Post Offices reduce mail transportation period

Share

The Southern African Postal Operators Association (SAPOA) will next month reduce time taken to transport mails to a maximum of five days as a way of improving business in the region.

SAPOA Chairman Giandev Moteea says post offices in the region have decided to start using electronic transactions as a way of improving their operations.

Mr. Moteea disclosed this during a board meeting for Chief Executive Officers and Postmasters in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. He encouraged Post Offices in the region to use reliable transport, courier and financial services and encourage governments and the corporate bodies to utilize their services in their communication and transportation.

And speaking earlier, Zambia Postal Services (ZAMPOST) Board Chairman James Banda applauded government for introducing the Postal Services Act that will facilitate reforms in the postal sector.

Mr. Banda disclosed that ZAMPOST has embarked on linking and computerizing all Post Offices in the country to one satellite main server to make operations efficient and transparent.

  1. Ya thats the thing Lets them do that ,we must be moving with technology coz i see no reason why africa should be behind in almost everything.

  2. Our mailing system is very poor, someone sent me a crucial document by it was swallowed by the postal staff, damn good thieves. The sent assumed that Zambians do not tamper with mails like in her European country.

  3. Veteran corrupted my words. now here is what I said. Our mailing system is very poor, someone sent me a crucial document but it was swallowed by the postal staff, damn good thieves. The sender assumed that Zambians do not tamper with mails like in her European country.

  4. ZAMPOST service is baaaadddd, i was once sent a christmas card in november, frm europe, and only got it in April-minus the £20 that was put between the card. And we are still waiting for documents tht were sent a few years ago to turn up-tho we have even moved now…

  5. It’s time post offices put their houses in order. It takes so long for letters to be delivered. That is the reason many of us have stopped writing letters. Who wants to send a letter and wait forever for a response when you can send an sms or e-mail?

  6. Good news. Let them now work towards shorted delivery periods like one or 2 days. It’s possible. Continuous improvement is the word.
