The Patriotic Front says it has learnt with shock the demise of Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba.

The PF says it is particularly distressed as her death comes a few days after the death of High Commissioner to Ghana, Rayford Mbulu an icon who greatly contributed to Trade Unionism in Zambia.

Party Secretary General Davies Mwila recalled how when the PF formed government in 2011, embarked on a mission to expand space for women in the area of leadership and decision making in all spheres.

In a message of condolences to the bereaved family, Mr. Mwila said Mrs. Muntemba was subsequently appointed as Police Commissioner for Southern Province that same year alongside five other deserving Senior Police Women Commissioners.

He said as a conscientious worker and a team player, she served in other senior positions in the Police Service.

In February 2015, President Edgar Lungu continuing with the Gender Sensitive PF Manifesto and the legacy of his predecessor, appointed Ms Muntemba into the Foreign Service as Zambia’s envoy to Kenya; a position she held until her untimely death.

He said her congenial personality won her the affection of many Zambians from all walks of life through her motivational talks, radio presentations and the books she wrote.

And Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja said the Zambia Police is saddened on the death of Mrs. Muntemba who was until her demise, serving as the Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya.

Mr. Kanganja said Mrs. Muntemba will greatly be missed by the entire Zambia Police Service and the nation at large.

  1. Looking at this woman’s CV online you wonder what such an intelligent police officer was doing abroad behind a desk in an Embassy like Stellar…these are the people who should be IGs not that dull yes bwana chap Kanganja.

    • Kekekeke ati YesBwana Chap.
Stella Libongani was solid and cool.
But this Brenda was better, for me I wish she was appointed Home Affairs minister.

    • Am told this is the woman that arrested that thug PF is honoring in Kitwe…Maybe Sata would have appointed her but he already had the disgraceful Libongani at ZP not this lazy one who is intimidated by everything including his lanky shadow…as am typing he is busy packing his bags, practicing his dance moves and planning on what he is going to do at nite spots in EP this weekend.

Who wrote this piece? Sunday Chanda…if Lazy Bum Lungu had any brain cells in his head not depleted by Whiskey he would have appointed her where her skills would have been best utilized.

    • Lusaka Times…always add a short paragraph, explaining how someone died. Don’t assume that all your readers know. How did she die? Hello? And how old was she? Poor Journalism. My condolences to the grieving family.

  2. I’m shocked at her untimely death, very shocked death has taken a resourceful Zambian star. But i’m not shocked such a head on collision occurred in Kenya coz they drive like maniacs over there.

  3. She was one of my Sunday school teachers at Lusaka Baptist Church in the early 1990’s. She loved leading us into singing and I used to enjoy it. I met her at Manda Hill several years later when I was now a working adult and she was in the Zambia Police Service…. She remembered me! We had a pleasant chat. In other words, auntie Brenda’s (as we used to call her at School) death is personal. She was a great woman. MHSRIP.

  4. Brenda had a warm personality, but please note that Muntemba was her maiden surname. She was Mrs Sichilembe until her death, let’s respect her husband by addressing her as appropriate. She was much loved by many.

  5. Ms Muntemba must have been a very good Zambian woman, of the first 10 bloggers above, no one has written anything negative about her. MHSRIP.

    • Macgyver I was about to say the same, Let RB or Lungu die. You will see insults, I just have a little idea about her but what people have said about her, I believe she was a great Lady. Not ishi imbwa twakwata mu PF.
