UPND focussed on ending poverty in Zambia and not PF’s goal to fix HH

The opposition UPND says it will not be swayed by the Patriotic Front in strategizing how to end poverty and suffering among Zambians.

Party Secretary General Stephen Katuka says while the PF manifesto and strategies are now that of dismantling the UPND and fixing Mr. Hichilema, the UPND leadership will continue strategizing on ending hunger and poverty in the country.
Commenting of statements quoting their Former Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba and PF Secretary General Davies Mwila both saying they want to dismantle the UPND and fix Mr. Hichilema, Mr. Katuka said strategizing for Zambia is cardinal and more urgent than ever before because it dwells on the survival of Zambians.

If by fixing Mr. Hichilema and the UPND  addresses the economic challenges Zambians are facing, the UPND, wholeheartedly welcomes the new PF manifesto of making Mr. Hichilema their favourite breakfast show topic

Mr. Katuka said the problems affecting Zambians is not Mr. Hichilema and as UPND, they are more preoccupied in finding solutions to the PF created debt mountain.

He said the UPND is also preoccupied in finding solutions to unpaid Zampost workers, Council workers, National Housing Authority employees, plus no money in people’s pockets, unreasonable taxes, corruption among top government officials, joblessness among youth, closure of CBU, unpaid farmers, among other issues that require strategizing, than personal feuds based on character assassination.

He expressed hope that citizens especially the youth and women, are all seeing what matters the most to the PF officials as opposed to development, education and health.

Mr. Katuka said Mr. Hichilema gave a very respectable and dignified message of farewell to the former Vice President which has so far been well respected by the party structures and the country at large.

He said Mr. Hichilema realises that his friendship with Mr. Mwamba went beyond politics and included families of both and that is why he has been magnanimous by maintaining a respectable distance from the howling and bawling of GBM.

Mr. Katuka however said that if by fixing Mr. Hichilema and the UPND will address the economic challenges Zambians are facing, the UPND, wholeheartedly welcome the new PF manifesto of making Mr. Hichilema their favourite breakfast show topic and in doing so, let them be weary that they will not fool the people of Zambia.

  1. That is the way to go, we need to create job, add value to agric produce, expand tax base and this I hear HH say everyday!!

    • With the current crop of Politicians we have HH is the best option we have. A combination with Chipimo as his running mate is what Zambia needs. PF is killing us slowly.Wake up Zambians.

    • Way to go ba Katuta, you need to differentiate yourselves from fools otherwise people will not notice the difference

    • Politics 24/7…cry my beloved Country…Mr Katuka sir, you’re just looking for a job just like all other Politicians…..just dont start the fake 90 day PF bandits promises……It looks like Zambia wont have a good leader in many years to come…HH,Lungu,GBM,Kambwili,Kalaba,Nevers,Nawakwi all useless

    • The mind of Katuka is like a referee in World Cup final, so focused and solid.
Katuka is hard core, I can’t just point which ministry of the 12 ministries he will take up soon. I think Minister of Local Government.

    • 1.3 Anonymous: Any wonder you call yourself “Anonymous”! What is sinister about “looking for a job” if you have good aspirations; and, if given such a job, you can prove you have the ability to deliver on your promise? Have you never looked for a job, yourself? Hasn’t Edgar Lungu? Hasn’t American billionaire Donald Trump? Or are you simply bent on trying to impress us with how short of a stature, upstairs, you happen to be?

    • PF is still with opposition party mentality, just wanting everyone to recognize them, just like at family level a father always crying for recognition will surely make “his” kids suspicious and if truly his DNA runs in them or perhaps someone assisted him to be a dad.

    • @1.5 Meimatungu
Nothing wrong looking for a job…but blowing hot air like Zambian Politicians e.g Katuka and his UPND cronies…Lungu and his PF Bandits…..Kambwili and his Thugs….all Politicians are Bandits

  2. Katuka you have short memory.!!!

When GBM joined UPND you were so happy to hear him say that he would FIX Lungu and then…. GO AFTER HIS THROAT

HH appeared on BBC Hardtalk in London.

He got asked about how he can choose a VP who was going round telling the nation that he was go after the president’s throat.

HH completely failed to answer the question. He just murmured like an idi0t

You guys need to get serious with your gospel for the majority of zambians to take you serious.

    • I just want to know who organized UPND youths to give the national management committee 48hrs ultimatum to deal with GBM and truly to that demand the nmc reacted promptly.

  3. With the current crop of politicians we have HH is the best option we have. A combination with Chipimo as his running mate is what Zambia needs. PF is killing us slowly. Wake up Zambians.

  4. indeed i am in agreement with you ecl. we are only talking about baseless issues day in day out. fixing others come what may. which democracy is that in the world.

  5. “He said the UPND is also preoccupied in finding solutions to unpaid Zampost workers, Council workers, National Housing Authority employees, plus no money in people’s pockets, unreasonable taxes, corruption among top government officials, joblessness among youth, closure of CBU, unpaid farmers, among other issues that require strategizing, than personal feuds based on character assassination.”

