Copperbelt Police Commissioner Charity Katanga has warned that whoever will be found wearing political regalia when UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema appears for questioning at the Copperbelt Police Division Headquarters will be arrested. Mr. Hichilema will be going for questioning on Tuesday at 09:00 hrs.

Mrs. Katanga said that there was no need for the UPND’s supporters to cause confusion, and that her office has received information that UPND cadres will plan to wear regalia for another political party in order to cause confusion.

Mr. Hichilema has been summoned by Police following his alleged inciting of Kitwe residents to protest the alleged sale of the Zambia Forest and Forestry Industries Corporation limited (ZAFFICO)

Earlier, UPND youths on the Copperbelt warned the Patriotic Front in the province to stay away from Ndola Police station tomorrow when their President, Hakainde Hichilema, will be appearing for questioning for allegedly inciting people to riot over the alleged sale of ZAFFICO.

UPND Copperbelt province Youth Chairman Kelly Jibinga says his party is aware that the Patriotic Front has printed UPND regalia to dress their cadres and cause chaos tomorrow and blame them for their own actions.

Mr. Jibinga said this will not be allowed and they will screen these known elements of violence if the Police will not do so.

“At the same time, we would like to appeal to the Police to place the interest of the country first when interrogating our President because his fight for a better Zambia is meant to improve their conditions of service as opposed to a select few top corrupt PF leaders and some senior officers in the service”, He added.

He said the PF must know that this time around it will not only be UPND members to say no to their illegality but the country as a whole as it is solidly behind Mr. Hichilema.

But PF National Youth Chairperson Nathan Chanda said the the PF are fully aware of the UPNDs schemes to cause violence on Tuesday and blame it on the ruling PF Youths.

“We are aware that the UPND have gotten PF T-shirts to give their youths so that they can cause violence in Ndola when their leader Mr. Hichilema comes for investigations on Tuesday”, He said.

Mr. Chanda has since directed that all PF youths from the Districts, Constituencies, wards up to sections should not wear any PF regalia on Tuesday.

“We know the youths on the Copperbelt love President Edgar Lungu and are proud of wearing the regalia of PF, we want to direct the youths to follow this directive to shame the violence planners. The plans by the UPND is purely to cause confusion and violence, and transfer the blame on PF”, He added.

  1. Zambians need to wake up …although she means well but you can not simply arrest anyone for wearing t-shirt unless its a polling station during election. Police just do you job …calling someone for questioning when you have heard the whole radio show is waste of taxpayers money.

    • What is worrying is that she is warning just one group of supporters.

Both sets of cadres will aim to cause confusion, and both should be warned.

The police are there to serve all citizens, not just PF cadres!

    • Kwati pa Ndola mailo chikaguwa ka. Let there be action please. Pa Z limo limo can be boring, so tu action is always welcome. Can’t wait!!!

    • The police do not know what they are doing. They all need a modernized method of policing your country

      Thanks

      Bb2014,2016

    • Zambia doesnt have such laws. Police must not create their own laws because only parliament enacts laws. A policewoman just cant wake up and decide that today noone will wear black in Zambia unless it is a banana republic. Its not the regalia that causes violence. It is people so just do your job and control the crowds like you were trained in Lilayi

    • She has already taken sides, it is really difficult for cadres even to pretend, no matter how much they try, they end up exposing themselves.

  2. No one should wear legalia including HH and also no flashing of polical symbols!!!!!!!!!!!! Iwe Katanga can you handle this case with care, we are dealing with a political issue here……………… No blood shading please coz HH has rumours of loving blood shade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Madam Katanga has shown wisdom there, but we cant let UPND and PF thugs ruin the peace that we have enjoyed since independence.Kindly beef up security and call for reinforcement. Call upon the army at kalewa barracks,Tug argan barracks and Chandamali barrack in Kitwe. We cant leave chance to these holigans to destroy the beautiful city of Ndola and bring anarchy in our country.

No single individual is bigger than Zambia. Ndola should be put on high alert tomorrow with the presence of our men in uniform seen at every corner of the city.
If HH is found wanting please lock him up. No one is above the law.

