The Teaching Council of Zambia will tomorrow launch the issuance of Practicing Certificates for registered teachers beginning with Kasama in Northern Province, Mongu in Western Province, Solwezi in Northern Western Province, Choma in Southern province and Mansa in Luapula Province.
Pursuant to Section 15 (1) of the Teaching Profession Act No. 5 of 2013 “a teacher shall apply to the Council for a Practicing Certificate in a prescribed manner and form upon payment of the prescribed fees”.
Teaching Council of Zambia spokesperson Ngoza Malonga said this will be phase 1 of the issuance exercise after which TCZ will embark on a country wide issuance of the practicing certificates to the rest of the teachers.
Ms. Malonga said during this exercise, the TCZ will still continue to receive applications forms from new entrants, verification of TCZ numbers and clarifications of any other queries.
She said the Council will also use the occasion to distribute Code of Ethics to teachers in those areas.
Ms. Malonga urged those that are not yet registered to immediately do so, as unregistered teachers are not allowed to practice in any educational institution in Zambia, whether public or private.
She has also reminded all those who are not registered to quickly finalise the process as it is a legal requirement to register as a teacher.
