UPND Convoy to Mpika will be Unlawful, HH not among people Summoned-Zambia Police

Share

Zambia Police has said that calls by the United Party for National Development (UPND) officials, calling for people will be tantamount to unlawful assembly or conducting an illegal procession that is against the law.

In a statement released to the media by Zambia Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo, Zambia Police advised the people wishing to do so not to proceed with their plan.

“There is no need for sympathisers , in this regard, to come into conflict with the law. As per our mandate of maintaining law and order in the country, we will be at hand to do just that,” Mrs Katongo said.

“We therefore advise all those planning to travel to Muchinga Province for the above mentioned reason to rescind their decision,”

Mrs Katongo further said that it is not true that the opposition UPND leader, Mr Hakainde Hichilema is among those summoned.

  2. Zambia Police needs reform nothing good comes out this public institution.

PF can gather without permission and opposition what wicked way of handlijn public matters?

I knew Edgar Lungu that he is a coward of all presidents we ever had.

He is using public institutions to suffocate his opponents the day when he learn it harder.

This type of old fashioned type suppressing divergent views must end. We all fighting g of common good for everyone and that’s peace.

You can’t enjoy peace when you suffocate your neighborhood that’s quenching fire.

The character of an individual depicts his or her background.

People who fear critism behave in a similar fashion.

    PF must go!

  3. We are reaching astage where people are likely to turn against police because unfair treatment.

There will be total chaos if you want us to go that route. If you can’t handle it tge people will handle it.

We are seeing injustices perpetuated by the PF government aligned police.

We shall fight back to defend our party and people. No amount of intimidation shall succeed.

    PF must go!

  4. Finally it has sunk in that the Zambia Police and it’s PIG have no capacity to investigate crime. Had it not been for those videos doing rounds on the net, HH could have been summoned and even worse been arrested on fake charges.

Don’t quote me wrong, there are still a few upright Police officers doing a good job under a wrong PIG command.

What a waste of space by PF/GRZ.

    Good morning Zambia.

  6. Which law is this woman quoting? Suddenly the PF government is riding roughshod on its citizens at will. Let those who feel the need to sympathize with their leaders do so. Ba PF if you cannot see where this is leading those of us observing are now at the edge of our seats. Please leave your citizens alone to do what they wish to. Mwa m’tendere ndipo.

  7. Don’t drive people to their limits deliberately. What is the use? It is better to pursue peaceful engagement than confrontation. Leadership on political cases should be led by political leadership, not by Police force and thuggery.

  8. In a democracy, everyone has right to protest or demonstrate. But it should be within the legal and constitutional framework. It is understood that opposition will try to corner government on every possible issue. However, it should not base its battle on misleading information.

  10. Protests can be accepted, but not the efforts to de-stabilise country in the disguise of people’s rallies. This is just undemocratic.

  11. It’s always around election time that the ever losing upnd begin to be demon possessed. We see them doing outlandish things like childish demon possessed monkeys. Surly in this day and age who organises convoys of cars. For what ? Let them be warned. If they try to destabilise this nation, this time around we will not pardon allegations of treason. Enough is enough. Let him try the people of Zambia. He will know who God is.

  12. Police can’t dictate the terms like this. People will gather to stage demonstrations wherever they feel necessary. It is the job of police to ensure that law is upheld in any situation. They should do so at any cost.

  13. If the planned protest is for a good cause, then why spread roumers of Hakainde Hichilema being arrested or summoned by police? UPND seems to have gone back to its old strategy to play victim card.

  15. Why is the Zambia Police a confrontational institution? It behaves very much like the colonial police and the vigilantes that were employed in America to capture and arrest runaway slaves. The ZP is always in the news not for any good done, like apprehending robbers and murderers but confrontation with opposition party leaders and their cadres. I beg my relative Mr K Kanganja, please change the narrative and act like your illustrious predecessors like Mataka, Chela, Mtonga etc who worked under the One Party state but were still very professional.

Now lungu knows there is a video of pf attacking HH , he has instructed police not to call HH incase the police and PF tyranny gets exposed…..
