Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Mrs. Esther Mwaata Katongo has said that the cause of the accident in which Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba was involved in last weekend has not yet been established

In a statement to the media, Mrs katongo said that the accident happened around midnight on January, 19th, 2019 near Grand Palace Hotel and the person involved was Brian Mushimba of Brentwood who was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser GRX V8 GRZ 881 CP.

“He was driving from North to South Direction. He sustained injuries on the right hand and also complained of body pains and he was rushed to U.T.H. The cause of the accident has not yet been established”, she said.

And Transport and Communications Minister Brian Mushimba has said that he is recovering well in a South African hospital after what he called a nasty car crash.

Mr. Mushimba who is admitted to Awryp hospital in Johannesburg tweeted that he will soon be out of hospital.

“our prayers are much appreciated at this time as I recover from a nasty car accident that severely injured my right arm. I’m so thankful for your prayers. It could have been worse. I ask for blessings upon you and yours in return,” he wrote.

“I’m humbled and strengthened by these kind words. I will be with you soon as we create the cyber space we all desire that is free, productive and full of innovations,” he added.

Mr. Mushimba was on Saturday night involved in a road accident after his vehicle flipped on Lusaka’s Thabo Mbeki road.

    • Awryp Hospital (Kempton park Johannesburg) costs K30,000 per day. There are between 30 to 50 Govt-sponsored patients at any given time, the whole year. Now they’re even treating Drunk driving accident victims!!!!

Do the maths, (k30,000x50x365=K547,500,000 per year). They are minting from our VISION-LESS Govt.

    • I assume this guy is right handed. And I think he wasn’t badly hurt if can tweet like that. Also what kind of useless doctors does Zambia have that can’t fix a broken or dislocated arm?
Wasting tax payers money on a drunkard committing adultery in the middle of the night and wrecking a government car. This guy should be fired. And he seriously needs to leave God out of this.

    • It’s not true that the Police have failed to establish the cause of accident. There should be something they are trying to hide. He must have been drunk, and they can’t just say it.
There is no collision with another car, so what happened?
      The accident happened at midnight???

    • Really laughable…Surely how can he go to RSA over a bruised arm, is UTH that bad? the only reason he has run to Awryp hospital in Johannesburg is he was driving under the influence of alcohol and excessively over-speeding on a residential area road….a bus accident happened around the same time as dull Brian’s and cause was established. PF ministers are enjoying life and have excess money to play with…yet we have dull cadres here who can not even afford a UTH medical bill for their relatives supporting blindly.

    • If a minister can get away with drink driving in our GRZ vehicle …what of the average Joe Public, in any private firm you would be in problems but not this govt of drunks and adulterers

    • Don’t worry guys, Honourble Kampyongo will put your concerns to rest. We need to give him support as he does resolve issues. Watch him make an impromptu visit to the passport office in Lusaka on youtube. Way to go, Honourable!!!

    • Come back. You sound fine. Reduce on tax players mula. Quick recover though.
How I wish South Africa brought their ailing leaders here in Zambia for what you term specialist treatment.

  1. No other vehicle involved, time and place of the accident. Come on , this is a no brainer here. This Katongo madam should have just issued another statement similar to the one she issued on that pervert Minister Sichalwe, i.e whether by mistake or by accident, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol in Zambia is an offence and another PF Minister broke the Law.

By the way we are still eagerly waiting for Police’s next move on Minister Sichalwe

    • I am sure the Insurance company’s accident investigators where that GRZ vehicle is registered wouldn’t waste time spending their people to see the vehicle or accident as this is clearly a fault accident just by reading the accident report.

  2. This is the reason the minister of home affairs is saying you not serious. Somethings are best left not commenting on. Stop behaving like you talking to kids who can’t reason. You talking to people with different views with sound minds.

  3. That’s just plain stup*id. Zambian cops can’t investigate anything. They’re dull, uneducated and incompetent.
You would have been better of keeping quiet than exposing your dullness ZP.

  4. Perhaps the reason they have not determined the cause is the blood alcohol scale doesn’t go that high? Or that no one in ZP or at UTH had the b’lls to run a test because of cowering in front of the minister…

  5. This is really taking people for granted, seriously he is even evacuated after damaging expensive government vehicle.By now in a serious country the little pevert Sichalwe and mouth Mushimba would have been fired,it appears we need to fire Lungu himself.Even firing fake Bishop Chomba he has failed…

  6. Do you need forensic investigators to determine the cause of road accident involving one car?I am very disappointed.
    Choose
    A. Mechanical failure
    B. Inexperienced driver
    C. Over speeding
    D. Driving under the the influence of alcohol or drugs
    E. Driver fatigue
    F. Complacent – not following road rule

    • This is one thing I like about Britain…anything like this the Police would have acted swiftly and the doctor on duty at UTH would have been called in for questioning I mean how do you treat anyone without taking a a blood test especially an individual involved in an accident.
Drunkenness and careless driving is not tolerated in Western countries especially drink driving…but we have the so called “Christian Nation” whatever that means where the Police is openly lying through its teeth.

  7. Tax payers money is being abused even on drunkards. The man was drunk and he lost sense of judgement. Let’s not waste money on ministers who are careless. Why not take him to UTH and remove some levels of alcohol in his blood system? It is a big shame that even injuries which just require massage someone has to be taken to SA. Let him be dropped for wasting tax payers money.

