Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili says Government is determined to see Zambia united and the Christian nation status actualised.

Mrs Sumaili said institutions like Scripture Union should join hands and help government in taking advantage of Zambia being a Christian nation by preaching the word of God to unite the country.

ZANIS reports that the Minister said her ministry and the Scripture Union have been given a mandate of preaching peace in the nation by evangelising the word of God.

She was speaking in Lusaka today when she officially flagged 15,000 daily power books to be distributed to learning institutions.

The Minister also donated K10, 000 cheque to kick start the distribution exercise.

And Mrs. Sumaili stated that society has a critical role in shaping the future and direction of children.

The Religious Minister noted that adults and elderly people in Zambia have a duty to ensure they inculcate good morals and behaviours in children.

She said young people are at high risk of being swayed and engage themselves in bad vices of excessive beer drinking, taking illicit drugs and become disobedient because society has neglected them.

And Scripture Union of Zambia (SUZ) Board Chairperson, Alistair Kambobe disclosed that the Union has targeted school youths by reshaping them into responsible adults as they grow.

Bishop Kambobe noted that the country cannot be united and transformed if children are left behind as they are the future leaders.

Meanwhile, SUZ Resource Mobilisation Chairperson, Steve Ndubeni disclosed that the Union is scouting for K51, 000 shortfall to execute the distribution exercise to all parts of the country.

The flagging off ceremony held at Lusaka Girls Secondary School was witnessed by SUZ Vice Chairperson, Chikelwa Kampeshi, SUZ National Director, Womba Lukwesa, renowned clergyman Bishop Christopher Sichilima and for SUZ Board Chairperson, Margaret Siwale.

Last year, the Union distributed 10,000 biblical books to primary and secondary schools in districts and provinces of Zambia as way of reaching out the gospel to the children.

    • PF under Lungu has actualised the use of religion as opium for oppressing the poor and those who oppose the PF regime.

PF has murdered people directly and indirectly with endorsement of the ministry of religion.

How come you around preaching about a christian nation headed by a Lungu the drunkard and womaniser?

I will only believe your message once Chakolwa Lungu stops getting drunk and stealing tax payers money.

    • Hypocrites when leaders cannot see eye to eye. Don’t fool God. The actions of Zambian do not make that country a Christian Nation. True Christians would want to share, abide by the 10 commandments and lead by example as modest leaders.

  1. Everyone know Zambia is a Christian Nation – no need to waste money on actualising this ( or is this just another way to fill pockets ??).

  2. Get rid of both the religious affairs and presidential affairs ministries both are a total waste.Use the savings to build classrooms.

  3. The creation of the ministry was a good idea in a way because we have some sanity and a reduction in fake West african pastors flocking to our country and extorting money from the poor congregants.
But this ministry in my opinion has a wrong person for the job. She is very weak and has failed to give direction to the church bodies that fall under her ministry. The CMB has wrongly assumed a superior position , all because of her weakness and perhaps incompetence.
The church just like any other organisation must be controlled by the laws of the land.
The CMB has shown total disregard of this ministry and is now in the political fray calling the shots.

    • Great improvement. Instead of fake West African pastors, now we have fake Zambian self appointed Bishops and self “anointed” convicts. Lets roll

  4. Give to caeser what belongs to Caeser, ms Sumaili please know what the Bible teaches. You have a greater calling than to the ones you are bowing to