  4. Politics of thuggery is nauseating. PF and UPND need to put their houses in order. As the Bembas say: “Ulubuli fiko”.

  5. H/H is innocent if he just prove that ZAFFICO has been sold to Chinese. Bembas say umulandu mume. Instead of keeping his foul mouth shut, he opted to incite people on copperbelt knowing that ECL will be there. If his honesty, let prove to us true Zambians that indeed Chinese has bought ZAFFICO. Bitter person who privitise the mines and other parastatal companies and deposit the into offshore accounts. Zambians how do really support a person who stole the money from your companies and put it into banks outside the country.

  6. There is no basis in law in her call… she is wrong in law……Wearing whatever attire is not a crime…. If you truly passed at ZIALE, you would know what you charge for wearing regalia as you put….. Arrest them and will defend them in court….. Charity you are not the law……we know the law, my sister…..
Even people you think are evil are given a chance to exculpate themselves……
probably you define what a regalia that is an offence when near the police station. MUM you are a shame…..

  7. even in court , you can wear any attire……Assuming you are arrested in the same attire and transported in mukobeko maximu prison and appear at High Court for a false charge of treason. You appear in that same attire , will the court refuse to hear your case until you buy a shirt that the court think fit?
mwana mun you are a joker for real?
shallow thinking is a disease for real…… A simple arrest as if someone has killed a chinese…shame on you junior cop?

  8. with the hate lUNGU HAS FOR hh , do you think he can let him free if he stole money during privation………. Do you know that a criminal offence has no limitation in prosecuting it….. Since HH stole during privation, ask LUNGU andd his DPP to take him to court… Compound mentality is bad … Dont accuse other without having the mantle to take them to court…… I prefer court because those whom alleges must prove….Even CK i ask him to prove what he says about LUNGU by asking DPP to take the matter to court……
Sata was accused of so many things and nothing prove him guilty……….. Imagine someone accuses you of defiling and has no audacity to take you to court, you simply regard such a one as an imbecile…… Look at tayali you is crying for legal representation for his…

  9. Be in court , you will appreciate the truth…….we argue for client and win cases on merit…. I will always respect the court….. it does not judge on tribe or race…… The state must PROVE BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT….. IF IT CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE IT MUST BE COMPELLING AND STRONG AND BE THE ONLY INFERENCE TO THE CRIME COMMITTED AND THE SUSPECT MUST HAVE COMMITTED THE OFFENCE OR DIRECT CONNECTED TO THE CRIME.
INCITING MUST BE ACTUALLY AND DIRECT CONNECTED TO THE OFFENCE ALLEGED…. IT MUST NOT STAND ALONE. IT IS LIKE CONSPIRACY OR ABETTING OR AIDING……….. LET ME NOT SPEAK MUCH….IN THERE IS NO CASE HERE

  10. she must be acting as a cadre. dont forget all eyes are looking at copperbelt ndola in particular so be careful how you handle this issue.

  11. I’m PF but this woman is not normal. Why do u want just police pipo.Woman can u start using yo brain instead of being used.Women should be in for front making peace for this country but u’re used to cause instability.Come on ba Charity don’t behave like this.Leave HH alone.I don’t support HH but don’t support PF of what they doing. No wonder we need new leadership in PF.Ba lungu has failed to live for our expectations. We love this man but he has dissappointed so many due to his lack of controls in terms system in govt.We do konw that PF is loved but the current leadership should chnage.Whty making HH popular?Leave this man alone coz we do know that HH can’t either make a good president. He can just bring also more division in da country

    • HH has failed to his TRIBAL PEOPLE’s expectation! He must fo back to the land in NAMWALA. Leave the president alone. He is doing a great job for Zambia!

  12. PF and UPND are serious time wasters. Of course there is no alternative in terms of other political parties but still this Childish play has to come to an end somehow. The Police are also not serious, this thing of HH inciting people is as childish as anything childish. It does not hold water at all. It is not even true that people on the Copperbelt heard HH on radio saying something and decided to riot. I am not UPND but there is no grain of truth here for Ndola residents to be put under security threats on Tuesday by this Police.

