Kalusha Bwalya appeals to Court of Arbitration for Sports to allow him stand for FAZ Presidency

Share

Football Icon KALUSHA BWALYA has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports CAS against the FAZ decision to STOP him from contesting the FAZ Presidency.

And KALUSHA wants FAZ to rescind its decision to STOP from taking part in the election.

In a letter addressed to the CAS Secretary General by Spain based Sports Lawyer PAOLO TORCHETT representing KALUSHA BWALYA, he has indicated that the decision by the FAZ Electoral Committee be reviewed and declare him eligible for the election.

TORCHETT has proposed that the matter must be treated with urgency so that the CAS can issue an award before the Presidential elections set for March 28, 2020.

He further requested CAS to suspend the holding of the upcoming presidential elections pending the result of the case before Court of Arbitration for Sports -CAS-.

TORCHETT said failure by FAZ to suspend the election his client BWALYA, will pursue all legal avenues before the CAS to seek for interim relief.

Last week, FAZ Electoral Committee declared that there are THREE Candidates for the FAZ Presidency.

  1. Stand up for what you think is right. Kalusha is doing good by fighting this via the right channels and not just crying through the media like some well known opposition party does. Kz

  4. In Zambia today football is like dogs versus cats. Kamanga claims to have improved football while even monkeys can laugh lungs out. Football is won on the pitch and not justifying theories. Kalusha is a winner. Twice no afcon action. I wonder if we will manage to go even this one, 2021. Ba Kamanga they say the end justifies the means. Even if Kalusha fails to stand for this FAZ elections, your wont win this one. Hatred must have limits. All the best Kalu….

  5. It is very evident that Kalusha feels that he can never survive outside football, but that alone should have made him know that financial malpractices do no pay in the long run, But what he should understand is that FAZ has not actually pulled out a full dozzier of what makes Kalusha ineligible all because they want to leave him with some dignity, other wise if they have to say it all Kalusha will be hanged out to dry, one of the softer issues which he also ought to know is that FIFA does not allow its members to be politically affiliated to political parties and everyone knows that Kalusha is PF and it is very evident as to why even the Minister of sport is acting in a confused manner of late, we leave the harder facts to arbitration.

  6. Ba Mayor, give Kalusha a plot and not just naming a road after him, otherwise he will become the flattest person on the universe.

  7. This man better look for a Job in Government. He campaigned for PF and went around the rallies. We dont forget.

  8. He should have thought of his long term future before he started taking bribes and embezzling public funds. Sorry mate, but no room for corrupt people at that level. Join the PF because that’s where you’ll fit in perfectly.

  10. The chap is just wasting his time, Zambia is done with thieves and he will see with his friends the PF next year, kuya no kunya bebele. Imagine doing all this only to lose the elections badly, he will be the butt of all jokes. And why is his upper lip fatter than the lower one, did his new wife inject botox in there?

  11. sometime back before kamanga, we used to experience instances were when there is a football match tickets would run out, but when you go to the stadium you will find people with bundros of tickets selling at higher than recommended price, why was that the case?

  12. Kalusha please do not over-rate yourself. You have failed to manage your own personal issued and now the chickens have come home to roost. Compare yourself to Yaya Traore, Mutombo Dikembe or Kanu and you will see that time is almost past for you to get a life.

  13. You miss the point. The guy has very little to show for all the talk about footballer of the year 1988. His peers like Mutombo Dikembe have built hospitals in their home countries while Kanu runs successful business. The question is what else can he do now that he failed to do when he had the chance?

  15. Kalusha took a bribe. He was suspended and after review the suspension was reduced and he had actually served it. In terms of justice, he has paid his dues. In terms of integrity, his record has been tinted. By virtue of having served his term, he should not be punished twice by being disqualified from standing, otherwise Kamanga may have a clause to eliminate opponents he fears. The people voting should decide whether they can entrust the leadership back to the convicted bribe taker. It should not be Kamanga and his friends making the call. If he was still suspended, yes, he cannot stand. but the suspension is over. Is Kamanga scared?

