Human resource is one of Zambia’s greatest assets – HH

Share

Growing up as youths in the 70s and 80s, our founding fathers led by first President Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda, often talked about copper and other minerals being ‘wasting assets’, essentially meaning they could and would run out. President Kaunda and his collegues therefore encouraged citizens to diversify in other areas such as agriculture and tourism whose potential is enduring.

Well, there is an an asset in Zambia that can never run out and whose potential is everlasting, and that is human resource. Zambia is endowed with so much skill and brain, and as a business expert myself whose speciality, among many others, includes designing and selling intellectual property, we can safely state that this is God’s greatest gift to this country. A recent report revealed that Zambia and Nigeria top the African charts in entrepreneurship, what news can be better than this?

Sadly however, most of this resource is unrecognized and unsupported by the PF government who opt to take an easy way out in corruption and theft of public resources. As a matter of fact, some of Zambia’s best brains have migrated abroad building other nations’ economies, because of various frustrations back home. Under the UPND Government this will change and will change real fast. Under a special project, we will systematically recall Zambian skilled labour in the diaspora and offer them incentives, so that they can come home and help restore their nation to its former glory.

Zambia is a country with a profound reservoir of hard work, national pride and deep patriotism and like the phoenix of the Greek mythology, shall rise again, we promise you that.

  1. All politicians promise manna on earth when campaigning. It’s only Lungu who was truthful about not having a vision, and now we have 18 hours of loadshedding. So bwana hakainde people will vote for you in 2021 not because of those useless promises we have heard before. They will simply be removing the most dangerously clueless government on earth and then casting a vote on a candidate with the second largest following.

    • People can hate you for having a vision, joseph was sold into slavery by his own blood brothers for revealing his dream.

    • I totally agree with you HH that the biggest wealth of the nation is its people. We cry all the time when we have so much abundance of natural resources that can propel this nation.

However, quoting from the statement made by HH in yesterday’s article

“””” It does not come as a surprise that Zambia and Nigeria are the two leading African countries in terms of entrepreneurial appetite.”””””

HH I can tell you that if this was a Failed State as you and your disciple have gone proclaimed in the past, Zambia would not be among the top nations where Entrepreneurial Appetite is found.

For any nation to have such appetite it means that the citizens see potential and the environment is friendly for the business world.

    • I agree with HH, we need an environment that unlocks the intellectual capabilities of our human capital and put that ro goos use. So what HH is saying is that the future of Zambia lies within capable Zambian hands.

    • Very obsessed with the people living in the diaspora and the international remnants of issues.
Zambia needs to be developed by Zambians in Zambia. Being a youth in the 70s and 80s only inspired you to one day pick a lot from the sell of our mines.
Iwe h² why did you not advise Government properly that selling our assets – mines was wrong. In the end you saw an opportunity of thievery and amassed wealth out’a wasting asset.
Also I guarantee you that not all youths in Zambia are pro agriculture. Diversification does not always lead to agriculture from Mines. You dream administration would be chipante pante.

    • This particular man has a serious history of crookedness. Too many questions surrounding his life which he refuses to give answers for.

  2. MINISTRY OF FINANCE ISSUES A *CLARIFICATION* *on job advert*

[ *CLARIFICATION:* In Monday’s edition 06/01/2020 we erroneously stated _Bemba_ as an added advantage, *we regret the inconvenience caused.* The advert was placed in the _Zambia Daily Mail_ and a corrected version of the said advert has been placed in the same newspaper.
The additional language requirement should read: *Ability to communicate in Lozi is an added advantage.*

Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply and contribute to the successful implementation of the project, and development in the catchment area and nation at large.

    • Dr.Mambwe the UNZALARU general secretary had ably describe who the 1di0ts are and we know then. They are the ones who make such mistakes.

