Suspected PF cadres in court

Share

A 53-year-old Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) Official yesterday narrated in the Nchelenge Magistrate’s Court how some suspected Patriotic Front (PF) cadres showered unprintables at her together with President Rupiah Banda on 1st November this year.

Diana Mulenga, a resident of Shinjoni Village in Nchelenge, told the court presided over by Magistrate Fred Musaka that on the material day a group of youths chanting PF slogans also threatened to cut off her legs if the then MMD Presidential candidate, Rupiah Banda, won the elections.

This is in a case where nine suspected PF cadres have been charged with conduct likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to Section 178 Sub Section (F) Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that, while acting together and without lawful authority, on 1st November this year, the nine accused men did act in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace at Kashikishi old market.

Ms Mulenga, who is MMD Nchelenge Constituency Chairperson said the youths, who started chanting “No Sata no peace” also stoned her restaurant and the warehouse from where she sales soft drinks.

She, however, could only identified one Albert Kopa, who she said was the leader of the group, adding that she heard him saying Kashikishi residents were timid by fearing the police instead of throwing stones.

“I even heard him say that if the MMD was to win, his group was going to start a war, torch houses and go to the street to start throwing stones,” Ms Mulenga said.

But during cross examinations by the accused, Ms Mulenga conceded that she was unable to identify the rest of the accused because she did not see them in the act.

Another witness, 46-year-old Denis Mukunta of house number L8 Nchelenge High School Teachers Compound, described how he alerted police around 21:00 hours on the same day after he witnessed the accused trying to set ablaze an electricity pole.

Mr Mukunta, who is the Deputy Head at Nchelenge High School, said he was going to Kashikishi to get some groceries when he heard excited screams and saw a mob of about 20 youth dismantling marketers tables which they heaped around a Zesco pole and started setting it ablaze.

He told the court that that he called police who came and apprehended some of the members of the mob and put off the blaze.

Magistrate Musaka granted eight of the accused with K200, 000 cash bail with two working sureties and ordered them to be appearing every day at 08:00 hours until the case is disposed of.

The matter has been adjourned to November 21, 2008 for continued trial.

  1. Imwe ba MMD, you are just hooligans created by FTJ and Teta. I dont know why you are troubling peaceful PF cadres. Time will come when musalu uwali pesamba will be on top…wait.

  2. The law must take its course to those who commit a crime regardless of their politcal affiliation.PF cadres must be taught a lesson that Kaunda and Kapwewpwe fought for one man one vote and who ever wins takes the day.RB is now a head of state whether you like it or not.

  3. Micheal SATA in USA.

Kid: Pulling SATAs’ Cheeks; remove your costume it’s not halloween yet!!
    SATA: ****** we!! @$@*@@@

  4. Let the chaps face the law if they commited the offences. No sacred cow and hooliganism shud remain with the people whose leadership deserves no right to rule Zambia.Let them go to jail so that their leader can flee them,i wonder.

  5. They are used to harking people with pangas with impunity like they did under the command of their great leader and supposedly savior of Zed, SATA in Chawama. They should face the law.

  6. Those are MMD chaps trying to tarnish PF. they are very silly. Even the day they had the last rally they MMD cadres throw stones at each other and later said it was the PF cadres hell no the PF were busy paddling the boat ku woodlands MMD are hooligans for sure. They are attention seekers big time. Mum at the age of 52 telling lies? muchinje bane.

  7. That MMD cadre is looking for political mileage thru’ the court or coult it be kangaroo court? Courts at the moment are for Mwadya Mweka Daddy (MMD).

  8. I was justlooking at the michaelsata .co .zm website and a had a very good chuckle at the Post articles published there:

    “Mongu welcomes Sata”
    “Satamania hits Southern Province”
“Western province on fire for PF”
“Sata is unstoppable in North Western province”
“We are stamping out MMD in Chibombo”

well the results in those areas certainly told a different story…shame on you Sata and the Post!

  9. #17 chinamba 17 we mbwa we this is not a fora for you to advance your tribal cause. ucinje zambia is for zambians tonga, bemba lozi, tumbuka and all that ****

  10. they have to cut there asses aswell.they have nothing to do,they think sata will bring the old system of ma bus yama hala.sata is finished, thats the end of him,he is f***cking history now.

  11. bembas are leaders. that is why they act this way. it is difficult to lead leaders. Banda can only lead else where where they did not even have chiefs. thanks to the white man who orgainsed the bushmen. to day mutwanga yet mwenze chabe mbuli. imwe bamapapa. we were organised with chiefs and trade of copper.

  12. I dont know whether being thieves and thugs is what you call being organised. Evryday you snatch pipos phones imwe ba makaka.

  13. These ba kaponya all what they know is just to beat pipo. They dont know how to vote. They think that they will rule this country through armsstrangle. These kaponya they tried it in 1971and Kaunda locked them in prison including Kapwepwe. They dont want to learn a lesson that trabalism is bad. They dont consider other tribes that they can rule this country. If you want you can put your Headquarter in Kasama and rule by floating in water with your boart. It is a taboo to see a boart being paddled where there is no water.Mukachimona you will all suffer from BP because you want to rule by the sword.

  14. Zambia has entered a period of dark days which will take a long time to pass. To get out of that darkness, those who assumed power by crooked means must cease to do evil and learn to do good. These are the teachings of the Masters of the Great School.

  15. Sata should be arrested as well. He incited these people and now they are regretting. We need cioivilised leaders like HH who keep quiet after losing. They can learn from the past but this serpent called Sata is a terribly bad looser. That is why he will never be president of Zambia.

  16. That is what happens in a country where kaponyas have been allowed to have so much political grip that they even fantasize that they can rule the country.