  16. Isn’t holding elections something enshrined in the FAZ constitution, i doubt that CAS would order a stop to the scheduled election to fulfill one person’s insatiable appetite for “wa mu yayaya” syndrome. Am sure if CAS found that his exclusion did not follow the due process, then he can seek other remedies. Interestingly, he his also seeking CAS to declare him eligible for the election, this is highly unlikely since eligibility is determined by organ established by FAZ in accordance with their constitution and best he can expect or hope for is that the matter would be referred back to FAZ for the process to be adhered to or FAZ to be reprimanded in an event that the decision comes after the election. We want sanity at FAZ, not to be turned into a battlefield for cadres. By the way,…

  17. The Court of Arbitration for Sport is an international quasi-judicial body established to settle disputes related to sport through arbitration.
Kalushas issue borders on the abrogation of FIFA and Member Association statutes. Its a more like legal issue.
It has nothing to do with arbitration or negotiation.
Last time Kalusha run to the FIFA Secretary General to resolve the dispute with the Kamanga. Why is he not seeking FIFA’s intervention this time around?

  18. The desparate danger of having one skill, and one skill only. To all of us, be warned. Disgraceful.
The man lost his football skills, ageism has arrived, and worst of all, he lost his house to a loan shark. Really pitful

  20. Not called Football Icon for nothing, KALUSHA BWALYA. I like that spirit. At least for you fans want you.
No filthies like Kamanaga in soccer and h² in politics.
    Kumonafye ati kalijo aka.
Great Kalu, after the faz presidency then what? We need to futurize ka?
We could smell another cup with football icon Great Kalu.
So allow KALU to stand and let the people dump him for G or give him another chance.
As for me, performance indicators matter. He won us a cup.

  22. @Independent – you are right…why didnt this Galu do the same when he tried to contest for a position, why is he hellbent with this, is it because its a FAZ fellow Africans…at FIFA he quietly excused himself when talk of integrity came up, this just goes to show this man has not changed; the moment the takes over its back to running FAZ like his katemba. PF govt through its dull miinister of sport is using this Galu to not sign the new Football Manager’s contract…again they are just de-campaigning themselves as Kamanga will just point to them.

  23. Peter Rajesh Nkhoma – because we dont want to go back to the system where there was shortage of tickets on sale as Galu’s ticket touting boys were hoarding all of them for the match, we dont want a situation where a jersey sponsor is brought on board only to be undercut by Galu’s Chinese dodgy replicators …to hell with this thief…he has no address in Zambia are you going to pay for his hotel in CB and LK or return airfare to SA?

  25. For this man to go to such an extent of even hiring international lawyers and fight his case just for one position of FAZ president, he knows how much money there is to be made in that position and therefore will not give up otherwise no one can go to such lengths just to serve the people.

  26. Kalu The Great MUST never let these uncircumcised philistines win this battle. Instead, he should take the fight to these imbeciles. Kamanga is a st.upid failure who has soiled Zambian soccer!

  27. To PF supporters, corruption seems to be accepted as being part of the job……..someone has to chew they say.

  28. Never allow a desperate person to vie for that position. He is broke let him be employed as a PS in the ministry of sports by his PF friends to ease his financial situation but for football he already has his two terms what else does he think he can offer?

  29. Please allow this pompwe to stand he will die outside FAZ and them paying his hotel bills and all his other expenses. He will grab the coaches pickup when he is in town and decide who plays and who doesnt…..he is a simple crook and thug…’yali nikongole fye…’ but never paid back and whilst his fellow corrupt administrators walked away with millions he walked away with 80000 pocket change….after CAS throw out his case he will owe the Italian lawyer ..his wife has ties with the Sicilian chaps hence this is a debt that will be paid from faz coffers…..

  30. I for one cant understand this guy. A person of his caliber can sink so low to behave football presidency is the only job he can do. Then apply for some job in Malawi.
