A 15 year- old girl of David Village in Maguya Chiefdom of Chipata District of Eastern Province, has been defiled and impregnated by her 16 year old cousin.
The said girl is currently two months pregnant, according to East Police Chief, Robertson Mweemba.
The father to the juvenile, Robert Jere, reported the matter to Chipata Central Police Station after discovering that the girl had been defiled and impregnated.
Initially, the girl refused to tell her parents when they questioned her upon noticing some physiological changes in her body.
“The juvenile’s sleeping habits compelled the parents to interrogate her. Although at first she refused, ran away and spent a night in the bush,” Mr Mweemba disclosed in statement to the media.
He indicated that a police medical report form was issued to the child after the father reported the matter to One Stop Centre.
Mr Mweemba added that the docket has been opened for the case although no arrests have been made so far.