  4. …….Wouldn’t be surprised if the “error” was deliberately made by a desperate UPND trible to excite U.PND tribles. I bet the same trible cadre in the ministry would “mistakenly” put Si.lozi as a requirement for a similar job in the heart of Bem.baland.
    How desperate people can be!!

  5. Firstly before I respond to the infant politician, I would like to say thanks to lusaka times for taking onboard my critical advice and views on the website layout. This is what I wanted thr website to look like and for doing this you will have me here permanently and exclusively. Back to baby HH, what do you know about a nation’s human resources? Managing a nation is not like managing grant Thornton or a farm. You lack the experience of serving in public office. Not even as councillor. Meaning that tasila has more experience than you and she may be president before you. Kz

    • KZ, you. are so intellectually backward. So the drunk with no vision who has overseen the economic activity drop from an GDP of growing at over 7% to just over 1% had requisite experience because he held cabinet portfolios? Pathetic

    • Kaizer you and your PF who claim to have experience in public office have utterly failed the country and everyone can not only see it but they feel it too.

  6. By the way, i am travelling back to the best city in Africa, Lusaka. After enjoying the weekend in kafue with old friends Iwent to school with. Travelling mercies. Kz

  7. Akainde your time has run out! Next year elections. Your 7th defeat.
“They stole my election” Then you went mad burning markets like Armagedon. Then you raced with the Presidential motorcade.
Next time we’ll spray chili teargas on your privates if you try to dare the Presidency. Silly Under 5.

  8. I think HH should remain focussed on issues that will win us the next election i.e. Hunger, Poverty, Fuel prices, High Taxes, High Youth unemployment, etc
Lately, HH seems distracted by highly superficial issues that a common person in Chibolya or Kanyama wouldn’t understand easily like the Human Resource Asset, etc.
No matter how well meaning and strategic Hakainde is on this issue, a struggling voter who cannot feed his children in the compound and who is likely to vote will just get disillusioned by UPND as well on this one and decide to vote PF or NDC instead!
HR Asset is hopeless and doesn’t show seriousness to an uneducated voter so stop it, don’t get too excited, ok!! How can HH be thinking of bringing people living abroad in luxury as priority before our unemployed youths -…

    • He has suffered from ANALYSIS PARALYSIS for a long time. Doing the same thing that has failed to work for him.
Plus he seem to be an expert in squandering opportunities.

  10. HR Asset is hopeless and doesn’t show seriousness to an uneducated voter so stop it, don’t get too excit ed, ok!! How can HH be thinking of bringing people living abroad in luxury as priority before our unemployed youths – that is plainly ludicrous? With such reckless pronouncements, I can see HH single handedly, (not UPND), gifting this election to PF again like he did when Sata died and these are hard facts!
Itis high time UPND started having clear policies. We don’t want another 10 point plan that confused voters because it promised too much which people never believed anyway! HH should taking colleagues seriously and not making pronouncements that have not been discussed at the party level! I am advising as a responsible member here; i want us to win resoundingly so don’t mess it…

  11. HH HAS NO BRAINS! HE WANTS TO BRING BACK PEOPLE WHO ARE VERY COMFORTABLE IN THE DIASPORA TO ZAMBIA TO COME AND DO WHAT? IS HE GOING TO MANAGE TO PAY THE DOCTORS THE K500,000,00 PLUS A MONTH SALARY THAT THEY ARE GETTING RIGHT NOW IN THE USA AND CANADA? HE IS REALLY UNDER 5! SATA DIDN’T MINCE HIS ESTIMATION TO CALL HIM UNDER 5! EVEN REGISTERED NURSES ARE PAID MORE THAN K100,000.00 PER MONTH IN THE USA AND CANADA! SURELY WHO CAN GO DONE FROM SUCH HIGH SALARIES TO GETTING K10,000.00 PER MONTH? NOT TO MENTION THE HIGH STANDARD OF LIVING THEY ARE ENJOYING OUT THERE! SECONDLY, THERE’S SO MUCH UNEMPLOYMENT IN ZAMBIA, SO MANY UNIVERSITY GRADUATES ARE JUST ROAMING THE STREETS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO JOBS FOR THEM, HOW CAN DULL HH BE TALKING ABOUT BRINGING PEOPLE WHO ALREADY HAVE VERY GOOD AND HIGH…

