Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo says it is unfair to blame President Edgar Lungu for the effects of climate change that the country is experiencing.

Mr Lusambo said President Lungu and his administration are working tirelessly to mitigate the effects of climate change.

He said heaping the blame on President Lungu for the low water levels at power generation stations is unfair.

Mr Lusambo was speaking on Sunday when he addressed Parishioners at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Masala in Ndola.

He has since urged the Church to work closely with government and other cooperating partners to work tougher to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.

Mr Lusambo stated that in response to the effects of climate change, government has started emergency power imports and installation of power generation sets in key public facilities such as clinics and hospitals.

“Climate change is purely a natural occurrence because it is not President Edgar Lungu who is walking around with water in his pocket so that we don’t have water in the dams.
It is therefore unfair to blame the effects of climate change on President Lungu and his administration,” Mr Lusambo said.

Meanwhile, Mr Lusambo has handed over four generators valued at K1 million to three clinics in his constituency donated by President Edgar Lungu.

Mr Lusambo has also pledged to provide 210 litres of diesel for the gensets on a monthly basis.

The recipient health facilities are Kabushi, Lubuto and Masala clinics.

Mr. Lusambo said the third generator would be donated to another institution in need.

“I strongly believe that this gesture will help cushion the impact of load shedding on the delivery of health services,” Mr. Lusambo said.

  1. You see Bowman, that’s low capacity thinking. Who is blaming president lungu, People are not happy with remedial planning that all other countries have done. The problem is we never prioritized early. Gen sets are just a short term solution that still burns fuels and producing more co2.

When will our government open their heads think, talk and plan productively? If everyone of you was not a boot licker president lungu would have probably made a good president but you have destroyed him, Here me again bootlickers with no decent advice.

Anyway good for the clinics you have donated. We all know you do what some one does you call a boy.

    thanks

    • Kikikiki, he will be giving them more fuel(diesel) to produce more green house gases, contributing to further climate destruction. No managerial skills just politics.

    • You need alot of water for construction, making blocks etc. And without electricity there is no way of completing such a big building by Stardy Construction in Kabushi consistuency.
Stardy Mwale will also blame climate change for not completing a ward, dispute being paid in full.

    • Bowman we not blaming our president on climate change but luck of acting on the forest 27 and other water resources being built on with names known to our president yet we fighting climate change and on the hand destroying our environment. Please note that Zambia is blessed with sunlight and we do well with solar energy.

    • As Solomon wrote 3000yrs ago, “I have seen another evil under the sun, the sort of error that comes from a ruler; f00ls are put in many high positions…”.
This is nature of PF. You have many f00ls in high positions, whose only interest is there bellies. All they do is meant only to satisfy thier greedy ends.
I even wonder why churches give an audience to such individuals who clearly have no morals.

    • How much is mealie meal?

Blaming climate change will not bring practical solutions to electricity crisis the country is facing under the visionless & violent PF bandits.

How many hours of load shedding are you going through in your areas under this visionless & PFs lack of leadership with the dysfunctional institutions?

How is the economy performing with this never ending load shedding, brought to people by the PF bandits?

How will deforestation of Lower Zambezi, a national park & turning it into a pollution area benefit the environment? This is PF madness of their hypocrisy . They yap about climate change as if they care for the environment & at the same time want to turn a national park into a polluting park. It’s called environmental degradation.

By the way, how much is…

    • ….. How much is charcoal & 25Kg bag of mealie meal with this load shedding brought to the people by PF bandits.

      The Skeleton Key
      ~206~

    • POTROZ ECL is definitely not off the hook on this climate change issue viz economic woes facing the country on account of loadshedding.
Loadshedding started with LPM. Succeeding Governments including ECL’s have paid little attention to climate change effects as it relates to Energy. ECL promised Zambians that loadshedding would end. But we’re languishing with it. His mistake is that he still believes that the private sector will come and help Zambia out’a energy crisis.
I endorse the roads but not the multi million dollar Airport. Money spent Ndola Airport should have gone to energy.
How do you woo the so called investors in an energyless economy?

    • Can Zesco account for the Euro bond? Disband it mwe.
Water dependent Zesco will fail to pay private sector driven power generators in its current structure. This we know. So instead of idling waiting for the rain we have no control over let beleaguered Government cash cow, Zesco, begin renewable energy projects on Government coffers fast fast. KK MO was the best but the country had little learned characters.