All political rhetoric Mr Katuka, you don’t even spend one second thinking of those things, but spend ALL your time how to get plot one for Trib.al Hacks and how then you can share the national wealth among trib.als, and the large cake for Trib.al Hacks. You think we are kids Mr Katuka? How can any Zambian put their faith in Trib.al Hacks who wanted to give GBV the beep and later President if…

    • its only in plot one that you can offer solutions the person in plot has been quiet for almost four years he does not tell you wat he thinks does not offer any solution has never held a press conference to give u the confidence but u dont conplain

  6. You pushed GBM against the wall,so now dance to his tune. Moreover, when GBM joined UPND in 2015 or so,the WHOLE UPND celebrated. But since HH cannot work with anyone well,GBM ditched your tribal party!!!UPND CANNOT END POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT IN ZAMBIA-NEVER!!!Dont think we are dull like yourself Stephen Katuka.use the word “REDUCE” and not “END” because no political party in next 50 yrs or more will END POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT in Zambia. We are a poor country and we shall need about 100 yrs from today to be developed fully. If a well to do South Africa has unemployment level of more 60%,what about a poor Zambia? Please seek Govnt jobs with dignity bo UPND leaders!!!!

    • Global Unemployment has reached the Lowest Level in a decade, and yet your numbers as a country are increasing day in day out, on the same level as war-tone countries like Sudan.
If you can’t do fix your economy now when do you think you will do well? Can you imagine what will happen to Zambia if the world was hit with another recession such as 2008?
But this ni.gger is comparing Zambia progress to South Africa, if SA is not doing well, so shouldn’t Zambia, right?
What type of thinking is that?

  7. Mr SG, this is not the time for you to sit down and start issuing media statements, you should have been in the northern province to assure the party and provincial and district structures that you as UPND you are not leaving the province and encourage them to go flat out with membership recruitment. Work with the district and provincial structures. Pour more resources to strengthen them. That how you grow the party.

  8. The whole Zambia knows how UPND’s leadership has affected political landscapes.Several UPND leaders including HH suffer ETHNICITY SYNDROME ,this alone cannot make UPND party as REAL redeemer of Zambia.HH has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubts if he can make a great leader Zambians wants .He has a BAD temperament even GBM attested that. Two his dark SECRETS and depths relationship with Anglo American is another real monster in HH’s heart. We all know HH’s political pathways. Its something with bad taste of attitude.

    • Yes yes the openhimers , brenhurst foundation all work for HH even the IMF listen to him to not give Zambia any maneee……

    • that is in only in ur imagination and your wish that HH is not acceptable but in ur heart of hearts you attest that he can be a better leader.

  9. UPND should stop the notion of projecting HH as Zambia’s messiah because nobody shall buy into this nonsense!!!HH is just like any local politician,if not even worse because he pays his farm workers peanuts in Nanwala!!
As JAMES has advised above, this is not the time to be issuing politucal statements on a laptop which only end up on Lusakatimes but it is time Katuka and his UPND team went across Zambia to mobilise their party.Indeed GBM is dismattling UPND in the North because you forced him out just as PF forced Kambwili out!!!Yapping online wont stop GBM from destroying UPND on the ground using his money. The solution is to go there and meet voters on the ground to reduce GBM’s current damage to UPND!!The choice is yours bo Katuka!!

  10. Mr Katuka you are matured in all sphere of influence and human services.Lets work and run our Zambian race.Zambia is yet to reach its destination!PF is gripping us!

  11. Katuka is the reason why upnd is maligned by majority of Zambians. He and his friend in tribalism Kakoma, are the problem in upnd, not HH. Upnd must introspect and look at these two clowns.

  12. Whether you despise Katuka or not, the problems he has highlighted are real and the have escalated under someone’s watch; Unfortunately, instead of inspiring confidence in the Citizenry and the greater Investor Society, the root-cause is jogging and dancing with J.K!! My friends no one can solve economic problems by playing dice or chewing gum!! The HIGHLIGHTED problems are the type for which national indaba’s with the greatest of the country’s minds must convene to branstorm. Lesa Twafweni

  13. Upnd knew that GBM is not normal but still went ahead to appoint him vice president. They shouldn’t pretend that they have just discovered his character. They called him corrupt when he was in PF. The same with Kambwili. …they exactly who he is but will go ahead just to get to state house. These are signs that we are dealing with devious persons. On the contrary Upnd members have always told us how they will deal with PF members once in government.

    • Katuka

Ask your president HH to bring back the money he has kept in the offshore accounts and many people would benefit.

Why stealing money from the poor Zambian poor and take it out of Zambia?

And the same person wants to be a president? People of Zambia please ask deeper questions.

I can’t vote for a man HH who has already opened the offshore account abroad.

      Never!

  14. While PF is clearly a failed destructive Party, UPND does not inspire much. UPND needs to be convincing. They are high on promises but low on HOW they will fulfil those promises. Is Katuka speaking metaphorically or show we take him literary? Reducing poverty is no easy fit as Zambia is in serous trouble economically and thee PF are not even done destroying the economy yet. Eliminating poverty all together is near impossible, even some of the richest countries in the world still has people living in poverty. UPND Politicians are “Snake Oil Salesmen”, promising what is near impossible to deliver. So they will eliminate poverty and offer Free Education all the way to University? Which timeline are we talking about and have they provided evidence of where these resources will come from?…

  15. … My advice to UPND is to not overpromise. Under-promise then overdeliver, if you end up in power. Minimise on talking and concentrate on engaging the electorate manking sure you don’t promise the moon, but what is achievable as that should not be too difficult after PF ‘s disastrous rule.

  16. ba under5 sit down….please its not just what you say. You have no ideal government functions and operations. its easy said then done.

  17. UNPD, or PNUD, or whatever. this party is lost. Its tribal, its villagish, its HHsh, its finished.
