Senior Chief Mwamba of the Bemba speaking people of Kasama district in Northern Province has died.
Bemba Royal Establishment spokesperson James Mulenga confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama.
Mr. Mulenga said the traditional leader died of Cancer in India on Sunday where he had been evacuated for specialist treatment.
He described the late Senior Chief Mwamba as a selfless and committed leader, who was very passionate about improving the lives of his subjects.
Mr. Mulenga said Paramount Chief Chitimukulu and the entire Bemba Royal Establishment are currently in a state of shock and grief over the death of the traditional leader.
The body of Senior Chief Mwamba is expected to arrive in Kasama today.
