Police say Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Lawrence Sichalwe committed an offence of being in possession of a pornographic video by virtue of him sharing it .

Mr Sichalwe is alleged to have posted a pornographic video in a WhatsApp group.

According to media reports , Mr. Sichalwe claims to have mistakenly posted the video.

But Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo is of the view that whether Mr. Sichalwe posted the video by mistake or not , he committed an offence of being in possession of pornographic material.

She says there is no way a video can be shared if he wasn’t in possession of it.

She says since the law is not segregative , Mr. Sichalwe may be prosecuted even if he is a minister.

And when reached for a comment on phone , Mr. Sichalwe told diamond news that he had no comment since everything is already on social media, and hung up the phone on the TV Reporter.

    • Ministers in possession of pawno videos on cabinet cell-phones.
We told you, there is nothing those PF ministers do except watchy pawno and drinking fi whiskey.
      No one to fire them.

    • I will confess I enjoy P0RN every so often, but it has destroyed a lot of men in developing countries. India is the worst at consuming it and look at how they have been r@ping women.
Young men in their 20’s have ED now because of it, work productivity has gone down because of P0RN addiction and colonizers couldn’t be happier. Most young men have no idea how to satisfy a woman because they think love making is what they see in P0RN scenes.

    • Where is that Minister of Guidance Godfriah to provide…really laughable..just running affairs of this country everything is done deceitfully. Over the weekend we had dull Brian now this …clearly no leadership at the top even Amos can swear like a Kaponya on this streets.

    • Zambian Police/judiciary is biased: It 2 sides: a lenient/sympathetic side for the rich, the politicians & Chinese/Lebanese and a harsh/brutal side for the poor Zambians. Just last week a Chinese was fined K2000 for cannabis cultivation but when a poor Zambian is found with 2 balls of weed he’s jailed 4 to 5 years for “drug trafficking”

Nothing will happen to this minister, who by the way introduced Lungu to politics when he was a destitute after losing his Lawyers license after stealing K36,000 from a widow. In 2009, When Hon. Sichalwe was MMD Transport Deputy Minister, he kept a destitute Lungu in his garage in Chawama for 2 years & took him to campaigns.

    • Still no news from State House…Lazy Lungu is only swift when someone is ambitious and has intentions of challenging him!!

    • So what are you waiting for? Instructions to arrest? Are you not the same ones who arrested the Innocent fire tender protesters and were put to shame by the law?

    • Ati Christian Nation! The minister of religious fimofimo should issue a statement. Is she there only to police Zodwa wabantu? Employed to ignore the logs in PF members but examine the specks in those outside PF

  1. Convict him so that he can lose his ministerial POST. These PF awe sure

And he has big daughters honestly .

I have no doubt president muliokela can do better

  2. Position has opened up for a young UPND MP to be promoted to minister. This will not only be goodwill, but a great boon for Zambia. kikikikikikiki.

  3. He should undergo the same treatment young Iris Jezebel Kaingu underwent. No sacred cows, as president Lungu says. Kikikiki.

  4. Acite teto a Sichalwe: lembani resignation then do presentation of self to nearest police cells for formal charge! Tizaweluza kusogolo ndipo! No sacred cows baba… Minister of Religion and Affairs, over to you kaili!!

  5. These are BBCs ( Born Before Computers) they don’t know how to use iPhones. Bwana Minister get a Nokia 3310 to avoid such embarrassing moments.

  6. Sichalwe is only human. It’s probably normal for him to share such things with friends but unfortunately this particular one leaked out. How many of us secretly enjoy such content? It’s a pity that he will be prosecuted over something that should have remained in a closed group. Let’s remember that he wasn’t posting it for the public to see. You can now crucify me too????.

    • For me it’s not secret. I’m an adult I can make up my mind about sex issues. The government can’t be thinking for me. If those inside the borders of Zambia agree that government should set bedroom rules for them nizao

    • The point is – it is illegal. There are laws/acts in Zambia a number of people don’t agree with but that’s the law for all. The tragedy of our times is that these are the same lawmakers who will vigorously support bad laws when the moment suits them. Lawmakers must be the last people to be on the wrong side of the law.

    • @10.2 forget it! That is a discredited argument always argued to suit authority but not for the masses. There was a law across Africa that stated that blacks were not equal to whites. People like Minister Given Lubinda wouldn’t have been born had their parents obeyed such colonial laws. In south Africa It was called apartheid so you are saying we blacks needed to obey it? Kwisa? Atase! Unjust inhuman laws should be fought no matter where

  7. Come on police Esther Katongo, this is a minister – priviledged, vvip, not like you and me. Even when you are sick they do not evacuate you but they quickly do so for a minister. Get the point Esther? LEAVE the minister ALONE!

  8. How I wish the corruption allegations could be taken this serious by so called PF youths…”what the government is doing” group…. Say what…really, as in seriously…. You want to crucify the Minister over such when nearly everyone has such and watch such hourly on their phones???you creating a storm out of a tea cup over nonsensical issues……the man has apologized and that won’t deny anyone a right to shelter, health, education and you want to sound like you too righteous and just????common on…we not morons for heavens sake…is this the only wrong in the country right now that needs stone throwing by the righteous??? I don’t think so….. If you want to hound the man out just do it in humane manner not accusing him foolishly for no cause at all

  9. A man is just a man, never flawless in all his ways and thoughts. Compared to the scandals that other public figures around the world committ/ have committed, this one was just a Kindergarten party.

  10. I do not support the public corruption of morals in a wider deviant way, or when it involves the young, but sharing adult content on a private whatsapp group is not something the police should be wasting resources on. There are loads of serious crimes out there that the police have failed to pursue. Judgement and common sense is needed on this – the degree of the matter. Not knee jerk reactions that you think make you appear to work.

  11. They say an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. The man is bored because there is nothing to do in the ministry. In order to keep himself busy he unfortunately resort to such issues. I wouldnt be surprised if his counterpart in the ministry of religious affairs is not part of the whatsup group. These are two ministries which do not make an sense.

  12. This is a straight forward case for litigation. And the police spokesperson should not use the word “may be prosecuted”, she should just state the dishonourable minister WILL be prosecuted. Yes, he is innocent until proven guilty, but there is compelling evidence in this regard which makes him very liable for prosecution. Ignorance is no defence, so whether he unknowingly sent the video or not is really neither here nor there. Fact is, it was in his possession when he posted it. Let’s not waste time here. No one is above the law.

  13. Is it confirmed that it is true? We are very fast to comment. This reminds me of people who were saying only 29 teachers were deployed in Southern Province when it was about 200. We should learn to investigate before sending comments.