  12. EDGAR AND HIS PF EVEN HAVE A BETTER VISION IN THAT OF HICHILEMA AND HIS UPND BECAUSE THEY ARE ENCOURAGING ZAMBIANS IN THE DIASPORA TO COME AND INVEST BACK HOME SO THAT THEY CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWTH OF THE ECONOMY. SECONDLY, EDGAR AND HIS PF ARE TRYING VERY HARD TO RE-ESTABLISH THE INDUSTRIAL BASE OF THE THE COUNTRY WHICH WAS DESTROYED BY FREDERICK CHILUBA, VALENTINE CHITALU, HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, RONALD PENZA ETC THROUGH THEIR FAKE PRIVATIZATION IN THE 1990s, BY CREATING MORE COMPANIES SO THAT JOBS ARE CREATED FOR THE YOUTHS AND GRADUATES FROM THE SEVERAL UNIVERSITIES THAT THE PF GOVERNMENT HAS CREATED! HALUZA HAGAIN!

  13. First by KK declaring that copper is a wasting asset and calling for diversification, he was consigning the number one forex earning venture to the back row. As a result, the mining industry suffered poor or no recapitalization, also little investment went into exploration for further copper deposits and other minerals. It is farcical that we can only begin to mine gold in the 21st century! With hindsight, KK SHOULD HAVE MASSIVELY INVESTED IN THE MINING INDUSTRY and not milk it dry and allow the privatization team to auction it for a song. Chile took valuable lessons on the nationalization of mining assets from Zambia. There ends the similarities! The Chileans invested heavily in both mining technology and human resource training. They pioneered continuous melting technology for the…

  14. …They pioneered continuous melting technology for the smelter. They ran their Codelco mining conglomerate as a commercial entity. They have been and continue to be the world’s biggest copper producer! They consistently post profits which are wholly retained within Chile. And I am sure they are able to retain competent indigenous engineers rather than have them flee to foreign lands. The narrative that UPND will strive to attract back professionals from the diaspora with massive rewards, vcan only alienate you with those that are in the country. The idea should be to retain those that here by improving their lot.

  15. So according to HH the only people that have brains are the Zambian in the diaspora? This is such a careless statement from a person vying for the highest office in the land. Well you have just lost my vote…..let people in diaspora come and vote for you. Nowander even intellectuals can easily call Zambian ‘*****s’ without even any ounce of shame. So for you HH forget 2021

  16. Umwana ashenda atasha nyina ukunaya ubwali. I Think HH is simply mentioning one aspect of stopping the brain drain and that is a good thing for the country. It takes many years to ear an Education and sadly many Zambians have left the country not because they are not patriotic, but they have children’s futures to take care. People in diaspora have the exposure, to how things are run in other countries and can be an invaluable resource in reshaping Zambia. This does not mean that people who have opted to stay have no brains as some commentators have suggested but for various reasons such as family, finances, priorities, businesses etc. Most ambassadors sent out to some countries are completely useless and a drain on resources and HH’s suggestion is a step in the right direction. Lets not…

  17. Zambians! assemble. The people have an opportunity to set things right at the forthcoming elections next year. Analyze and judge what all aspiring candidates are saying weigh that with what you have envisioned Zambia to be like for you and your children. The problem Zambia currently has is more than mellie meal prices, or fuel prices or electricity costs, it is more than load shedding and more than the rampant corruption. The biggest problem is not the problem itself but the lack of solutions to address that particular problem, or if not the lack of solutions then it is the abundance of ineffective, inappropriate solutions to adequately solve the problem.
