B of the 2018 Women’s AFCON tournament that Ghana will host from November 17 to December 1.

It is the second time Shepolopolo will face the record 12-time African champions at the AFCON after losing 6-0 in a Group A match at the 2014 finals in Namibia on their way to making a preliminary round exit in what was also Zambia’s last tournament appearance.

Also in Group B are COSAFA champions and four-time runners up Banyana Banyana South Africa.

A grudge match is also in store in Group B for Shepolopolo who will face Kenya for the second time this year after a 3-0 home loss to the latter in a friendly played on March 25 at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Shepolopolo will actually open their campaign against Kenya at Cape Coast on November 18.

Nigeria will follow in their penultimate Group B match on November 21 at Cape Coast before they close their preliminary round race against Banyana on November 24 in Accra.

The semifinals will be played on November 27 that will see Group B runners-up play winner from Group A in the first game in Accra while victor from Group B will face Group A runners-up later at Cape Coast.

Cameroon, Algeria, Mali and hosts Ghana comprise Group A and will be based in Accra.

The third-and-fourth playoff will take place on November 30 at Cape Coast while the final is set for December 1 in Accra.

  1. Wish you well girls. Chipolopolo won the Africa cup in 2012 as underdogs. No one talked about that team prior to that tournament.

  2. Shepolopolo; you are on the verge of qualifying to the world 2019, by being in the last eight, where the best three teams will represent Africa. Go Zambia!
