Lusaka’s Nkoloma Ward Councillor Tasila Lungu has distributed close to 1,000 pairs of new shoes to vulnerable children in Ndola rural.
The beneficiaries were under privileged children from Nselala Community School and Silangwa Primary School in Chief Nkambo’s chiefdom and Chinondo Primary School and Mutaba School in Senior Chief Mushili’s chiefdom respectively.
The gesture was part of her recently launched ‘Going Miles for Smiles’ shoe distribution programme.
Tasila who is also President Edgar Lungu’s daughter has been running for sometime under the Ubulayo Initiative which also focusing on education.
“I must confess that every time I visit the children at the various schools, hand them new shoes, spend time trying to understand the challenges they face and interacting with their parents, it is a blessing,” Tasila said.
“It gives me great pleasure to address these young people of today because I know they will become the responsible citizens of tomorrow,” she said.
She added, I salute the teams of dedicated teachers in these remote settings and appreciate the efforts they put in to better the lives of our young people.”

  1. Mukula and Contracts dispenser money at work. Its good to give even stolen money through his Grace you can be saved.

    • These are by products of corruption…too much money so the easiest way is launder it in a Charity org by distributing cheap shoes to children who dont need such cloth shoes!!

    • @Jay Jay below, kikiki you remind me of those Shoulin shoes we used in secondary School, with brown base. Same price as half bar of dambo soap.

    • Exactly like her father, no idea how to teach people how to fish. Again exactly like ba Kaunda wa muyayaya, whereas he offered food coupons, she is dangling bamaliposa. How brainless can this family be?

  2. I have no problems with her; my problem is with her father because of corruption, lies and violence in PF; I know she is doing it to support her father’s 3rd term bid; but i support her charity because she is a Zambian and doing it for the poor when when the motive is wrong;

    • How can Tasila’s work be charity when she’s supporting her father’s hidden motive for power and greed? She’s simply taking advantage of the poor vulnerable women and children. This in itself is corruption disguised in charity work. Handouts don’t empower people at all. People in work can feed and clothe more children than the shoes she’s been donating. Tasila and her father should be creating jobs and not dependency.

  3. Useless ventures …you can see in the picture that the girls were wearing shoes before they were given those sholins cloth shoes…we had them in the 80 and 90s they dont even last a month. why can you not have empowering projects like libraries, books to read……only god knows where she gets the money that maybe taxpayers money being given back to them.

    • Ba JJ, she’s meeting a need she’s identified and has a passion for. If your burden is books, please go ahead and do something about it. Mine could be to meet their nutrition needs. So there’s room for all of us to do our respective contributions and unwarranted criticism is definitely not part of it!! Keep it up TL!

    • Umwina Nkana
You have ignored the question from your friend.Where is she getting the money,to whom does she account. These are the things that bring unnecesary suspicion.A mere child of the president now running an NGO,not just the motrher.Again this speaks volumes about our president. It is like anyone so long as he or she is on his side can do as they please. Some can assault people and use profanities right in his presence, some can slap, some can be violent even at Sata’s funeral total indesci[pline.

  4. At least she stands out from other presidents’ children some of whom were only contributing criminality to our society!

    • Channeling stolen cash into a charity is money laundering and a very serious criminal offence. Please be alert to the fact that criminality comes in all shapes and sizes. This is the gullibility in us Zambians of failing to dig deeper into the causes of our current problems. Beware of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

    • @ Ned, you come out like a person who knows something some of us don’t know. Please share it rather than reducing yourself to a malicious coward anonymously making wild insinuations all over the place!

    • @Umwina nkana haven’t you read about the buildings she’s constructing in Zambia using the Chinese? Open your eyes to what is happening in your country. It’s not rocket science to know that her funding is dubious. Where was she all this time to now start parading cameras before her “donations”

  5. Those are not shoes but winter slippers. She should have bought Bata Toughees. Rural area you are distributing disposable shoes?

  6. Empty thoughts: opening a library it’s long lasting…this is just a waste of money and time…most of those girls already has shoes…

    • She might as well give them chewing gums as thats what those cloth shoes are; they feel good a few days then you throw away!!

  7. This is a good gesture whether its from stolen money or not.Tasila or the Edgar Lungu family has a heart for the poor.they always share with the poor on weekly basis.
HH stole money through privatization,do we see him sharing stolen money with any Zambian?Never!!GBM also got money corruptly when he was a minister of defence.does GBM share with the poor?Never!!ALL YOU SEE IS SHOWING OFF AND SPONSORING EXPENSIVE WEDDINGS FOR HIS CHILDREN!!!
In case you dont know, this is where HH and GBM miss it.these little things attract a lot of votes especially from the poor.sponsoring poor marketeers and now giving shoes to these villagers will add more votes to PF in 2021-mark my words!!THE POOR FEEL APART OF PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU!!SO WHEN HH LOSE HE MUST NOT SAY ELECTIONS WERE RIGGED BECAUSE HELPING…

    • iwe chigili if HH and GBM were to stop at this village and handout those Bruce Lee panda shoes, you will arrest them, you have forgotten what happened in luanshya when they stop at the market, anyway the case has already become your usual NOLLE PROSCUI.

