Veteran politician and founding father Vernon Mwaanga and former Secretary to the Cabinet Leslie Mbula have stated that the political leadership is key to addressing political violence tribalism and regional voting in the country.
Mr Mwaanga said both the ruling and opposition leadership need to prioritize the fight against political violence by preaching peace to their members and the country at large.
He said the fight against violence , tribalism and regional voting can be can curbed through what he termed as equitable geographical distribution of appointments in the civil service, diplomatic service, parastatals and cabinet.
Mr Mwaanga also submitted that the appointment for nominated Members of Parliament be increased to 10 from the current 8.
He justified his submission by saying that 10 will allow chance for the President to nominate people from areas he feels have not been represented equally in key decision making positions.
And Ambassador Mbula says civil servants should at no point get involved in politics as government is not a political party.
He said the civil service should work professionally and not engage in politics.
The former Secretary to the Cabinet further said leaders have a key role to play in uniting the country through dialogue.
Vernon Mwaanga is just a finished political cadre prostitute who doesn’t deserve to be given space anywhere.

We need to give retired politicians and other technocrats space to tutor politicians. VJ and Mr Mbula are the two public figures that we should be queuing up to for counsel and guidance.

Politicians promote all negative vices afflicting the country and instead of hiding behind pathetic excuses of being advisory for the leadership’s excesses let the leaders firmly address the problems through straightforward statements that separate administration of mandates equitably by responsible government organs!
Vernon please be truth. The last time PF gave cabinet positions to 3 Upnd MPs, these MPs were expelled from the party and even lost the following elections. Just recently a Upnd District Chairman was suspended from Upnd for attending a civic function officiated by Edgar Lungu. He should address these concerns to his fellow tribes man. PF have appointed local people as provincial ministers even in areas where it doesn’t have members of Parliament. Vernon your are actually part of the problem for having insinuated the need for “your people ” to rule.

Let us not be too quick to label others are tribalists. Within any ethnic group of tribe are tribalists and non-tribalists. There are tribalists among Easterners, Northerners, Luapulans, Muchingans, Southerners, Northwesternes and other regional groups. Tribalism is not only among Southerners. Non-Southerners who want to label Southerners tribalists do so probably because they want their own to continue to be in power and do not want to give people from other regions to be in power. I am a Northerner and wish we could all learn to co-exist.
