Zambians are equally to blame for the hardships they are going through-Elias Chipimo

The National Restoration Party President Elias Chipimo says Zambians are equally to blame for the hardships they are going through because they voted for the PF Government into Office.

Mr. Chipimo said the challenges began when Zambians believed that electing the PF into Office would mean that they cared about them, that they would be corrupt but not very corrupt, that they would be authoritarian but not very authoritarian and that they care about the fight against corruption.

He said Zambians made a mistake by believing that electing them even though they were visionless, they would operate in the best interest of the nation.

And Mr. Chipimo said his party will soon write to President Edgar Lungu demanding answers why the Chinese are being highly favoured over citizens.

Mr. Chipimo said he will also demand in the same letter that investigations into the death of Vespers Shimuzhila, a 4th year student at the University of Zambia be handled by an independent committee and not the police whose officers have been implicated in the matter.

“When we have written to the President about Vespers, will follow this up with our concerns about the treatment of Zambians versus foreign nationals, why are we spending 1 million dollars on fire tenders, why did we spend 280, 000 dollars on one ambulance, why have we borrowed to borrow a Presidential Jet at nearly 50 million dollars when Zambians are suffering”, Mr. Chipimo added.

Mr. Chipimo has also urged Zambians to write their own letters demanding action on a number of issues among them the shares given to Chinese co-owner of TopStar, the abolishing of VAT in favour of the sales tax system and increasing corruption levels in the country saying it will be difficult for the President to ignore all Zambians.

He emphasised that the blame does not lie with the Chinese but with leaders who are not able to secure the nation’s interests when concluding transactions.

Mr. Chipimo said unless Zambians wake up to the reality that they have all let down the country by allowing corruption and mediocrity, they will never move forward in addressing the root of the problems they face.

  1. This guy should specify the Zambians who voted for pf , why is he trying to beat about the bush, when its a known fact ,just say Zambians from the North Eastern Rhodesia have let us down for voting for pf .

    • When are these people releasing the findings of the commission on electoral violence and regional voting patterns? Nzelu you still arguing then why come up a commission with such a name.i guess you need weed, remember the ugliest the dealer the stronger the weed.

    • When you got quite, I thought you were gonna come back with a bang. If PF falls outa people of this republic’s favour and voted for the deads, you Chipimo would be sounding as awkward as you are sounding this very moment. Right now we don’t seem to having credible alternatives. So ni tiye nayo PF. At least our eyes are open and we can resoundingly say PF is doing just fine and sum it up with a slogan “Viva PF” PF 2021.
We shall treat your comments as political rhetoric. Egocentric mumble jumble. Delirious demagoguery. Tomfoolery utterances. Your are behaving like a freelancer political figure outa touch of reality. Smell the coffee Chipimo.

    • @1 Divide and Rule THOSE WHO VOTED PF VOTED FOR THEM BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THEM MORE THAN THE OTHER PARTIES INCLUDING CHIPIMO’s WHO HAS NO SINGLE MP OR COUNCILOR? Even now if Lungu is removed from the helm of PF and a different candidate stands, a good a number of Zambians would vote for him!! WHETHER YOU CALL THEN NORTH EASTERN RHODESIANS or WHATEVER IF THE CONSTITUTION PERMITS, THEY WILL ONCE AGAIN DECIDE FOR THE PERSON AND PARTY APPEALING TO THEM LOOKING LIKELY TO SERVE THEIR INTEREST!! Tribalism started with those who pitted one region against another in their campaigns and had ascended to leadership on tribal ladder!! Once other saw these trends, THEY USED THEIR VOTE AND NUMBERS TO REJECT SUCH DIVISIVE and DESTRUCTIVE LEADERSHIP!!