  17. #28 you will rot with your tribal obsession, go to prison and ask whether all inmates are Bembas. you will be amazed wen you discover that most of the inmates are your tribesmen. Soak your damn thick head in hot water maybe and just maybe you will begin to think like the rest of us.

  18. Though iam not supporting the accused kaponyas the “mmd police and courts” should show us fairness by punishing pipo like teta for threatening to beat easteners if they did not vote mmd.Official status – mmd is above the law period

  19. Stix na Buju, mwaba ama lote, not everyone who speaks bemba is bemba.its just a commonly used language, dont characterized evryone using it as bembaz, ba ngwele imwe

  20. It is illogical to threaten someone or riot over a recycled politician who is not even suitable of ruling a country with people in their normal state of mind. All politicians who were in the first, second and third republic eg. VJ, Mukombwe, SATA etc should not be voted back into government, if the country is to develop. We don’t want to continue moving in a straight line, we want new ideas.

  21. PF cadres and supporters should find unclaimed land anywhere in the world and migrate there. They can then accept the election results and have peace in a country where no one else has a different opinion and run amork threatening to cut people’s legs off and burning pylons as they see fit. We shall call that country PF-Topia. Everything will go according to what they envisage based on the number of people that will attend their mamoth railies.
PS. The Post are also free to go.

  22. Dear Kalampa, this medium isn’t for insulting each other. If you belong to any political party, do not use this medium to insult. insults are for typical political cadres and especially those linked to the ‘third term debate’ of 2001. And that’s where you belong. keep insulting the bureacrat as she continues giving you the truth.

  23. Its high time PF cadres conceded defeat. The issues is in the hands of courts. Let all those who are grieved take their issues to courts in fact courts are underutilised when it comes to such matters. Meanwhile lets all respect Law without law there will be anarchy. If you were promised something after the elections plse try 2011 again at the moment we need peace in the country. we have children to raise in a peaceful environment.

  24. #36, a study was done in 2006 about the originality of most inmates in prisons among others things and it was establishd that most inmates are Bembas. you can even do it yourself and i can assure you that you will find similar results. bembas are thieves period. they are lazy and crooked.

  25. Catholic fathers, please do not try to fuel violence.on the copperbelt it was Father Bwalya, today’s post it is Father Mpundu.
The Government is in place,Sata and the catholic fathers should not try to overlook the constitution.Let the judiciary play their part. Why do you always want to do short cuts?
Sata,if he won the elections, next elections could have been in 2013.The catholic fathers did not comment…….

  26. Marketeers were innocent in the sence they have to carry normal bussiness during post elections period. If at all you want avenge it is wrong targeting go state house that where you will find the person who took the day. No Sata no peace is retrogressive thinking and am praying that I will never share neighbourhood with such fellows lest they contaminate my children. That slogan does not befit the current generations but you would have fitted in well in the era of the Romans when they were cruxifying Jesus. The purpose of voting is to let the majority rule and minority be led.In this case MMD will rule us hence we must just accept it. Sorry thats is democracy.

  27. #26 Umubemba is not led, Unfortunately for you there has never been a Bemba president. This means Bembas have been led since independence. Bembas will only lead in the Tentemba churches since most of the fake pastors are Bembas.

If you are not prepared to be led do not expect to lead others.

  28. #26,Please,let us embrace one Zambia, one nation.I have had been commenting on this one.
What do you mean by saying a Bemba can not be lead.Anyway!you got it from your chief Executive(sata). If Bembas are not lead, what has made sata to lose elctions in 2001,2006 and 2008,beaten clean.
Sata’s C.V of losing elections, puts him of to PLOT ONE.

  29. When i got my job, i had item(2,),nowdays advertisements from our papers is qualifications and experience.
Now our Chief Executive(SATA)is a Grade 4.Does he qualify for the job at STATE HOUSE?
If i were a Human Resource Manager at State House,i can not even call Sata for interviews. He does not qualify?period

    (1)qualifications and experience
    (2)qualifications but no experience
    (3)experience but no qualifications
    (4)No experience and no qualifications

  30. There is just too much fighting between the Government the Catholic Church and PF. To my fellow Catholics let us draw a line between religion and politics otherwise people may think the Roman Catholic is the church for PF when some of us are neutral and are not in support of some priests too much involvement in politics. Let the mother church guide us on the role of priests and politics are they supposed to be neutral or they should have sides if they should have sides how will they shephered the flock composed christians of different political parties? The other thing is that there is very little if not nothing between the Catholic church and UPND but PF why ?

  31. #53,I totally agree with you. Now,you are a Human Resource Manager tasked to employ,Refer to #52 and tell me the item you will use to measure the best candidate for the job(1-4)
    Iam been rational

  32. #43 I think Luangwa National Park has enough space to accommodate them. What do you think? They can easily rub shoulders with cobras, lions, cheetas etc.Or should we try the moon?

  33. #52
Chiluba minced up the economy, because he wanted to use the little experience he had in the industry without applying qualifications.
Fellow Zambians qualifications and experience are two ingridients for these Top jobs.
Let us not, experiement with leadership.I have been radical, because i understand these issues well academically and couled with experience.

  34. LOL!#45 and 57.
They can accuse the animals in Luangwa of rigging during elections as they may choose to stand against them and the animals may win.

  35. Be careful with the catholic Father,Rwanda is the best country we can learn from.Catholic Fathers were linked to Genocide in Rwanda. The reason is very simple, catholic fathers have not heart for the people, because they do not have children or women. In a war situation it is mostly women and children who suffer most.Women and children say no these catholic fathers behaviour.

  36. Can some one please tell me why PF cadres and officials are so noisy. They are just sooooo irritating, they belive zambia only belongs to them. These uneducated grade fours. Do us a favour and cage them.
