Share

Frank Mugala, the grade 8 pupil who shot and killed by the police on the 13th February at the school gate as he was knocking off for lunch, was today laid to rest.

Frank Mugala, happened to be the nephew of Deputy Speaker of House- Catherine Namugala. The Deputy Speaker has demanded to know why a child carrying school books was gunned down by the police.”How safe are communities now?” she asked. She said the police who are supposed to be protecting the community are making communities insecure. The police were said to be dispersing a riot when a stray bullet killed the grade 8 school boy.

Meanwhile irate Monze Residents damaged Chibuyu Police post this morning. This was after a word went round that suspected gassers where being held by the police.

  1. She has now reacted just because the boy who was killed is her relative. Where was she when Vesper was killed by the police at UNZA?

  2. This is the results of a PF cader police force used mainly to suppress democracy…….eventually things breakdown if every system of governance is corrupted to serve the ruling party……there is no law and Oder,

  3. THIS VIOLENCE NEED TO BE STOP NOW.
see what this is leading us to, someone said violence begets violence, zambia is one small country were we are all related someway, when you throw a stone in any direction its likely to fall on someone related to you, who you have no idea he or she is related to you.
    #STOPTHISVIOLENCE.

  4. Is the last picture before and the first picture after? whats the caption about plot for sale K4?

    Bane lets stop this violence.

  5. My condolesecnces to you madam. However ,these are sameuntrained pf cadres you have given uniforms and guns. Why do you use live amour on unarmed citizens? If they were trained they wolud have employed the counter measure and riot control strategies.

There is so much anger in the country and I don’t know whether pf is aware of the situation. How many more police stations are going to be burnt?
Where are the Christians for Lungu to call for prayers.Where is the religious Minister to call for fasting and prayers.
Some weeks ago she called for prayers because Seer 1 had threatened to kill them if they did not return the charms.

  6. This is Catherine Namugala’s own funeral and she has the right to mourn and complain. She’s not the supervisor of the police and has not celebrated the killing of others by the police.

  7. Question to the IG, is it the practice to dis pace people with live bullets? If NOT who was the commander who issued instructions to OPEN FIRE

  8. You only get to know how bad the situation is when death knocks at your door. Opposition MPs have laboured to inform the government through the Speaker about the deteriorating standards of policing but we just say “order, order” and it ends there. Many innocent people have been shot or hacked to death and our leaders don’t seem to get moved. Are their collective conscious seered with a hot iron? Or is it Seer1’s charms? If live bullets are used over a small fracas, it means police are not well trained these days! Professional police should not behave like cadres!

  9. Shouldn’t guns be consigned to specialist armed units – not regular beat Police? I think there are too many guns in irresponsible hands in Zambia these days.

  10. By the time this episode is over, there will be very sad losers as the law closes in. It’s a well known fact that some opposition groupings have been heavily funded by neo-colonialists to cause confusion in our country so that a proxy govt. is installed for their benefit. After threatening to freeze funding, are these the preludes to the “revolution” that will unseat the legitimately voted PF GRZ??

  11. The so called Mother of the Nation never even visited the funeral house. Just crying because she’s scared of being booted out of State House. Rupiah Banda cried, Esther Lungu cries, why people cry to think they’re leaving State House?

  12. I don’t belive there is any gassing , only mass hysteria fuelled by a country that belives too much in witchcraft and god , starting from state house…..

Zambias is a religious and miracle based economy , while developed progressive nations have talent based economies. Lungu believes god will develop Zambia.

  13. That police commander who was in charge must be arrested with immediate effect. Condolences for your loss but it’s forest for trees madam.

  14. @Zambian Citizen, when is it closing in finally? Until all of us are killed?!? What is the law doing? Where are your prayers? How come your cadres do not know? They do run the country. How are the others being funded? Does your KZ not have the intel? Why are Zambians being taken for fo.ls constantly?

  15. God will judge everyone when He comes. Jesus knows the wicked better they know themselves.
The fear of the Lord JESUS is the beginning of wisdom.
No one who fears God can glass, kill or maim anyone for the love of a human being.
Hear the way some politicians talk, you wonder if they know Jesus.

  16. The police do not have balls anymore, now Namugala knows and feels how the majority poor people who have no one to speak for them feel. Please now go and shoot Tasila and gas Lusambo maybe these clowns will wake up from slumber!

  17. We are now becoming a failed state under Lungu and he has no shame about it, people torching Police stations is a sign that they have lost faith in the officers in uniform who have been infiltrated with cadres. No one has been taken to court up to now …this is similar to the market bombings where no one was brought before the courts.

    • Tarino are you sure you are saying the truth?is this a failed state?Do you know what you are honestly talking about? if you have nothing to say stay put.

  18. The problem is that we have a callous man in State House who has basic understanding of leadership or history of the FTJ era where his regime used such schemes …this is a hot potato which should handled delicately even call in independent outside Police wings if you have to.