    • It’s very hard to reason with a fellow who thinks like Njimbu. You don’t know whether to start with A B C D or 1 + 1 = ? God help us coming to think of the possibility that there could be fellows like him somewhere he comes from !

    • @judy -It’s very hard to reason with a fellow who thinks like Njimbu. BUT, i notice he has more than 86 greens compared to yours with less than 5 CONCLUSION no-wonder you are not in line or touch with the majority of zambians-always on the losing side, grow a brain.

  8. Quite true that this does look like a misplaced priority as those children already seem to have shoes. They would benefit more from education and as a consequence life-altering products and/or services such as libraries and access to ICTs. As they say, education is the one great equalizer.

  9. Stolen money don’t last and have no God’s blessings. Rb and his wife did the same but were caught up by time. HH never stole any money from govt as he was not in government or he should have been in jail. ECL stole clients money when he was representing a poor Zambian in courts of law. So who is a thief? ECL

  10. Well done Tasila! It’s a virtue to give back to the community when you are more blessed especially when you actually earned the money through personal salaried or business work. I would urge you to give back on the doctrine of, ‘Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.’ Remember Vera Chiluba’s Hope Foundation, Maureen Mwanawasa’s Maureen Mwanawasa CommunIty Initiative and most recently Christine Kaseba’s Ubutala Bwabumi which all went with the lifespan of the presidencies or marriage in the case of Vera. Well done too to your mentor who used, ‘child rights activist,’ as a springboard for political career. Very clever!

    • @ disgusted I think your comment has been misunderstood by some bloggers. There are a lot of wise words in there. Please next time try writing in simpler terms. Us Zambians have a very poor reading culture. We can’t read between the lines to understand the gist of the argument and at times we don’t even finish reading the comments before ticking.

  11. Ked if you have nothing to contribute put up or shut up get your facts correct, still ignorant of privatization, who benefited, your HH. please stop displaying your ignorance here.

  12. Thank you young lady for your effort and time spent in finding sponsors and the distribution. What some do not know is that there is a cost to the hole exercise.

  13. And who is responsible for the poverty those kids are in? Well its Edgar Chagwa Lungu who happens to be Tasilas dad.
Tasila should ask first her dad why the parents of those kids cant afford to buy shoes?

  14. Everyone needs shoes she is doing good to people, you who condemn her what have done zero ask those who got them if they are happy or not ! They will answer you it is like that blindman whose sight was restored by Jesus on the sabbath , pharisees were offended but man seeing was happy for his problem was solved .
The same is true withe recipients of those shoes their story has changed to the better.

    • Yeah, just like Lazarus, raised only to die again.

Why do you people find bible feeble to be credible? There are better real life stories from our time. There’s no evidence that Jesus existed just like the earth was never flat.

      Wake up banthu nakuda! Galamukani!

  15. It’s a good gesture BUT the source of ka money is an issue. Alekula na mall and 3 churches which were displaced after buying their land for the mall. #GODPUNISHTHEDEVIL

  16. Let us learn to give credit where it is due. Weldone little angel. God is using you. Just ignore the negative comments coming from a well known tribal party. Jealous will just kill them.

    • Tribal party, you are casting aspersions on a tribe barely 10 days after you fasted and prayed! What a bunch of hypocrite.

You said you went to pray but your eyes wereroving to see if there were people clad on red?

      Wolves in sheep clothing!

  17. Thanks a lot guys for appreciating my above comment.
LOOK,HH AND HIS FOLLOWERS MUST BE IGNORED!!THEIR LEADER IS VERY GREEDY WHO CANT SHARE WITH ANYBODY WHATEVER HE STOLE VIA PRIVATIZATION!!
many poor Zambians feel part of Edgar Lungu through the small things he and his family do for the poor.UPND CADRES CAN CALL TASILA AND ECL NAMES,BUT THIS IS HOW ELECTIONS ARE WON IN AFRICA!!!the Edgar Lungu family is winning the hearts of the poor people it helps week in,week out and in 2021 these people they are helping today wont forget PF!!!
SO WHEN HH LOSE FOR A RECORD 6TH TIME IN 2021,HE MUST NOT SAY ELECTIONS WERE RIGGED BECAUSE THESE SAME PEOPLE WHOM ECL HELPS OFTENLY ARE THE ONES WHO WILL VOTE FOR PF IN LARGE NUMBERS AND MAKE ECL WIN ONCE MORE!!

  18. Some of the money daddy-Jonathan Stole is being given back to the poor.
Sorry “Robin Hood” not good enough to erase the wrongs

  19. Ba Fi colour bonse mwaliba very bitter. A human will always be difficult to impress on this earth. She did a good thing and learn to appreciate despite different political affiliations. Contaminated I d i o t s.

  20. I would like to challenge the critics(@Jay Jay, @Ned etc) if they have made any positive contribution to their communities, later on their own families. if you have nothing to say just keep quiet because all you do is spread your jealous, anger and animosity.

  21. @brother did you ever hear of Tasila before the father became president? Has she just realised now that there are children who need shoes? People are not opposed to charity what is being questioned is her motive and source of funds. In any case do you expect every person who contributes to a community or family to take Lusaka Times cameras to show to the nation what they have done? Be fair and logical in your criticisms.
