ROBERT MUGABE, ZIMBABWE’S FIRST POST-INDEPENDENCE LEADER, DIES AT THE AGE OF 95.

First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda has said that it is regrettable that the late President Robert Mugabe was maligned and subjected to mudslinging by some sections of the world who were against his crusade of bringing social justice and equity to Zimbabwe.

In a message of condolences sent to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and availed to media in Lusaka today, Dr Kaunda said that President Mugabe was unfairly slapped with economic sanctions that hurt the people of Zimbabwe.

Dr Kaunda said that he is devastated by the death of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, adding that his death was a moment of heartbreak and sadness for him.

Dr Kaunda recalled that President Mugabe worked hard to fight colonialism, racism, as well as bringing independence to Zimbabwe.

The 95-year-old founding father referred to the late Mugabe as a brother and colleague in the common struggle of liberation for Africa.

Dr Kaunda told President Mnangagwa that he prays that unfriendly forces will not rise and vilify President Mugabe for his governance and development record during his reign in Zimbabwe.

Dr Kaunda prayed that God will comfort Mr Mugabe’s family and the people of Zimbabwe during their time of grief.

President Robert Mugabe died today Friday September 6, 2019 aged 95, in a Singaporean hospital where he has been receiving medical treatment.

The late Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years from 1980 to 2017 when he was deposed by the military in a bloodless transition of power.

    • KK is praising a fellow Dictator. KK should tell what Social Justice and Equity he brought to Zimbabweans? Mugabe drove more than 3 Million Zimbabweans into Exile and mostly in South Africa. These Zimbabwe Economic Refugees are now victims of Xenophobia attacks. Although a Liberation Hero Mugabe misruled Zimbabwe and destroyed the Economy and Peoples lives. Farewell Dictator and Villain. Unfortunately ED and Military Junta has taken over from where Mugabe left off. Mugabe did more harm to Zimbabwe than Good. Farewell Dictator and Villain.

    • Have you read the news of what happen to inside traders in the U.S.? “Galleon’s Rajaratnam Free From Prison After Almost 8 Years.” MAY BE HAZALUZA HAGAIN and his TRIBAL UNION could have learned a lesson or two. Sadly, bitter hearts, bitter herbs and bitter people never learn no matter how much you teach them. HAZALUZA HAGAIN.

    • KK is wrong. Mugabe was a Hero to some and a Villain to some. Under Mugabe 20000 People were killed during the Gukurahundi Massacres. In 2008 Mugabe killed 200 Opposition Supporters and destroyed the Zimbabwe Economy to what it is today. Yes he brought Independence but turned into a Ruthless Dictator who destroyed lives of Zimbabweans. May the Hero and Villain’s Soul Rest in Peace.

  1. “Williams founded the colony of Rhode Island based upon principles of complete religious toleration, separation of church and state, and political democracy (values that the U.S. would later be founded upon). It became a refuge for people persecuted for their religious beliefs.” He was subjected to mudslinging too. “Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.” He was subjected to mudslinging too. we need accountability

  2. KK IS RIGHT SADC, AU AND ALL HER NEIGHBORS SHOULD HAVE STOOD BY MUGABE SIDE WHEN HE STOOD UP AGAINST THE FOREIGN POWER FROM OTHER CONTINENTS. AFRICA MUST LEARN TO STAND AND STAND AS ONE

  3. The Greatest Hero of African people. We weep as we thank God for such a man given to the people of Zimbabwe at the time of their need in Zimbabwe. Mugabe was a Brave Warrior, a Liberator, for such a man, his enemies would be great. That’s the sign of a feared man. A strength in character matched by the great need of Zimbabwe.

We pray for his last good journey on the wings of Angels to a place of peace and rest. God Bless his soul. We pray for his family, for comfort at this time. As his enemies cackle we praise his great deeds for his fellows. Go well Sir, uncle Bob!

  4. The fact that he is dying in a foreign hospital is testament to poor leadership and misplaced priorities, clearly could have better to die in one of his mansions he had built from stolen money, what a shame. Let those who are following in his footsteps take heed, fyonse fikashala

  5. Dr Kaunda we must call a spade a spade, Mugabe was a murderous dictator and opposed all who disagreed with him.
He is and was the architect of death and destruction on Zimbabwe, no African country stood to challenge him because we have the same leader’s in our countries, ECL is a prime example of one such.
We as African ruler’s cannot rule because we only rule based on tribal lines, my Africa will never rise and remain the beggers of the world because of this.

  6. President Mugabe was the only African leader to reverse the land theft of colonialism and UDI/Apartheid.

This made him a direct threat not only to the land thieves in South Africa, Namibia and Kenya, but to the skewed land ownership in Britain itself.

Only the UK had a worse owners to land ratio than Zimbabwe, and the UK needs landreform even more than Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe: 1% owned 43% of the land.
UK: under 1% owns 50% of the land.
South Africa: under 10% owns 87% of the land.

  7. “Most Zimbabweans can live to 90yrs old because Mugabe neglected their healthcare and nutrition needs.”

That is the exact opposite of the truth. It was the ZANU-PF that provided healthcare centers within walking distance of all Zimbabweans – which the rhodesian minority of course never did. With dramatic results. Who reversed these results? The IMF/World Bank, which is always against programs that help ordinary people and not transnational capital.

  8. KK destroyed Zambia though his socialist experiment but at least he stepped down and earned our respect for that. Also Zambia helped many leaders including Zim and SA during the apartheid yrs, when did Bob every thank us, always put us down and look how South African’s treat us after we sacrifice for them, now they kill us. time for us to look after ourselves like Bots does.
As for KK he still lives in the 60’s what has he left as his mark, Zambia is far better off today than under his reign,
But PF is working hard to bring Zambia back to the late 80s of mismanagement.
