PF Toasts Chilubi Victory as UPND Beats Kambwili’s NDC to Second place

Share

The Patriotic Front PF has toasted the Chilubi and other ward by elections PF candidate Mulenga Fube beat four other contenders after polling 16, 653 votes followed by UPND’s Stanslous Chele who got 4, 858, National Democratic Congress candidate Henry Kalenga managed to get 1, 308 followed by Mark Mpundu of People’s Alliance for Change with 1, 016 while United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia’s Charles Kalaba had 279 votes.

PF Secretary general Hon Davies Mwila said that the overwhelming victory in Chilubi is in honor and memory of the late area member of parliament Hon Rosaria Fundanga.

Speaking yesterday morning during a press briefing Hon Mwila who thanked the campaign teams in all the held byelections said the emphatic victories are for development over deceit and violence.

“The Chilubi victory reflects the steadfast commitment of the grassroots in PF strongholds and it reflects the overall positive outcome in 2021” he said.

He said there is a wind blowing across western province and former UPND strongholds replacing the backward agenda of the opposition with the PF’s developmental agenda.

A total of 24, 826 votes were cast, out of which 712 ballot papers were rejected. Chilubi Constituency returning officer John Longwe declared Mr Fube as duly elected Member of Parliament at 09:20 yesterday morning.

And speaking to journalists shortly after being declared winner, Mr. Fube said he will engage all stakeholders to enhance development in Chilubi Constituency.

He also extended an olive branch to his opponents in the race to rise above political differences and work together in developing the area.

Mr. Fube has since praised President Edgar Lungu and the entire PF campaign team for working tirelessly to ensure victory in the by-election.

The newly elected MP further thanked electorates of Chilubi for entrusting him with the seat.

And PF Campaign Manager Chitalu Chilufya said the Chilubi Parliamentary By Election victory is an endorsement of the robust development agenda of the PF administration by the people of Chilubi.

Dr. Chilufya also hailed other players in the Electoral system for ensuring a peaceful campaign and election.

PF Northern Province chairperson Chungu Bwalya said it is high time politicians stopped spreading falsehoods during election times.

  1. Congratulations to our party and commiserations to all those who didn’t win . However you can pat yourself on the back for trying and playing a big role in our democratic process. We hope all the front runners will work with our candidate to ensure the people are served well. Its It’s now time to put politics aside and work together. I am glad my sleepless nights and work have paid off in chilubi. I would like to thank my wife and family firstly for all their support and putting up with my long hours of work. I also thank the entire pf for making this an easy victory. Kz

  2. This is what is going to happen even in 2021. PF will win in its strong holds while UPND will do the same. NDC will win in Roan. The total votes will set some record election loser the record that will be impossible to break for so many years in the history of Zambia.

  3. CK has more votes in the mouth than on the ground, so it appears. After Roan his political fortunes seem to have dwindled. He keeps being shoved to a distant third – first in Kitwe’s Lubwe ward, and now in Chilubi.

I doubt he is adding any value to the UPND quest.

  4. A bunch of useless thieves who think intimidation is winning an election. At this rate I foresee lungu dying. I can smell death around the corner. Even my beautiful whlte wife, who is pregnant by the way, agrees with me.

  5. PF has won and that is what the people wanted. Meaning they are happy with services being provided by PF and happy with their livelihoods. End of story. Where people want change or different style of life they will change if they think its bad or wont if its good. its the peoples choice They are sure they will come out of abject poverty with the choice. Hope they sop begging now. so no need for bad comments.

  6. When it comes to the voting pattern the people of Luapula aren’t different to those of Southern Province, so the opposition must not think they’ll have it easy in this area. They shouldn’t just appear when there are elections, unfortunately PF doesn’t allow even people to gather in churches to discuss politics. They’re surviving on the Public Order Act

  7. Zambia is bigger than up’n down so the results here indicates what will happen in 2021 no doubt about and to doubting Thomas just know that 2021 will be for PF,HH missed it during the time of the late Sata (may his soul rest in peace).so should not even complain because evevn in 2021 iwt will be like what happened in 2016 period. CHILUBI IS A LITIMUS PAPER FOR 2021. KIKIKIKKIKI KWE KWE KWE AKAWAWAWA.

Take a bit of services there.

  9. The fact remains PF can not win in any free and fair election as was brutally shown in chilubi.
PF had to bribe people , spending millions of GRZ money and block the opposition by all means possible.

The upside to this using GRZ to campain by PF is critical resources are spend on bribing the electorate and diverted from service delivery. This is definitely being felt by the hard hit unemployed masses.