    • Mr Chipimo I hope you are infact reading this. There is probably no one else on this forum who has made a bigger u turn on PF as myself. I was one of the staunchest supporters of Edgar Lungu and prayed to God that he would succeed ba Tata ba Sata and lead this highly endowed and blessed land we call Zambia. What has occurred in the last 2 years has been a let down on one major area and that is the elite continue to step down on the poor. You can very well mention the issue of fire tenders as a key example of corruption but at least those fire tenders have a use , the thing is you in opposition fail to identify sanctioned stealing. You are a lawyer so you know there is a thin line between what is unethical and what is legal. I will always give an example of the unnecessary use of Luxury…

    • Ctn…I will always give an example of the unnecessary use of Luxury SUVs by senior govt officers, the cost of buying them, fuel and maintenance in a year can exceed way over 50 million USD if we consider that we have over 2000 senior govt officers (ministers, PSs, DCs, heads of govt depts, institutions, defence and security wings, state owned firms, even MPs etc)entitled to these vehicles, and not to mention the high salaries, allowances each of these apamwambas get etc why don’t you in opposition raise this as an issue? How do you expect a govt to care for the people when the leadership are out of touch with the hardships the ordinary people are going through because they the govt including the opposition MPs are living in a different Zambia altogether, a Zambia of shopping malls and…

    • These hardships in Zambia are a result of tribalism which a known party is promoting to hold on to power. The question is how far will this go without Zambians realising that we are one and vote on credibility not on tribal lines. How long will we pretend to love each other when we meet physically but fight each other on things that matter most. As long as we dont vote on credibility more suffering is there for everyone regardless of where you belong. Muza kumbuka na KK.

    • Ctn… because they the govt including the opposition MPs are living in a different Zambia altogether, a Zambia of shopping malls and Sandys Creations, Sun Hotel, Mfuwe lodge, New Kasama, Ibex Hill etc yes some of us did intact make that mistake but then again what alternative was there? Really HH? Yourself or even Mr Sinkamba? Sad fact is all the above have failed to identify the key areas facing the poor. I can’t recall the last time any opposition leader raised a query on what the bill is on all senior govt officers? How much is the nation spending on them and are we really getting value for money from them? Looking at their poor performance on many fronts- a prison service which always boats about producing a bumper harvest but keeps it’s inmates in deplorable conditions, an…

    • Ctn…a prison service that always boasts about bumper harvests but keeps its inmates in deplorable conditions, an outdated and repressive legal system in need of reform, a lack of accountability on the use of State funds and failure to prioritise on key areas . The state wants to get money in all directions from ordinary citizens, ZRA, Napsa, council fees etc etc but where are they taking those funds? You Mr Chipimo as an opposition leader must do more than just apportion blame on us, rise up as the late Great MCS did and bring out the real issues affecting Zambians.

    • There are people with hardships here too Mr. Chipimo. Some are homeless too. Please send HH and maybe accompany him to come and remove their hardships.

  2. YOU CHIPIMO ARE ALSO TO BLAME FOR NOT GIVING US CREDIBLE ALTERNATIVE, FOR BEING SO PASSIVE IN YOUR ROLE AS CHECKERS AND BALANCERS. FOR PETTINESS AND FOR BEING QUITE. OH CHIPIMO, ARE YOU NOT A ZAMBIAN.
Where have you been Mr. Chipimo? See young man, you have digressed from your father’s upright virtuals. Your father was a great man but you his offspring have sunk so low to have forgotten about your civic duties. Those points you have raised in your article do not lay with the letter to the president. If you have evidence of your claims, raise the bar and drag government to court. Civic duty demands that you act like a patriot not a coward beating about the bush. Take decisive actions if your claims are as serious as you portray them.

    • Hear! hear! The man has been a let down. With all his education he cowers in silence as people with not even a fraction of his enlightenment continue to disregard the law with impunity. Remove the log in your Chipimo then tell us about the speck in ours.

    • Bro don’t you think that Chimo is even much better than some of the opposition leaders who are very vocal with very little to offer in terms of checks and balances, may be no wonder why some of them ends up just insulting the president because they have no credible checks and balances to offer but they just want to be seen talking because others believe that by making noise is what amounts to being an effective opposition leader. I admire Chipimo’s ways of reasoning.

