Labour minister Joyce Simukoko has urged foreign investors not to abuse workers.

Mrs. Simukoko says Zambia has Labour laws that every investor must adhere to.

She says government will continue engaging with the business community to ensure workers’ rights are protected.

Mrs. Simukoko was speaking during the awarding ceremony for excellent Employees in Chinese Corporations in Zambia.

She also stated that President Edgar Lungu remains open to host all investors who are ready to steer social and economic development.

The Minister said the Head of State during the Labour day commemorations brought out issues of low wages, poor working environment AND safety standards among others which government wants to improve.

Mrs. Simukoko further said that government values the contribution of the Chinese community towards social economic development.

She said Chinese investment has continued to contribute to the country’s job creation especially for the youth.

And Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie thanked the Zambian government for creating an enabling environment for the Chinese businesses.

Mr. Li said China will continue strengthening the bilateral and multilateral ties that have existed with Zambia for over 55 years now.

He also called on Chinese Corporations in Zambia to work on the concerns by President Lungu so that workers can be motivated for enhanced productivity.

  1. Just shut up. What do you have to say about workers’ rights when you are sending your young people to work as maids in the Gulf without considering that their rights will be abused?

    • Has she also warned herself together with her fellow masquerades for failing to pay civil servants and Parastatal employees? Ubupuba bweka bweka.

    • The question is: is it against the law to abuse workers?

If the answer is in the affirmative and you have evidence, then don’t warn. Just prosecute!

The problem in Zambia is there is too much power Play. It retards progress!!!

    • Too late ba chilolo. Nangu ntile ba chilolo wabufi because if you were a real minister you would have known that the workers have been mistreated every day since PF took over

  2. Comment:If u have nothing to say just shut up,Chinese are using Zambian pipo like animals But u Dont do anything, poor salaries, poor conditions of service and u ar there quite,No sence

  3. Joyce Simukoko is one of the most incompetent ministers of Labour we have had in Zambia. Her consolation is that she doesn’t have any scandals so can retire in peace after 2021. Zambians are being mistreated every day yet her office does nothing.

  4. SORRY,I HAVE NO GOOD WORDS FOR THS WOMAN.SH IS RUBBISH.SHE KNOWS TH CHALLENGES WORKERS GO THROUGH CZ SHE WAS A UNIONIST BUT NOW SHE IS A LET DOWN. MADAM JUST KEEP QUIET

  5. No unionist has ever done well in government. They ditch the very ideals that propelled them into high office. Take Lech Walesa of Poland’so Solidarity movement. He worked hard as a union leader but failed to address the very issues he promised to correct. At home we Frederick Chiluba, Newstead Zimba, Austin Liato, Chitalu Stalin Sampa Fackson Shameda, Joyce Nonde and others not mentioned here. They all became antiworker upon attaining high office. Never expect another human being to uplift your status. Even those who overthrow governments by popular demand end being worse than the people they removed from power.

  6. Madam Simukoko what do you term as abuse. I was thinking not paying workers is also an abuse. Chinese dont pay well but they pay on time unless they are working on government projects and and the government has not paid them.
Madam speak the truth and stop eating with both hands.

  7. Simukoko went into the Horseshoe Restaurant BREATHING FIRE, after allegations of Horseshoe owners abusing local workers, & promptly came out like a meek kitten, tail between the legs, smiling, & carrying a brown envelope under her armpit.
THIS IS THE CALIBRE OF REPRESENTATIVE DUNUNA P.F. AFFORDS YOU CITIZENS.
At least Zambians Voted in numbers for this mediocrity.
