Senior Chief Ishindi and his subjects have pledged full support to Acting President Rupiah Banda in the forth coming October 30th presidential by – elections.
Chief Ishindi said Mr Banda has shown good leadership qualities and has held the country in unity during the sickness and subsequent death of late President Dr Levy Mwanawasa
He has since urged the Acting President to continue with development projects in his chiefdom which includes mineral explorations for the benefit of the local people in his chiefdom.
The chief further urged Mr. Banda to resolve the wrangle that has rocked his chiefdom.
Senior Chief Ishindi was speaking Friday when Mr. Banda and his delegation paid a courtesy call at his palace.
The Acting President who is in the district to attend the Likumbi Lya Mize traditional ceremony was accompanied by the Ministers of Agriculture Sarah Sayifwanda, Information and Broadcasting Mike Mulongoti and Energy Kenneth Konga.
Others are North Western Province Minister Kenneth Chipungu, Local Government and Housing Minister Benny Tetamashimba and senior government officials in the district.
Mr. Banda said he was humbled by the overwhelming support he has received from the traditional leaders in Zambia.
He said he was happy that chiefs through the house of chiefs have been part and parcel of the governance of the country.
He said chiefs have contributed to maintaining peace and security in the country through its wise guidance to its subjects.
The Acting President however stated that he will make consultations and find ways of addressing the wrangle in Chief Ishindi’s chiefdom.
Meanwhile acting President Rupiah Banda says traditional cultural ceremonies helps to cement relationships between countries.
Mr Banda said this when he paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Ndungu at his Palace at Nize in Zambezi District where he was Guest of Honour at this year’s Likumbi Lyamizye Ceremony.
Mr Banda said that he was happy to be associated with Likumbi Lya Mizye Ceremony where he met Royal Highnesses from Congo and Angola.
The Acting President said he was impressed to note that the Luvale Royal Establishment has invited Chief Mpezeni and Senior Chief Nzamane and other Chiefs from Eastern Province.
He thanked all Chiefs for the suopport they give to Politicians.
And Senior Chief Ndungu, thanked the Acting President for accepting his invitation to officiate at this year’s Likumbi Lyamizye Ceremony held at Nize.