Some 70 truck loads purported mukula cargo was recently exported by GRZ , was this to cover the chilubi expenses ?
Instead of ploughing such funds into creating jobs , PF use the money to bribe elections.
    Zambia remains the biggest loser.

  11. In a free election, PF cannot win, the gag the opposition and prevent them from campaigning. They use public resources to bribe voters and prevent the opposition from using vehicles on the island for mobility. During the general election, the amount of mobilisation done by PF in by -elections is NOT possible as each Minister will be busy campaign for their own seat and Lungu on his own has no message. In urban areas no sane person will vote PF again with a sick economy and that is where the large numbers are! THOSE WHO CANT ANALYSE THE FIGURES WELL THING PF IS DOING WELL, WELL DONT FORGET THAT THIS IS A BY-ELECTION WHERE PF UNLEASHED FULL GOVT MACHINERY AND THE PRESIDENT CAMPED THERE FOR DAYS,JUST TO WIN BACK A PARLIAMENTRY SEAT. THE 7,1 82 COMBINED VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITION IN PF’s…

    7
    2
  12. THE 7,1 82 COMBINED VOTE FOR THE OPPOSITION IN PF’s STRONGHOLD REPRESENTS 30.1% OF TOTAL VOTES-SOMETHING UNTHINKABLE IN THE PAST. THIS COULD BE A PATTERN IN RURAL NOTHERN PARTS AND EASTERN,BUT IN URBAN AREAS WHERE THERE EVEN LARGER CONSTITUENCIES, THAT WILL BE REVERSE SCENARIO.WITH REQUIREMENT FOR 50%+1 EL WILL NOT WIN AT 1ST ROUND, HE MAY EVEN FALL IN DISTANT SECOND POSITION UNLESS THEY RIG!!

  13. To those haters above stating that we cannot win in a free election. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t the election free ? I don’t remember any voter being charged a certain amount of money to exercise their right to vote. The problem with opposition is that they are too childish to accept defeat. When we have been defeated in your stronghold have we ever petitioned results like you do ? We take it on the chin and go back to the drawing board. For me if I increase our vote share in your bedroom that is a win to us. By the way who is seer 1? Kikikiki. Kz

  14. Some of you in opposition your wives have told you they are going to church and yet they are here celebrating with us winning the by election, dancing to JKs sunga abana lungu while we dununa them from behind. Life is good. The winning team

    7
    • I nearly thought you insulted on this one as am high thought you said they are celebration with our us wining by erection since you say dununa from behind. That’s not kind KZ

  15. What do you mean PF does not petition results when the opposition wins in their stronghold? Didn’t PF loose a pertion only recently after they lost Sesheke?
Let’s wait and see. Although PF won Chilubi, the opposition have greatly increased their percentage support. This is a reflection of figures in all PF strongholds. Remember, under 50.1 system, PF only won by 0.8 percent in the last election. But now the numbers for the opposition have swelled, more than 30 percent. In short, PF are in deep water. No amount of rigging and vote buying will give PF another win. Zambia can’t wait to be free once again from, violence, corruption, intimidation, stealing, tribalism, witchcraft, Satanism, and list goes on. What a nightmare this beloved country has been subjected to?

  18. Citi – Zambian opposition are too selfish, this seat should have been left to NDC or better still they should have dropped out immediately they were banned from campaigning whilst our campaign specialist President was there for 5 days before polling day.

  19. When you look at KZs posts above after being reminded of elections not being free and fair , it is no wounder with a political advisor like him that Zambias office of the presidency has been reduced to a chawama pit latrine…….

With an advisor like KZ , there are zero morals and integrity at statehouse.

Very sad state of affairs how low our country has sank…..

  20. The people have spoken. They’re contented with PF.
Despite the proliferation of social media, they followed their conscience.
Well done to you KZ, and the rest of the PF team. You guys are familiar with the pulse of the nation.

  21. This should be one of the biggest voter turnouts in any of the rerecently held by elections if my memory is right, beating even that of roan. Where did the motivation come from? I guess eCZ did a good job in voter education. Keep it up

  22. Trible UPND beats pata pata NDC party into second? Oh, so that confirms Chimbwili as 2021 running mate for Trible HH then. Probably will perform worse than GBV, I am sure the bembas cannot be cheated twice.
Imwe ba Trible HH, just apologise for 2006, I may just forgive you and give you a vote as a Zambian presidential candidate and not as a tong or bemba presidential candidate. I give you up to June 2020 after that you have lost it.

