The Bank of Zambia (BOZ) has withdrawn 94 per cent of old currency notes from circulation.
BOZ Manager for Payment Systems Designation, Jack Dumingu, said the figure was recorded at the end of January 2026.
Speaking in Chipata, Mr Dumingu said the central bank expects to complete the currency withdrawal exercise by the end of March 2026.
He said the Bank has undertaken extensive sensitisation programmes to ensure that members of the public, including those in rural areas, are informed about the exercise.
