Chilanga records 11 cholera Cases, no deaths.

Acting Chilanga District Commissioner, Maureen Chilende says the district has recorded 11 positive cholera cases since the outbreak in December, 2025 with all patients treated and discharged and no deaths reported.

Ms Chilende says four new cases were recorded last week from Musamba and Game-Sangalala areas.

Speaking during the Cholera Response meeting, Ms Chilende said all the new cases were treated and discharged.

She said the cases were reported and that currently no patient was in admission and no deaths have been recorded.

Ms Chilende explained that the distribution of chlorine has continued in affected areas stating that community sensitisation on cholera prevention and control measures was also an on-going exercise to prevent the further outbreak of the disease.

She noted that the Health Department has maintained two oral rehydration centres in Game-Sangalala and Linda Malupili, including active case search through community surveillance.

Chilanga Town Council Assistant Director for Public Health Services, Mulawo Nkomesha said the 10, 000 litre water tank in Game-Sangalala area was refilled every 24 hours for safe drinking water

He added that plans were underway for another 10, 000 litre water tank in the Sosco area of Chilanga Ward.