  23. I hear that if it was in Trible stronghold, there is no way PF or any other party could garner 4000 votes as Trible UPND has done in Chilubi. Maybe 150.

  24. Spaka , it seems it is only free and fair to you when the upnd win. This is why you will never experience power. You are too childish to grasp leadership qualities. No pf member has claimed you rigged in kalomo where pf failed to get even 1000 votes. If as you claim the pf have the capability to rig don’t you think we would have won kalomo? Just grow up and accept defeat. At this rate and with your childishness I see tasila being president before hh. Take this as free advice from someone who has won elections. The same goes to that clown tarino orange

  25. Congrats for the victory but please allow all opposition parties to freely campaign so that they don’t have I’ll feelings about your victory….REMEMBER, ZAMBIA IS A DEMCRATiC COUNTRY !

  26. KZ

We saw the reports of ati democratic practices in chilubi by PF…….

We say again, we have yet to see PF win a free and fair election under lungu.

You started of very respectable but now you are slowly dragging the office you work for through the mud with your uncouth language creating unnecessary enemies

  28. What pains me is how a sitting cabinet Health minister can find time to be a campaign manager? Whose time is he working under…did he get holidays for one month. This is why PF and Lungu is hell bent to introduce Deputy Ministers and cling on to GRZ resources till Polling Day, to waste resources. They have no heart for the Zambian people just want to waste resources whatever it takes last week they were all on the Island whilst people are getting gassed..the whole President camped on a small island for 4 days without shame.

  29. Pobo again!!! UPND should learn to listen to advice. How many times have people, even on this site, told you to change your strategy? Even some of your sensible followers have given very good advice. But no all you do is concentrate on personalities and moaning, whilst pretending to be very intelligent. For once gracefully accept your defeat and learn from it!!!

  30. This is good news. CKinsultor must learn that insults does not belong to Zambian politics. I am happy the deads beat the hell out’a him.
One need not insult his way to popularity.

Folks a win is a win.
    A lose is a lose.

2021 will not show us something different.
I know PF won’t be complacent.

Yeah! I did not watch to that ” See how a man take down PF’s talking points“.
It stunk upndead rhetoric. More of a Mark Simuwe pushed luck. No devious and satanic in nature.

  31. This is not good for PF. If these 24,000 votes were casted in southern province a UPND candidate would have gotten 23,500 + votes. PF should get worried because UPND getting almost 5,000 votes from your bedroom should worry you because these are the permutations that can land HH the presidency in 2021. Remember 2016 there was 150,000 different despite ECL winning in 7 provinces. UPND does not need to win parliamentary seats in the 7 provinces to win the presidency. They only need enough votes 20 to 30% of the casted votes in the 7 provinces. PF must wake up from slamber to win 2021.

  32. Thats why UPND has not petitioned these elections because they understand that if they can build on this then it may just be a game changer for them. Of the 40,000+ registered voters doubling this number in 2021 will be a good thing for UPND. Unfortunately PF can not say the same in UPND strong holds. The PF strategists must be ashamed of themselves because this shows UPND is a step ahead of them. PF should use chilubi results and reflect them in similar constituencies and increase UPND votes on the line of rail to 40 or 45% and see if these results can give them the presidency. Thats how you strategise not just shouting we will win we will win when actual results of by elections are showing your opponent gaining ground.

  33. what is wrong with upnd party? cos mr chele had more votes wen he stood as an independent and the the party has bn in existence for almost 20yrs and they are comparing themselves to a 1 yr NDC party. is it normal

  34. The last free and fair election, get it in your thick skull K Zulu, was the one PF won in 2011, since then when do violence consitute a free and fair election, when does chasing opposition in the election zones and allow a president campaign on his own a free and fair election. Zambia must regret the day PF came to power, most violet and tribilist political formation. I am waiting for discussion of the voting patterns in Chilubi 16k PF, 4K UPND …..

  35. FOR,HEAVENS SAKE PF CAN NOT WIN ELECTIONS. WHY,DID THEY TELL CK AND HH TO LEAVE THE ISLAND WHEN THEY WERE ALLOWED TO CAMPAIGN? AND BOSS KZ IS AYING THAT PF IS STILL POPULAR!!!!KIKIKI,WAIT AND C.

  36. This is one by election Zambia as a nation won. All ten provinces. The president did not go flying around and costing the nation millions on entourage and logistics when the AU meetings were happening. Next time their is Abby election I hope it is scheduled for another regional SADC or AU meetings kikikiki.
