Arsonists Set Fire To Nakonde Clinic

Share

Unknown people have burnt part of the Urban clinic in Nakonde District of Muchinga Province.

Nakonde District Health Director, Arthur Mataka and Nakonde District Commissioner Field Simwinga have both confirmed the development to the Zambia News and Information Services, ZANIS.

Dr Mataka said some people attempted to set ablaze the entire Maternal Child health department but only the examination room was affected.

Two examination beds, curtains and 3 infection bins were burnt.

Dr Mataka said the building was also sprinkled with suspected petrol but the fire did not spread to the other rooms that were sprinkled, as the examination room had buckets of water that quenched the fire.

And Nakonde District Commissioner Field Simwinga has warned whoever is perpetrating such illegal acts that the Police is on the ground and will soon catch up with them.

The DC lamented that the burning of part of the MHC department at the clinic has affected operations of the medical personnel as they have to find an alternative building to examine children and expectant mothers.

This is the third attack on the health facility in two months.

Last month, unknown people broke into the clinic and stole a computer and a Television set.

  2. There’s something being hidden from the public. Look, the country is falling apart. Time has come to close ranks but there’s no leadership under which to close ranks. Who’s going to stop this?

  4. First it was gassing, now its arsonists. This getting out of hand. Whoever is behind these acts of terrorism are trying to really bring anarchy in the nation.
We need to work together to deal with this regardless of political affiliation. The stability of the nation is in serious danger.
I would also implore both Pf and the opposition to stop blaming each other, but rather to put their heads together to find a solution. If the nation erupts into flames, there will be no winners.
The careless statements from scum like bowman lusambo and sunday chanda need to be curtailed please

  5. What training did the Youth go to do in Sudan sent by PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba and Defense Minister then GBM in 2012. No wonder GBM was on record saying that this started sometime back. We need more light to be shed on this. Countries like Sudan are well known for terrorist acts such as what we could be witnessing here. Pf please come out and give us more details. After a few arrests of PF surrogates Sunday Chanda who was so mouthy about the gassing has being political has suddenly gone quiet.

  6. CCTV provides a lot of security. INSTALL SECURITY CAMERAS. Why are we so backward in Zambia? Install security cameras all around the building and inside. You’ll soon begin to catch the culprits. All government buildings and public places such as markets, malls, stores , hospitals, clinics, schools, etc, should have security cameras. They prevent crime and help catch criminals in the act. Start installing security cameras throughout the country.

  7. THIS IS WHY I HATE OPPOSITION POLITICS IN ZAMBIA. In their simple minds they think they can get an advantage in elections with acts like this. May God contend with those that are contending with his people and make the land vomit them out.

  9. It turns out nothing was burnt but the items mentioned were just stolen by medical staff to set up their own clinics at their houses…very common in Zambia….and Lusaka Times downloading inferno images from the internet to fool people…fake news

  10. Ndoleshyafye – even your boss ECL is just looking and cant take action to arrest the suspect. The best he can do is KULOLESHAYFYE and offer K250,000.00 for anyone with information. I wonder if Sparks Mulenga one of Lungu’s copperbelt black mountain copper thief friend is an opposition. So far those arrested in Chingola plus sparks are PF surrogates. Shame on you and keep looking.

  11. In the US they have a saying to coin such ‘that’s why we can’t have nice things’

  12. Fire couldn’t spread out because of water that unavailable in buckets to help quench the fire. Then it’s not petrol that was used for petrol action is well known in combustion! Hard to believe it’s arson when health centers normally remain attended 24 hours through and through! Someone must have been careless and management at the clinic want to cover the fact.