  13. Zambia is a peaceful state but if a certain group of individuals start behaving like terrorists, the Head of State should deploy its supreme forces before they head to Mbala for WWI.

  14. robmwale@13, I agree with you. Certainly, this will be an interesting case it at all it takes off. In criminal law, incitement is an act of persuading, encouraging, instigating, pressuring, or threatening someone to commit a crime. A person who incites another to commit an offence is quilt of incitement. The inciter must intend others to engage in a behavior that constitute an offence. Focus of the offence of inciting is solely on the acts and intention of the inciter. The intention of the person incited is not relevant. Now, HH is alleged to have told a lie on radio station in Ndola that ZAFFICO has been sold. How was the alleged lie an act of persuasion or instigation to Chimwemwe, and not Ndola residents to riot? Credible evidence on HH’s intention and its link to Chimwemwe rioters…

  15. Whats the Proof to show that HH incited the Demonstrators in Kitwe while he was in Lusaka? The Demonstrators in Kitwe are ZAFFICO Stakeholders who are afraid of loss of livelihood if ZAFFICO is privatised, bought and takenover by the Chinese Investors. They are fearing to loose their jobs. They know Chinese Investors will import Chinese labourers to replace them. Thats how Chinese operate.

  16. So she has information that UPND youths will wear PF regalia to cause confusion but she has deliberately not mentioned that there is also information that even PF youths might wear UPND regalia to cause confusion. Her bias is already visible here. Sorry Charity the position of deputy IG has already been taken by kapeso. You are too late.

  17. In the first place the summoning of HH is none of pf’s issue. Why should they want to go to the police station? To do what? You can kill HH but you can’t kill the truth. Let’s be civilized for once and do things that Will build this country which is crumbling like half baked mud bricks.I used to admire Nathan as a cool young man.Now I have realized he behaves like a cockroach, with no direction. The police have also become the African laughing stock, being pushed around by castes to do wrong things for wrong reasons.Anyway the end is near and we shall have the last laugh. This is how the end manifests itself.

    • No one can kill a small person a small person! He can do that to himself! What benefit can you get from a Guiness World Record Holder of UNELECTABLES?

  18. @ Musa you have said it all. You tell someone lies who is afraid of a particular issue. What do you expect the reaction would be. He deliberately said that knowing very of the reaction.

  19. I will be in Ndola police stationtomorrow by 07:00hrs I don’t care what you will do and I will be in UPND kit.

    • Your action may result in ill fate for you. You may be the sacrifice. Could it be premonition perhaps? Be careful. Beware the Ides of March.

  20. “He said the PF must know that this time around it will not only be UPND members to say no to their illegality but the country as a whole as it is solidly behind Mr. Hichilema”.

Kikikikikikikiki….you must have graduated upwards to smoking cow dunf.

  21. Fellow Zambians this country Zambia is our only home to some of us.You may be PF,UPND or any other party but remember we are one. I love to see the way we interact in churchs with love to be extended even in politics after all we are God’s people. We always go for peace and reconciliation prayers every year but after that we start fighting each other.Lets not allow ourselves to be used as the platform for hatred by our only enemy Satan and his agents.Fight Satan not each other,if Zambian economy is doing we all enjoy if it’s in bad shape we are all affected. We can make politics clean and it starts with you and me.Lets learn to appreciate each others opinions in politics.
One Zambia, one people, One Nation. Zambia for all Zambian.

  22. Chilufya Mulenga – I entirely agree with you. Stop calling others Tonga this or tribe that, cow dung that or this . This kind of talk creates hatred amongst our people now and in future generations. Regardless of what we think these people are let us show them love and respect because we like it or not they are part of us. The only challenge my brother I have is that when people become cadres their thinking is so blurred against their opponents in politics. It would make sense just to discuss the issue at hand than to refer to one’s tribe. Just thinking any way don’t insult me.
