Chambeshi says defeated Nkana were better than Sfaxien

Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi still insists they were the better side against CS Sfaxien despite their quarterfinal loss that saw them eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Nkana lost 2-0 away in Tunisia in Sfaxien on Sunday to bow out at the last eight 3-2 on aggregate and end Zambia’s interest this season in continental competition.

“They put up a good fight and the way I saw the game today, the best team has lost but I wish Sfaxien all the best in the semifinals,” Chambeshi said.
Sfaxien took deserved 1-0 halftime lead when Firas Chawat head-in Habib Oueslati’s corner in the 7th minute.

Nkana’s best chance on goal came in the 30th minute when Hassan Kamis sent his shot inches wide of the left post.

But Sfaxien sealed the home win in the 90th minute through Alaa Marzouki to send Sfaxien through to the semifinal 3-2 on aggregate.

Meanwhile,Sfaxien coach Ruud Krol scoffed at Chambeshi’s argument as to who was the best side on the day.

“Not at all, I don’t agree that Nkana were better, but I think we had more opportunities than they had,”Krol said.

  1. I totally agree with the gaffer. The best team lost even Ruud krol knows very well.North African teams still believe in intimidating the opposing teams by throwing flares on the ground. That’s what they know best and falling like babies even when there is a simple contact.Nkana played excellent football yesterday.Lack was not on our side.

  2. Beston Chambeshi with all due respect please let us not start changing the English saying “MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN” – All that matters is the scores and not the way your players dribbled their opponents and missing the goal posts by inches.
As a good coach you just need to congratulate Sfaxien (for their resounding victory), then issues to do with HOW BETTER YOU PLAYED BUT LOST are bedroom issues to be discussed and resolved with Technical Bench and Players.
I CALL IT RESOUNDING VICTORY BECAUSE EVEN IF THEY HAD SCORED ONE GOAL THEY WOULD STILL QUALIFY ON AWAY GOAL ADVANTAGE; THEREFORE 2 – 0 WAS A MASSIVE WIN.

  3. Comment:l agree with Nkana Coach they played well only finishing touch was missing, good luck Nkana next time.

  4. The best team always wins. Beston, your language will not change the scores. Accept defeat and move forward man

  5. Why they don’t agree that Chambesi is good coach? Chambesi comandeered his less talented charges even when everybody had written them off. Chambesi is the future of indigenous Zambian football

  6. C. General wnjipaya. Ati ..let us not start changing the English saying “MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN”
    kikikikikik!

  7. Can somebody tell Chambeshi to stop this nonsansa, Its the goals that matter, so where has having played well taken you to. You are now behaving like PF, you loose elections and you start terming them ati protest vote, a loss is a loss, period

  8. Every time it`s we will do well next time, when is this next time going to come kanshi? And stop saying ati Likulu you should sat Lyaiche!

  9. Final outcome is what is important Coach Chambeshi , your away record is not impressive. Games must be won at home hence next time work on your weakness regarding the same.

    • The better team won. What’s the point of being clever without results? When I said Nkana were going to be kicked out because they poor in away games, one zealous supporter attacked me. We can only improve if accept our shortcomings.
