PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu is today May, 17th 2019 expected on the Copperbelt Province on a three day working visit.

While on the Province President LUNGU will tour various developmental projects and hold meetings with various stakeholders from the Mines.

The Head of State will also attend to UCZ Corporate Health Fun Walk and Run at The Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.

On Sunday the President will attend church Service at Christ the King Pentecostal in Ndola.

President Lungu will land at the Simon Mwansa International Airport in Ndola at 09:00 hours.

This is contained in a notice released to all Patriotic Front party members on the Copperbelt by the Patriotic Front Copperbelt Provincial Chairperson MCC Nathan Chanda.

Meanwhile President Lungu’s desire is to ensure that the jobs of all workers in the mining sector are protected, Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda, has said.

Mr Chanda told Journalists at State House in Lusaka yesterday, the Head of State wanted to ensure that the situation at the mining houses quickly came to normal.

He said that “President Lungu wants to ensure that the situation in the mining houses does not get to worse.”|

Mr Chanda also disclosed that the President would soon meet the Chamber of Mines, an umbrella body of the mining houses and Mineworkers Union of Zambia, to discuss the matter.

He said the Head of State wanted to hold a constructive dialogue with stakeholders to resolve the impasse with the mining houses.

“The President does not want this situation to worsen, he wants to meet the Chamber of Mines and Mineworkers to have a construction dialogue on this matter,” Mr Chanda said.

Workers from Mopani Copper Mine and Konkola Copper Mine appealed to President Lungu to intervene in the matter after the two mining giants threatened to scale down on employees as a means to cushion the impact of the new mining tax changes on their operations.

Minister of Mines and Mineral Development Richard Musukwa rejected the proposal by the two mining firms, saying that the decision was null and void.

And Mr Musukwa threatened that government would repossess the mining shafts from the two mining firms and engage local contractors to run them as a means to safeguard jobs.

  1. This sounds and looks so styupid, after all that drama with HH?
    – HH met miners. Ba Edgar says me too, I will go meet them.
    – HH went to church. Ba Edgar says me too, I will go UCZ.
Everything is me too, is his job about damage control? We hope Ba Edgar will reinstate fired Ndola Airport managers for treating HH just right.
No wonder people are say Ba Edgar can’t still believe that he is president.
Campaigning on a weekly basis won’t gain him respect.

    • @Nostradamus
Am very curious about how you spend your normal day…..so you are on LT day and night…just how do you earn a living….do you have family, friends etc apart from fellow bloggers like Jay Jay and Spaka….who else do you talk to in real life…even your comments most of the times are incoherent….you sound like you have issues upstairs or you are always drunk

    • @Anonyous,
It takes 5 minutes to read stories on LT, 5 minutes. Don’t look like a PFoool whose leaders can’t even do anything. I am not lazy.

  2. Just go and reposes KCM that HH sold for a song and now he is inciting his friends to cooperation to antagonize government for his political expedience.

    • You are running out of time with this old record of HH sold mines …..

      K13.5 = $1 or is it higher ?

      Hehehe……

    • @2Kci,HH has NEVER run a government in Zambia to sell any public asset like a mine!! Mines were sold by Government officials, the Indians running KCM were brot by Mwanawasa and given a mine for a sing of $25mn when copper alone in transit to markets and awaited proceeds were worth $65mn!! The situation was similar to today when people expected the state to take over KCM and rub it but alas..!!HH should not be a scale goat for people’s failures to run this country due to their negligent and self serving approach to national affairs!

    • Can one person sell national mines, my suggestion to you is take your whole family back to school… your dullness is inherited

    • At the current state of KCM, only a shameless corrupt president can continue engaging in dialogue with those Indian crooks. How many times has Argawal on one hand promised billion dollar recapitalization while on the ground his mwenyes are stripping mine assets? Let Lungu enter the mine in Chingola and see for himself the destruction that is going on there. It’s like an aftermath of a war.REPOSESS that mine ASAP.