  3. When you got quite, I thought you were gonna come back with a bang. If PF falls outa people of this republic’s favour and voted for the d.e.a.d.s, you Chipimo would be sounding as awkward as you are sounding this very moment.
T.o.m.f.o.o.l.e.r.y utterances. Your are behaving like a freelancer political figure outa touch of reality. Smell the coffee Chipimo.

  4. It is every Zambian’s democratic right to choose who leads this country. To start saying they made a mistake is undemocratic and dictatorial just like the party Chipimo leads which doesn’t present opportunities for other leaders even when Chipimo himself is a total political failure. It is the current rhetoric by a certain minority sector of our society to disparage our govt to convince the population that ONLY they are eligible and able to lead this country. Totally pathetic Chipimo!!

    • Don’t start creating fake idealogies. We wanted democracy and we got it. When your preferred candidate loses then it’s a mistake?? The problem in this country is that certain people believe only they can rule this country. But in reality, thinking like that is a prelude to dictatorship. That’s why Chipimo, hh, Nawakwi, Kambwili etc have no democracy in their parties but want to call others dictators. It’s total nonsense, it’s only democracy when your prefered candidate wins??

  5. Zambians got hoodwinked by “more money in your pockets within 90 days” and being allowed unrestricted street vending which delivered devastating cholera.

    • Mzamani politics is the game of using brains. And zed is one of the best Countries where even a donkey can become a leader provided knows how to package the needed message. There nothing wrong with more money in the pocket. Others in 2011 said they we’d increase salaries minamumfwa k5000. When PF did, the question was where will PF get the money? It’s a business that calls for critical strategising.

  6. In the same vain Zambia ns have been warned against someone who grounded Zambian comapanies and externalised the loot

I will be launching a book on Zambian privatisation

    • How is it possible to launch a book on a subject you apparently have zero knowledge about? Unless you are going to distribute it within PF where IQ levels are really quite low then go ahead

    • One thing I fail to understand in our country is that when someone steals a goat people are too quick to report that person to the police and in no time the fellow is apprehended by the police and prosecuted. But I have been hearing so many people claiming that HH stole money during privatization of the mines, but I have never heard of even a single person taking up a step to report HH to the police or the ACC. It’s like in a community people just says that a certain man practices witchcraft but they fail to confront him. I remember HH putting forward a challenging to any one who claims that he stole the money to report him to the relevant authorities so that he can prove himself, but still people can’t do that but only choose continue labeling him with a thief tag. the same people if…

    • In the same vain you would say tribalism is ok. Because our books of law have not yet outlawed tribalism

Hh was setting the price and selling to himself.

What do you call that. The fact we have no law to PIN DOWN U5 does not mean he is clean

He is a thief. Tax evader no wonder he took the loot to Panama to avoid taxes

  7. It’s called democracy, you make your bed and lie in it for 5 years. Worse when there is no alternative bed. Just look at upnd and its trib.al Hacks and his GBV running mate Mr Corruption himself.
Offer us a credible opposition and we will make the correct bed in 2021. Otherwise the moribund PF will remain the better alternative.

  8. Given the choice between the “evils’ of Rupiah Banda administration and the deep decay/loss brought by PF govt i’d have opted for the lesser evil of Rupiah Banda again and again.

  9. People need to understand that no one group of humans will solve all their problems. Whether NAREP, UPND, MMD or PF, challenges and frustrations will always be there. Remember Jesus’ words, “the poor you will always have with you … ” (Matt. 16:11). Let each person look inside themselves and ask the question: What can I do today to be better tomorrow? Things will begin to change, not for everyone but, for the individual who gives themselves an honest answer and begin to work on it. There’s no magic wand but only hard work in spite of the existing environment. Political connections can work but only for a season. However, sustained economic freedom is largely a result of apolitical efforts!