  19. I hope the families of the boy find a good lawyer to sue the pants off that silly IG and his trigger happy cadres together with the former Katondo St Currency Dealer Stephen…how do you fire a firearm low at children without shame..is that what they train you at Lilayi in your module on crowd control

  20. The bullet came from trigger happy C5 cops. These guys are so obsessed with shooting people in the guise of pursuing criminals. To them there is no such thing as arresting suspects but killing is their livelihood. The young man is gone but they remain free and will continue to eliminate suspects.

  21. BIG LESSON TO MAMA NAMUGALA & OTHER P.F, CADRES / OFFICIALS!
First they came for the Socialists, I didn’t speak out coz I weren’t as Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, I said nothing, coz weren’t a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, I said nothing, as I weren’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Watchtower, I said nothing as I weren’t Jehovah’s witness.
THEN THEY CAME FOR ME, & THERE WAS NO ONE LEFT TO SPEAK FOR ME!

  22. The problem again and again is, on top of his massive short falls , as if that was not punishment enough for Zambia , lungu believes to much in witchcraft and godly miracles…….a superstitious mind is the worst mind you can get , especially one that does not belive in the rule of law and has long fingers….it’s disaster if he’s in charge.

Now all the masses if unemployed also belive in witchcraft and godly miracles…..

To them God will fix anything with national prayers while witchcraft is high on the agenda.

Zambia has become foundamentalist church and witchcraft nation.

  23. Lusakatimes can you have some respect for the dead and ensure you read proof these article before you post them. RIP young man. Too young and very sad.kz

  24. KZ

Apart from the mention of mr lungu above , you have to agree that Zambia has become a fundamentalist Christian and black magic nation.

  25. @spaka on this particular issue I agree with you there is no gassing, no lab report has been presented to the media by the police or even the MOH.

What is happening here is mass hysteria that is now trickling down to the masses and catching up with innocent people, such a sad situation this is.

You can’t even go to your maize field or garden to spray against weeds or army worms due to fear of being attacked by these evil instant justice gangs. This is not the life we in Zambia want.

  26. 2020vision

Common sense should tell us that no one has the organisational skills to carry out a sustained gassing campaign

To KZ and the authorities, you will save yourselves and much time in admitting that this is mere mass hysteria because of too much foundamentalist Christian and black magic beliefs, your response to the nation need to address these vices

  27. Even better for lungu to call a meeting with all opposition and order a cease fire in media attacks. We all know high unemployment with dodgy beliefs is the cause of this.

All opposition parties and grz need to come together and put aside politics for now to heal this country

  28. Bullets don’t choose between PF and UPND, Bemba or Tonga, Common man or so called honourables!
What is good for PF should be good for UPND and everybody! What is bad for PF should be bad for everyone! PF’s selective application of the law is what has fractured our society. Jesus said Love your enemies! Do good to all! The Apostle Paul said owe no one anything except love!

  29. Mr lungu ,

There is no one gassing anybody , you know this by now, instead of fiddling about with theories and lies , call for a cease fire of politics and meet with the opposition, the price to pay will be nothing compared to letting the situation fester, put aside politics for now , the whole lot of you.

The military or police or jail will not fix the situation.

  30. It is very simple madam Mugala, ask Lusambo he will tell you its was UPND which pulled the trigger? Oh you reacted because this time you are affected? Vespers and other people died the same way, never mind Honourable, it was just a stray bullet!

  31. However is the mastermainder of this will never know piece…burning markets and now innocent kids are being killed…and start spreading fake news of ritual killing yet no persons gassed have died, no one has blood drained but only suspects are being killed

  32. Nyooo! Now you see how ordinary people feel every time IG Kanganyoo and Lungu unleash their rabid dogs on the opposition and ordinary Zambians. This is karma, these same police will one day soon turn their guns on Namugalu herself and Lungu! Only time will tell, unomwaka kunya banee!

  33. The problem is that even dull people can afford a smart phone and the clever ones are using social mediate to manipulate the small minds.

  34. We shouln’t play with God Lord the Almighty , Pastors for Lungu call for Prayers , things become worse than before , do they Pray to God or to seer 1 ? Let us be careful and come bck to real God . He shall remove all this devilish happenings . The Key is which God are we Praising in Zambia ? Seer 1 will not take you any where . at the end of the day mwasebana . ifyakulya ubushiku fitulikila kumalushi. God is about to do something in Zambi , mark my word . all fake prophets, fake pastors , fake leaders shall perish very soon

  35. No one is saying that she is celebrating. All they are saying is that as a leader, she could have been more upfront in condemning police violence than wait for her own relative to die first before being hit with the realization of the brutal police

  36. @ Kaizar Zulu, whoever you may be:

I agree that proof-reading is important.
Therefore I suggest that you start with checking your own ‘contributions’.
E.g.: you wrote today “you read proof these article”.
What about either “this article”, or “these articles” ?

  37. My condolences madam Mugala.
Proper policing went with the UNIP government, then the boys in Pierre Cardin suites came and recruited kaponyas, ngwangwazi, kabwalas, the misfits into the police service that is the time we buried the police force and this is what we are dealing today. Muli ba KK you it was instant dismissal for a policeman to be found drunk, shopping, eating in public in uniform. Nomba awe sure pa road block Ali pa phone, weave it Brazilian ili mu waist, guarding a bank Ali pa phone, police tilibe.