  2. This is the problem of leaving you managerial skills in upnd in preference for poly tricks in pf, now you don’t even know how to deal with climate change, who told you it’s only about mitigation? You need to adapt too. If on the day you got that Euro bond and Chinese loans had decided to invest in 4 more projects like the maamba coal power plant, today you wouldn’t have donated those gensets, because we would have adapted to climate change, but since pf only has politicians and no managers, these are the consequences.

    • Kikikiki, mitigation measures by donating more fuel(diesel) to produce more green house gases, kikikiki, yaba Ba politician aba.

  3. Hon. Minister, no one is blaming the President for the consequences of climate change.
Please do not spread FAKE NEWS and/or shifting the subject matter (as usual).
The President is blamed (and justly) for lethargic incompetence, lack of direction and failure of purpose. After all, H.E. has FAILED (miserably) to acknowledge existence of necessary priorities and instead embarked in never ending borrowing under flimsy pretext of “unprecedented development”.
For your info, Hon. Minister, climate change did not happen yesterday, last month or Last year. It has been with us for ages.
Please enlighten us what H. E. and members of his Cabinet have done (during his tenure) to combat climate change?
    NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING.
And yet, you do have barbaric courage to blab and…

  4. Its entirely fair to blame Lungu for poor planning. In Alaska & Iceland there’s 24hr darkness and 9month winter seasons yet they’re always food secure.

  5. IT’S NOT THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE WE BLAME HIM FOR ITS A POOR PLAN TO RESPOND TO THESE EFFECTS. AS A PARENT NO ONE BLAMES YOU FOR THE CHILD GETTING MALARIA BUT IF YOU DON’T HAVE MONEY TO TAKE THE CHILD TO CLINIC THEN WE BLAME YOU FOR THAT. SAME GOES WITH HAVING FOOD TO COVER THE MONTH AS A PARENT YOU NEED TO PLAN SO THEIR IS FOOD. SAME GOES WITH THE ENTIRE CABINET PLAN FOR THESE EFFECTS SO YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT PANTS DOWN. THE PROBLEM IS IF IT RAINED TOMORROW AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL YOU WON’T PLAN SO THAT THE COUNTRY NEVER GETS TO A POINT WHERE WE HAVE LOAD SHEDDING AGAING INSTEAD YOU WILL DECLARE LOAD SHEDDING A THING OF THE PAST. IT’S HAPPENED BEFORE NOT SO LONG AGO

    • Only if the generators had been purchased with the proceeds of embezzlement, corruption, sale of wild animals, theft or sale of hard woods.

  6. “….Mr Lusambo has handed over four generators valued at K1 million to three clinics in his constituency donated by President Edgar Lungu…”

    This is from stolen money,

Lusambo in case you and that corrupt thief who donates gen sets to churches on a personal level,……

Zambia has almost 300 days of interrupted sunshine and there is something called solar plower generation that when used with batteries provides power , ask your technocrats if you thing you can not produce electricity from the sun

  7. …Mr Lusambo has also pledged to provide 210 litres of diesel for the gensets on a monthly basis. This amounts to corruption. This gesture may on face value appear harmless yet in fact it amounts to bribery of the electorates and in a sense State capture.Let the Ministry of health come up with a plan on how they will finance fuel procurement, it doesn’t have to come from your pockets Hon Lusambo. It was said of the late Mobutu of Zaire that he had state treasury in his personal bank accounts and would in fact pay the military salaries from his personal accounts .

  8. We must work and unity passionately and unrelentingly for the goal of freedom, but we must be sure that our mouth and hands builds a strong pillar of unity and love in the struggle. We must never struggle with falsehood ,unclean mouth, hate and bitterness. Politics is a game of winning and lossing and the winner should always take a lead and the looser should accept and develop a helping hand. Therefore politics should not control our mouth and divide us, let politicians control a game of politics and making sure they preach peace and contribute positively towards national development, for we are One world, One people and ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.

  9. How much did lungu spend on those gen sets ??? Which will include fuel ?

We have been telling these corrupt thieves lead by lungu to initiate a local solar power assembly/manufacturing industry.
That money for gen sets would have stayed in Zambia If we invested in solar manufacturing , and there would be no polution from diesel fumes, and jobs would have been provided….

But these dim wits lead by lungu don’t understand that electricity can be produced from the sun and they have awared them selves contracts to import gen sets ……

  10. You know what they say about bootlickers. This guy is a self-confessed bootlicker for Lungu so there is NOTHING that he will say that will be negatively attributed to Lungu. Bowman, incompetence is exactly what you are displaying; trying to use a natural phenomenon to explain away your incapacity. If Joseph of the Bible had blamed drought he would not have planned for those seven lean years and the seven of plenty. We cipuba wee!!