  10. We never made any mistake ba Chipimo. How can we make a mistake when we have voted for PF 3 times since 2011?Just control your frustrations Chipimo!!We are in a democracy and people are free to vote for a party they believe in.If you still think that by voting for PF,Zambians made a mistake, wait a minute because even in 2021 the majority may vote for PF Govnt again. This is Africa and corruption has been there for years.corruption was even worse under UNIP and MMD,so what are saying? As for Chinese, they work well than many Zambian firms,so please tell us something else ba Chipimo!!!Chinese have built so many good roads, hospitals, schools, houses, etc,so please leave them alone!!
COME 2021 NI PF NAFUTI NAFUTI ESPECIALLY IN THE NORTH AND EAST!!

  11. The first time when Sata was coming into power yes we voted for PF. The other two elections were a fraud. If we are to talk about a mistake it only when we voted out RB. The rest of the other elections were juts a fraud Sir.

  12. Don’t worry, looks like they enjoy suffering and like the way the corruption is rampant and cant even have three meals a day, why advocate for such people, let them suffer….they can vote PF again who really gives a sh!t

  13. You reap what you sow…………….every decision has consequences either good and bad……..Adam and Eve , our foreparents ate the unforbiden fruit and we are experiencing the effects of their actions…….
GOD is not mocked…………….you reap what you saw…………….
Which is the poorest province in Zambia? It is easy to accusse anyone of tribalism and rise to power on destroying other people life such as calling them S.a.ta.nist but fail to deliver……………….every day scandal after another…………….. True christians dont pretend to be humble. their actions are seen…….. You can declare a day of prayer but GOD knows who you are……………….

  14. Imwe bantu pleaz help me napapata….what was that ka song you were dancing with lungu pleas mwebantu ???

    Ohhh yah …..dunnuna reversee yeee…bambi nyikosa bolla…..yeeee

    Music pleazz …..
    ….

    • Yes people sang and danced because they had hope and believed in the PF while they rejected hh and the upnd for the 5th time!! And we are ready to bear the consequences of our choices!!

    • Citizen, citizen, pleas don’t give up hope, just keep dancing and praying….Lungu will deliver

      Music pleas……dunnuna revesee yeeeee…..dunnuna….

    • Citizen, citizen, pleas don’t give up hope, just keep dancing and praying….Lungu will deliver

Music pleas……dunnuna revesee ye ye yee…..dunnuna….

    • Citizen, citizen, pleas don’t give up hope, just keep dancing and praying….Lungu will deliver

      Music pleas……dunnuna revesee yeeeee…..dunnuna….

    • Citizen, who is “WE”?Speak for yourself, today we suffer as though we are coming from a war,a typhoon, drought, famine when the actual enemy is just incompetence and corruption. Some of the crimes you cant even call them corruption but grab and run, like 42 by 42 how does a leadership sink so low even the matrix of where the money went is known.

  15. Where is JK the one who sang dunnuna reversee? After election ECL he just forgot about him just like that not even ka job in the missions………………..Chagwa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. ……….. ‘the abolishing of VAT in favour of the sales tax system’ ….

Chipimo,as it stands, abolishing VAT in favour of Sales tax is the best decision because of Zambia’s weak manufacturing( value addition) base especially when it comes to the mines which prefer exporting base metals as opposed to adding value to these base metals.

  17. Mr Chipimo’s assertions are flawed. I am not a PF or any political party supporter (my view being that there is no political party worth supporting in our country right now). To blame voters is clutching onto straws. For starters the election result was contested and the opposition failed to protect the popular vote. secondly the opposition is failing to use the available space they have to advance the fight against corruption, cronyism, strategic boobs by government and economic decay. The EFF is south Africa with a small minority vote have moved mountains.

    • There is rule of law in south africa and respect human rights not here in Zambia. Where you not cerebrating when HH was arrested. He was was trying to fight for your freedom. freedom of assembly, justice and so forth.

  18. SOUTH AFRICANS ARE ALWAYS IN THE STREETS BURNING TIRES, AGAINST CORRUPTION, POOR SERVICE DELIVERY, AGAINST POOR HOSPITALS, POOR ROADS ETC.