    • Really laughable these are the people handpicking Directors to run your National Airline…incompetence from top to bottom..you have a drunk for a President what do you expect!!

    • Life is precious, if you don’t drink, most likely your dad was is or was a drunk. You would not say they no treatment because there drunk at the time of the accident. Remember more that 80% of Zambian are drunks.

  8. You people are plain evil. I pray for you that the hand of God touches you and removes these evil thoughts. Let’s pray for his recovery instead of this nonsense. I can’t believe as a people we have become the sadistic.

    • Pray for someone who endangers innocent lives by driving under the influence… and avoids prosecution because of being a “hon” minister. Who is being sadistic here?

OK, if he was sober let’s hear the reason for the accident.

    • He can afford to go to RSA on taxpayers time for reckless driving and drunkness BUT will never payback one dollar to replace that vehicle….this all goes down to that responsibility remember those ministers who overstayed and never paid back those salaries (with the support of that lazy man in State House) as ordered by Concourt. They now take everything for granted…they are above the law!!

  9. We should all pray for sinners lest we also be judged. Get well soon Sir, and God looks upon all of us. It’s ironic though, that the Minister was driving along ‘Thabo Mbeki’ Road……and now he is in SA for treatment! Why not take that as an omen and stay in Zambia for treatment?

I hope commenters are not assuming wrongly that they are footing the bill via tax. It could be self financed from the inflation busting generous ministerial pay packets.

    • I have been self nursing a Rotar Cuff injury to my shoulders and a stiff neck. NHS here in the UK are yet to give me an appointment for therapy as they are short on appointments due to cuts. It’s been 9 months of pain where my doctor has tried to comfort me and tried to encourage me to take paracetamol for the excruciating pain (I believe in wholistic and prayer treatments months of taking paracetamol us anethema to me and my liver).

Lucky you Sir out there in Africa running off to private clinics.

    • I happy to say, my prayers seem to be working as I now only have moderate pain and moderate nerve pain sensation. I am still waiting for that therapy.

Okay without being too polite, can PF have a serious cabinet meeting to discuss their response to citizens repulsion on this type of insults/shortcomings to our healthcare services. Act with dignity and egalitarianism. Equality for all. IMPROVE OUR HEALTH SERVICES NOW. This is why UK started complaint of unpaid bills from medical tourism from Africa. Not long before South Africa does the same when you run out of money for these jaunts.

  10. Indisciplined Minister(D&D)
    Damages expensive GRZ Motor
    Gets evacuated and keeps job.
    -POLICE failed
    -UTH failed
    -GOVERNMENT failed
    -RATSA failed
Will President Edgar Changwa Lungu fail to act on his minister as well?

    • Hon. Mushimba, these goons have already killed you. If you never survived it, this is what they would be talking about you, in your death. They hate you to the core. Change.

  11. Before losing job.
    Charge him for D&D,
    Replace damaged GRZ motor,
Pay for his own evacuation and treatment,
Then seek God’s forgiveness with help of Dr. Sumaili the EXORCIST.

    • Hon. Mushimba, these goons have already nailed you to the cross. If you never survived it, this is what they would be talking about you, in your death. They hate you to the core.

  12. First class treatment while we are dying at UTH. Whatever went wrong to have these guys in power. Sure even drunkards can be sponsored to be treated in SA just because they are ministers. Look at that huge bill at the end of the day. Can it not be enough to handsomely pay our local doctors to do a good job in Zambia. My heart bleeds when I hear of such reckless spending even on drunkards misusing government petrol and car. That hospital is worth K38,000 a day in terms in services. What about food and air tickets for maids and house boys. Thats PF for you. Pro poor government!!!!!
Just like Maloza above. Arithmetic K30,000 X 10 X 70 = K21,000,000 for just 10 days for over 70 government patients. Mind soe you dont hear that they are on government ticket but there are there. Multiply this…

    • Just like Maloza above. Arithmetic K30,000 X 10 X 70 = K21,000,000 for just 10 days for over 70 government patients. Mind soe you dont hear that they are on government ticket but there are there. Multiply this by 36 that what we are throwing away and we want donors to help !!!!! Yes K 756,000,000 per year!!!!
      Mwanya.
      Disaster!!!!

    • It’s in the budget. Respect and take care of your leaders. Even if you know they may not make it, fly them to SA. Maybe they might just survive. But seroiusly, Hon. Mushimba, these goons have already killed you. If you never survived it, this is what they would be talking about you, in your death. They hate you to the core.

  13. Field day for Jay Gay. Trouble is he cannot he trusted. Reason? Well you can’t tell whether he is talking trib.al rather than facts.
But trust what I am hoing to say..why are the police selective? The other day the police spokeperson was embarrassing Hon Sichalwe today the same woman is protecting Hon Mushimba for a more clear offence.

    • I told you not to refer to me in your posts but you can not help it as no one reads your rubbish without referencing others….why cant you post what you want to say about Police without me in it? Please stop referencing I dont want anything to do with you and your retrogressive rotten mindset.

  14. Unbelievable! Evacuated to an SA hospital for an injury to the hand and ‘complaints of body pains’. Why don’t all these privileged PF officials and others connected to them in one way or the other, just move to South Africa? A self-serving, self -indulgent cohort who have total disregard for those they are meant to serve. The biggest tragedy though, in all of this, is the ‘quiet’ populace, a selfish ineffective civil society and a decaying impotent parliament.