    • Iwe KCI get you head out of your bottom!! A private individual cannot get up and start selling National Assets. When assigned by the State, that person cannot operate in isolation!! The Assets entrusted to HH are still there for all to see, poor management and government policies cannot be blamed on HH; where are the Assets presided over by Edgar Lungu’s Chairmanship at privatisation??? Haven’t they all gone under?? What does that tell you of the man’s character???

    • The mines are cutting back because they are feeling the pinch…as usual you will go there and give them tax breaks to keep on workers: they know the routine, they know dull PF inside and out….PF are in denial as far as they are concerned everything is on the up….following Hakainde every way like a little puppy.

  3. This Guy Ba Jona is always going on his much publicised runs.
He will need the conditioning, so he’s able to run away fast, from law enforcement agencies once he’s elected out of office.

    • This is a dull utterly lazy Chawama man who sees Friday Saturday and Sunday as the most appropriate time to take 3 working days ….the man has neither vision nor plan…he thinks when he is seen jogging people will say he is hardworking because he has surrounded himself with dullards like Kz and Freedom Sikazwe.

  4. While “ON” the Province President LUNGU will tour various developmental projects and hold meetings with various stakeholders from the Mines.
“ON” the province? Imwe ba LT, what kind of english is that?

  5. Jona Meno Meno or Jonathan Kamwendo…. always late for everything… this chap is just dull, worst president in the world

  6. This guy caused traffic jams again at peak traffic time!
We have to start work late because someone’s motorcade wants to pass on the usual Zungulila Zambia aimless errands. Allow the Wheels of Commerce to move freely! Time is money! We can’t afford to idle time when our economy is in the toilet! Why not call a meeting with the Mining houses to iron out the issues causing job losses instead of this aimless galavanting at huge cost to our ailing economy? Will the CB trip help to strengthen the Kwacha?
Whoever plans these movements should understand the resentment building up among road users who are inconvenienced at the busiest times for traffic. Why don’t you guys use air transfer with a Chopper ba Sata was using?

    • When I call him LAZY LUNGU you think its a joke…the dollar is selling at K14 he is off on a working visit on a weekend…he has no concept of business commerce, this is a simple Chawama man just happy to see traffic stopping for him with his smiling adviser Freedom Sikazwe.

    • I also wonder, how does the entire president follow tuma mine managers and directors?Shouldn’t he have summoned them to State House?Does he even realise how much this travelling is harming the nation? He will wake up one day only to be told money is completely finished for travelling

    • Mario – The whole President is going to the offices of KCM to talk to a that Indian girl in-charge who reports to Delhi, India….you go and ask him about the economy? he will automatically reply that he is taking measures what measures when the Kwacha is dropping…yet all we see is a drunk Finance Minister in pubic and him jogging like a toddler in a play ground. I doubt this utterly lazy BUM EDGAR has even worked for a corporation when its in firefighting mode…I highly doubt it.

  7. He is going to a fundraiser. He is going to walk and run. That is ALL he knows. Meanwhile Kwacha diving at supersonic speed! (please meet my President!)

    • What else does he know…look at his background…he will do anything to run away from his wife and play like a small boy. He also wants to stand again in 2021..really laughable.

  8. 1. Minister of Mines and Mineral Development Richard Musukwa: ” …. rejected the proposal by the two mining firms, saying that the decision was null and void.

And Mr Musukwa threatened that government would repossess the mining shafts from the two mining firms and engage local contractors to run them as a means to safeguard jobs.”

    2. Amos Chanda: “The Head of State wanted to hold a constructive dialogue with stakeholders to resolve the impasse with the mining houses.”

After directing Hon Musukwa to issue a poisonous statement, now Amos Chanda comes up with a statement to depict his boss as a caring and listening leader.
Sorry Amos, instead you have come across as totally defeated, tail between the legs as they say.

Useless party actually, this PF, with cadres…

  9. …..Useless party actually, this PF is, with cadres masquerading as “visionary leaders”. The only problem is that
TRIB.ALS ARE NO OPTION FOR ZAMBIA.