ARE THEY BLAMING ZAMBIA FOR THEIR HARDSHIPS?

  19. Simple truth is that Zambias economic base is too small to support a population of +17,000,000. I remember how we used to jump from one job to another with ease. The goose(mines ) that is supposed to lay the golden egg has become almost sterile. As a result employment opportunities are almost non existent, the money for subsides is not there. To top it all there’s no patriotism unless I am the one ruling the country. You don’t blame voters. …that’s poor strategy. w

  20. Everytime when sense is spoken, all commenters do is character assasination, and throw out the message, with no additions or subtractions to it…..own the message, reflect on it, and decide how to act or not act on it, meanwhile share the views or reasons you have or have not acted on it, without waiting time on non matters…it’s called been responsible palobee..

  21. HH was setting price and selling to himself. As a consultant the proccedes were going to his account as payment for privatizing properties to himself. And then he transferred the money panama to avoid taxes

Just that we had no LAW against such activities just as we have no law against tribalism.

    DESCRIBE HH IN ONE WORD

    A. A Christian

    B. Clever man

    C. Crook

    D. Investor

    Thats a grade 12 commerce question 5Marks

  22. Please sit down Mr Chipimo.

We voted for PF and its not a mistake. Its democracy.

Maybe the PF has made mistakes but that doesn’t mean we made a mistake.

In fact, wait for 2021 so you can see for yourself that we are NOT ready to be led by a hard core tribalist from the South.
We would rather starve to death under any other useless Zambian president than go the ‘only a Tonga can lead UPND’ way.

Zambians are WISE people despite you Mr Chipimo insulting our wisdom. In fact, you are a political wannabe who has no political muscle to influence anything in our country.
Peter Sinkamba is more a patriot than u.

  23. Chipimo young man you were brought up in London when your father was high commissioner if I am not mistaken and I am confident you can do well as Prime minister of great Britain. Africa is different pot of soup with fewe exceptions. Even South Africa is slowly becoming Africa. Theories learnt in college don’t work in African politics. Look at Nigeria, it has oil but there still petrol and diesel shortages. The current president promised to end these shortages, finish off Boko Haram and attend the local hospitals instead of going overseas. You know what has happened. Please try England.

  24. It is a neologism to blame the victims. Zambians pay taxes in order for elected Government to respect the budget as the country undergoes development. The blame game in the first place is not correct. In a democracy, action speaks louder than words. When Government is found wanting, then the logical action to take is holding the same Government accountable in the Court or in the Impeach or in the General Election. Even in the PF, there is room for arguments. Even in the UPND, there is enough room for arguments. The time for alliances is running out. Lonesome voices are disappointing patriotic voters.

  25. Put a frog into a pot, filled with water and start heating the water. As the temperature of the water begins to rise, the frog adjusts its body temperature accordingly. The frog keeps adjusting its body temperature with the increasing temperature of the water. Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog cannot adjust anymore. At this point the frog decides to jump out. The frog tries to jump but it is unable to do so because it has lost all its strength in adjusting with the rising water temperature. Very soon the frog dies.
    What killed the frog?
    Think about it!
I know many of us will say the boiling water. But the truth about what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when to JUMP OUT.
We all need to adjust with people & situations, but we need to be sure…

  26. We all need to adjust with people & situations, but we need to be sure when we need to adjust & when we need to MOVE ON.
If we allow people to exploit us physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually or mentally they will continue to do so.
Let us decide when to JUMP!
Let’s jump while we still have the strength.Let us look at the bigger picture the government scraped off so many subsidies telling us this will enable them to save money for development but look at us now we are borrowing even more and we keep looking the other way and why because they built a few roads and schools from borrowed money when they could have done so much more if they eradicated the corruption considering the large amounts of money they have borrowed besides we still need to pay back the same money…

  27. Elias Chipimo Sr was a great politician and orator who once described KK as a political cunt no one could decipher whether that was an insult or not. Manje the son kuwayayafye. Inchito kumena imfwi chabe and looking 10 yrs older than his actual age.