  11. We don’t blame lungu for climate change but for lack of vision and direction. We also do not hate lungu and we hate his deeds that keep taking this country backward. However please explain what Lungu has been doing by selling mukula trees or the encroachment in the forest, if that is not adding to the effects of climate change?

  12. Lungu is humble and the the best President to ever grace the political landscape. In Lungu we have a God fearing President who even declared a day of National Prayer just so that Zambians could dedicate a whole day of fasting and Prayer. On top of all this he was chosen by God, we can not go against Gods choice people of Zambia. Let us all vote Lungu come 2021
    Ifintu Ni LUNGU

    • God never gives snakes to his children who ask for bread. GOD’S divine will is perfect but we the zambians got God permitted will in getting lungu to rule. Everything bad happening in the country we blame ourselves only. Lungu can declare 100 days national prayer but if he fails to change his ways and leadership, if he fails to weed out the weeds in his cabinet or party and fails to do what he swore to do, nothing will change. Leaders who fail have simply neglected or ignored to do that which they swore to do, they become compromised as a result of corruption and illegal kickbacks they get.

  13. Why do these churches deconsecrate the pulpit or alter of God in churches by allowing these politicians to politic from there. No politician from any party should be allowed on the pulpit otherwise that will make church leaders become compromised. The house of God should be dedicated to God’s work that’s why Christ drove out those who changed the purpose of God’s temple.

  14. Zambia does not need a God fearing Lungu. Zambia needs a president with vision and a love for his/her citizens. Prayer without action is hypocrisy and therefore these days of national prayer and fasting are just a waste of time!!
Global warming has been happening way before Lungu and all over the world and he only difference is that the likes of Lungu have no contingency plans for any well known national disasters. They would rather wait for disasters to happen than have plans in place, and Lungu now thinks he is a victim.

  15. The Government under His Excellency Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu is not to be blamed for climate change. Our President is not capable of saying “Let there be light” and the sun comes out, “let it rain” and it pours. Fellow Zambians the only way we can avoid the consequences of climate change is by working together and supporting our Government and the decisions it makes. Complaining will not bring back our normal weather pattern but if we put our heads together, solutions to any problem with negative consequences like climate change would be simple issues.

  16. Lusambo nacho ici katwishi mwe.

I thought Trible HH was stopped from donating generators? Anyway maybe he was rejected because he used triblism.

Ari Lusambo will donate 210lt diesel per month, of course he can afford this plus his earlier donations, he must have become rich since he joined politics. Enjoy his “generosity” before he loses his honourable title..

  17. It’s really funny how people think President Edgar Lungu is now responsible for climate change, you people who are being used to complain of climate change, water issues and electricity bla bla do not be decieved my fellow Zambians lets all do whats right and give advise on what must be done as a country.

  18. First of all, why should a ruling party be allowed to ‘preach and campaign’ politics in Church?

Secondly, what is the source of the money ECL has used to buy these generators? Is he going to do the same for the rest of the country? Lusambo himself promises to supply diesel. This all smacks of a country being run without any plans – just from individual pockets and whose source of proceeds is clearly dubious.

  19. CLIMATE CHANGE IS ONE SIGN AMONG THE END TIME SIGN PRONUCED IN THE BIBLE,LET THE WISE RESD AND BE AWARE OF THE END TIME SIGNS.DURING THE TIME OF NOAH AND AT SODOM AND GOMOLA IT WAS THE SAME AS IT IS TODAY.ONLY THE WISE WILL SURVIVE BUT TO FOOLISH ALAS ALAS. SO BLAMING ECL FOR CLIMATE IS FOOLISHENESS AT ITS TOTALITY.

  20. It is normal to heap the blame on leadership. That is how democracy functions. However, the issue of climate change is more complex than the blame game. It is multifaceted. First, politicians must bear part of the blame for failing to respond to the problem with elaborate climate change policies. Two, poor implementation of environmental protection measures is a public issue. In other words, the public must respect the environment, regardless of political differences. Nature is a common good. Three, politicking is detrimental to proper environmental protection. The legislators need to support a legal framework that respects the environment while at the same pushing for greater job creation and prosperity.

  21. The churches are reduced to nothing. A church is a platform for prayer, not this drama and the drama we watched at Satas’ memorial. Politicians going to address congregants , canvassing for votes. Complete loss of direction by the churches

  22. Empty talk and I am not surprised it is coming from a bootlicker. The effects of climate change can be mitigated if you guys are thinking. So you just want the president to sit and watch? Wake up Bowman