    • Actually UPND Cadre are you aware that PF is more tribal than UPND there more Bembas that will descrimanate you based on your tribe than Tongas this is the list the top most is the
      1. Bembas (Northerners) 2.Tongas southerners 3. Kaondes North Westerners 5. Westerners( Lozi) 6.Easterners 7.Central Province
The rest like Lambas lag behind but in any case there is very little tribalism in Zambia which ever exist has mainly escalated recently under the PF government. Tribalism in Zambia has been sensationalized by politicians so us to be weponised to be used as a political tool either to disadvantaged or advantage certain politicians. Tribalism is usually a villager mentality and when weponised it can be deadly now it’s up to us the citizens to fight against those who try to weponise…

    • Continued……
try to weponise tribalism people like UPND Cadre above .The will continuely chant the same phrase hoping it gets weponised or may they will try to portray certain individuals as being tribal . But big question is why use tribalism or racism well because both racism or tribalism are almost fail proof ways of obtaining or holding on to power if orchestrated well they make people feel they need you for there own survival their by ignoring better leaders

  10. #6 CC, good idea. But what about all those hordes of ministers, PSs, commanders of armed forces, police, prisons, PF “officials”, and of course that endemic part of the current Zambian Presidency consisting of hordes of lawless party cadres, is the chopper big enough to ferry them too? Or do you have enough choppers?

I agree with you, best option is to stay home and invite those mining houses and unions for a chat. Better still, if ministers are capable give them the mandate to resolve these issues, while the boss resolves the kwacha with Hon Mwanakatwe.

    • What do you mean if Ministers are capable? A minister is supposed to be capable, have a job description be held accountable by a responsible boss; if at all that Boss is responsible enough. There is a Provincial Minister, a Mines Minister and a Member of Parliament; what the hell are they all doing huh?
Are deputy ministers going to help fix this???

  11. On the other hands, I don’t understand the hallabaloo of an investor shutting down unsafe, unproductive shafts which have reached the end of their useful life and opening new shafts. Is it a a political or economic matter?

And GRZ threatens to repossess the old shafts and give them to local contractors (jerabos actually) black mountain style. Can’t you be serious for once imwe ba PF?

  12. Only problem, only reason to keep PF for now (until a viable alternative comes up) is that

TRIB.AL HACKS AND HIS HORDE OF TRIB.ALS ARE NO OPTION FOR ZAMBIA

  13. Here is a man who has crushed the economic. His finance minister is a female drunkard. He has embraced corruption. He has failed to control violent in his party

Here is another man. He participated in destroying Zambian industries. He participated in looting and created offshore accounts. He runs a party of radicalized followers. He failed to condemn a serious ethnicity in Namwala we saw property destroyed snd people displace

We have another guy with forged academic credentials and FORGED political party and FORGED pacra documents .

Loud mouth with a company that used to survive on govt contracts.

He was Labour minister and defended pf. Information minister and shut down membes post.

Which of these 3 deserves a vote for presidency???

    • Its politiical.. how will vote HH because of two reasons thats apart from the free education & economical revival he has promised to
1.reduce the presidential powers & give back some power either to parliament or the people that will greatly increase transparency
      2. The general population in Zambia is mostly uneducated, docile & to trusting so giving them a leader like Sata , Edgar Lungu is an error because they already like them and the won’t easily make the difficult decisions early until it’s to late so we need a HH that is not very liked so that it will be easier to keep him up on his toes so that for once we have a president scared of the people like in other countries it’s no secret PF is more scared of the international community than it’s citizens plus I know if HH…

    • Continued…….
than it’s citizens plus I know if HH messes up even half of what Lungu has we can count on useful !doits like you that hate him for no good reason( being Tonga )to make his life difficult.

  14. the HH copper belt trip was adding money to the government coffers , landing and parking fees for his jet, hotel bills to support local businesses, he didn’t drain any tax payers money.

  15. He is always on working holidays around the country, but no one sees the results of all these trips. Instead everything he touches heads south. Zambians it’s time to fire him for incompetence to stop the decay.

    • Its only overtime accrued for himself and his staff…that’s why they are in denial about the economy!!

