Political Parties Complete Presidential Pre-Processing in North Western

Seventeen out of twenty-six political parties have successfully pre-processed their political party aspiring presidential supporters in North-Western Province.

Provincial Local Government Officer Adrian Zulu said the five-day exercise, which started on Monday 11th May and ended on 15th May 2026, has been peaceful, with political parties adhering to the guidelines of producing 100 supporters per Province.

Mr Zulu explained that the exercise is an important part of the electoral process.

He added that the 100 supporters from the 10 districts will translate to 1,000 supporters for aspiring presidents at the national level.

Meanwhile, Mr Zulu has disclosed that the Electoral Commission of Zambia has made changes to the nomination dates.

“Nomination dates will take place next week as follows for National Assembly we have 20th Chairpersons and Mayors on 21st and for Ward Councillors nominations will take place in two days thus on 21st and 22nd of May respectively,” he noted.

Mr Zulu has appealed to political parties to take note of the new dates.

He has further assured stakeholders that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) was ready to conduct nominations, stating that ECZ officers have undergone training to handle electoral processes.

United Party for National Development (UPND) North-Western Province Chairperson Adam Sapezo said the party has successfully pre-processed 100 supporters in the province.

Mr Sapezo has commended the ECZ and the Zambia Police for conducting a peaceful exercise.

“This process has been fast and well-coordinated and we are happy as a political party,” he said.

Wesley Chibuye who represented independent presidential candidate Rev. Given Katuta, said the process was fair adding that the supporters were free during the exercise and were attended to in an efficient and professional manner.
