The Road Transport and Safety Agency has given a grace period of 14 days within which motorists and fleet owners should acquire motor vehicle and trailer licences (road tax) and road service licences for the year 2019.

All motorists, fleet owners and Public Service Vehicle Operators have been give an extension of up to 14th January, 2018 to pay for the required licenses.

RTSA Chief Executive Officer Zindaba Soko said there will be no enforcement of the validity of said documents until the stated grace period has expired.

Mr. Soko said the Agency is providing this grace period to accommodate the licensing needs of all motorists and fleet owners.

He however said the extension does not include the certificate of fitness and the test certificates as the two relate to road-worthiness and the safety of the vehicle.

Mr. Soko expressed hope that the public will utilise the extension to comply with the law.

He has also urged motorists to renew and pay for motor vehicle and trailer licences for the year 2019 in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002.

  1. Good news Ratsa but move with times and bring purchasing of motor vehicles online with payment via airtel , zamtel or mtn money to avoid congestion and time wasting at your offices. You can design an app where someone can upload the insurance certificate to show it’s valid and the system can check if fitness is valid. After verification mobile payment can be made and the disk printed out.

  2. RATSA is the most corrupt agency in Zambia. It is extremely DANGEROUS to issue licences to people who have not passed the driving test. RATSA should be held accountable for the number of deaths in accidents. Most of the drivers in those accident got licenses through bribes. Truck drivers, coach drivers, motorbike riders have to pass a different test to car drivers. A truck is a specialist vechicle and should only be driven by a person who has PASSED the specialist driving test for truck drivers!

  3. Just revamp the flying doctor service and never use zaf choppers to transport pf cadres like jk during campaigns.

  4. Gvt should put system to curb corruption in police and RTSÀ.

  6. We need to split op to face specific problems eg state house intelligence unit for political issues, trade unit 5o due with goods in and out and technical transfer, traffic intelligence to check on ratsa /police who in most cases run taxis ,minibuses and continue troubling people in various ways.
Sad that a secretary to the ?IG who owns Minibuses is troubling a family who lost. Goods stolen by her driver on 30/12/18 in the show grounds after being booked. This chap boost that nothing will be done the owner is a boss at central police.
Really we need a change in the police they have gone too far showing poor supervision system and luck of checks in the system