  16. This leader is so dull and detached from issues that require his immediate attention. Zambia is experiencing a tragic hunger situation that is slowly turning into a famine just there in Southern Province where he went to dance few weeks ago yet still, he missed out on this national crisis busy in campaign mode PF this PF That, People have died since you left. Our very own Zambians are starving and in server cases dying from food hunger cause by poor crop yield that has caused a draught in Southern and parts of Eastern which as a leader you should be engaging WFP, UNICEF and other NGO’s to help you save lives, be a leader with a heart for once and do the right thing, drinking won’t take you anywhere Lungu (Where did you come from?). IT IS A FACTS, ZAMBIA IS EXPERIENCING A BIG FOOD CRISIS…

  17. He only talks to PF carders
    He is forever campaigning
He only fixes opponents and not economic problems
He tops the air miles list
He will be the first president to assume the role with white hair and exit it with nice jet black hair for him its holidays and wineing n dining.
He has made politics look like a get rich quick scheme

  18. Mr Chanda told Journalists at State House in Lusaka yesterday, the Head of State wanted to ensure that the situation at the mining houses quickly came to normal. He said that “President Lungu wants to ensure that the situation in the mining houses does not get to worse.”

Seriously this is a mockery of the whole situation; what does this president do in that office? Aren’t engagements of this nature supposed to be structured and deliberate whether there’s a crisis or not!! These reactive stunts are too late and will surely be fruitless. How many on this man’s cabinet have ever worked a real job? Corporates cannot tolerate a senior manager of director letting the situation out of control and then start chasing; ever wondered why the Government as a whole is annoyingly inefficient??…

    • Hunter my bro very good example these guys are running us down but we are to blame because we let them they are more scared of imf than us we are too docile Zambia has not developed because we don’t want to develop its nowonder we deserve people like gbm & ECL if gbm made a u-turn on his own words in America without a proper explanation it would have been the end of his political career but no not in Zambia it’s so funny and painful sometimes to realise that there are going to be some people voting for him am really starting to consider that people without a G12 certificate should only have half a vote may be that way we could stair the country in the right direction.

  19. After inconsistent rains and prolonged dry spells, Zambia has been hit with a water and food shortage crisis, FACT. Zambia is facing its worst food shortage in a decade, largely caused by flooding and drought last year. Planting was delayed in the fall because of the dry period, which pushed the harvest off this spring. What this means is the staple food production has suffered, specifically maize, rice, and wheat. Stores are limiting the bags available to be purchased while doubling the cost.

The result? Widespread hunger. Food security steals lives every day. Time lost gathering water and suffering from water-borne diseases limits people’s potential. Education is lost to sickness and caring for others that are merely trying to survive.

When the priority is survival, people can do…

  20. It is always good to have your leader visit you in such situation.

    Good move Mr President.

My submission is that Sir, let not KCM convince you that they are shutting their two shafts because of the introduction of Sales Tax. From what is known very little actual mining is being done. Their focus is treatment of copper concentrates from other mines. One simple question to put to them is, how much investment have they done in developing new shafts?

Lets go past the Sales Tax issues and for once stop a major loop hole in our tax system.

    • You are very right his more than dull and dam thinking like psychiatric person
      Kwena ba lungu mubwa yamuntu
      God see Zambia

  21. Repairing roads that had been damaged by many years of non maintenance is not development. I hope he will not be going around towns looking at the repaired roads. Development is what land owners have done to their plots,(built their family homes , and in many cases using their hard earned money) He should drive through these new neighbourhoods and pay attention to how much the local govt/councils have invested in the form of roads and street naming and just plain cleanliness in these areas.

  22. There is nothing that ECL will do becuse the mining houses will pay him and he will be happy and accuse those who are losing thier jobs a UPND supporters

  23. viva HH for 2021! Go HH Go. a leader with vision to change the lives of all Zambians living no tribe behind.

  24. I support your comments guys! our suffering is being long overdue! we were not created to be wanting always. God in heaven is watching, the wind of change has just started blowing, wait and see by 2020 the whole PF cabinet will start shaking no matter the means they will decide start seducing Zambians, it wont work because that time God will take control of everything.
