Weekend Scorecard: Faz Saga Enters Part 3

Share

File:Police officers cordon the main entrance to Football House, which houses the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The battle for control of Faz will face its biggest test when part three of this ensuing saga taking centre stage on Wednesday.

The petitioners won part one on Friday with their emergency council meeting that was attended by most of the legitimate members of the Faz council who boldly elected a new parallel executive committee led by Andrew Kamanga.

On Saturday, embattled Kalusha Bwalya and his team dug-in in the trenches of Kabwe with a litany of questionable councilors.

Some delegates sighted at the Kabwe ECM right under the eye of an unsuspecting Fifa official included known rowdy supporters and non-executive affiliate members who have even been rebuked by their respective clubs and associations in the national press.

Despite that, Kalusha won part two after Fifa backed his administration as the sole legal entity they will recognize to run the game in Zambia.

And on Wednesday, the two groups take the battle to the field of play with the petitioner’s bloc declaring that the Super Division will resume on December 1 with the rescheduled week 19 game between Zanaco and Green Buffaloes.

However, Kalusha Bwalya at a press briefing today said as far as he was concerned the league was over and he will deal with the “rogue” administration within the powers vested in him for also using the Faz logos and masterheads illegally since Friday.

Should Buffaloes and Zanaco turn up to play on Wednesday at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka, it will be a significant turning point so far in the battle for power of the Zambian football.

The petitioners have the backing of the Referees Association of Zambia Welly Chikuka who is a member is part of the Kamanga executive who were not represented by any high profile member of the men in black in Kabwe on Saturday.

Kamanga needs success of the field of play on Wednesday to strengthen his credibility or the November revolution will find itself on the ropes.

  1. The Galu/ FAZ saga will never end for as long and FIFA dont cleanup their act. The Galu joke was exposed when the Zambian football team turned up in london with more officials than players, for a friendly match against the mighty Ghana. The full extent of the Kalu joke and the title of the most encompentence football administration in Zed history was achieved when anyone with two legs was drafted into the national team; That was FaZ at its worst.

  2. Pa Zed, drama never ends. Money issues can make wise people act like fools. For the love of soccer, sort out this scrap now!!!:)

  3. Where are the lawyers to step up and interprete the constitution..Can FIFAZ explain to us what Faz Constitution state in reference to resignations of 4 FAZ officials.Twakana as an independent nation to succumb to irresponsible pressure from FIFAZ. I mean Its not enough for FIFAZ to tell us to wait for 2012.(Kwati baiche) We have a crisis at faz now with two executive committes in place and all FIFAZ tells the nation and the petitioners is to wait. Can the FIFAZ explain to us why we have decided to do away with the constitution now. Great example of fair play! I think FIFAZ has no good intentions for member nations and we need to stand up as Zambia and fight this thugs. No one is above the law as such and we expect FIFAZ to respect the laws governing football administration in member states

  4. FIFA is encouraging lawlessness in Zambia. FIFA is the most criminal organization on this planet involved all kind of vices. Let us show Blatter and the old dog Galu that we are ready for them.

  5. Just take Simata Simata and Great Galu out of Zed Football administration, all this noise will be normal. Trying replace Kalu with Simata Simata’s tea party is just like replacing RB with Sata. The mad cow cycle continues.

  6. This situation is bigger than Kamanga, simataa and company. Sepp blatter ‘s re election bid for next year means he needs people like Kalusha bwalya on his side. so FIFA will do anything to take care of friendly forces such as Kalu’s controlled FAZ than the unknown Kamanga FAZ. its a pity the kamnga led committe has exposed themselves and the have lost. this signals their end. In every coup you have to succeed or if you fail you face firing squad. Kalu will make sure he puts measure in place to ensure non of the Kamanga crew makes it in 2012.

  7. #2 Chama chakomboka cant you by anymeans if possible put your comments cross with out insults? Anyway, If Simata simata are true servants of all football in zambia trying to liberating football from alleged illigal FAZ led by Kalu, the best thing they could have done was to go and attend kalu EM held in kabwe rather than boycotting, so they could underscore their problems with FAZ lead by Kalu face to face, and thats man.

  8. Kalu will have the last laugh and the government (including state owned media) and the post who have turned against this most celebrated son of Zambia will be embarassed. This Kalu we are trying to crusify is the same person who made this country smile using his unmatched talent when pipo like simata where building their pot berries. Can you imagine that guy CHIPUNGU omiting KALU from his speach when giving examples of sports heroes in zambia but managed to remember ESTA PHIRI and GALAGATA ZULU!!!!!!!! Surely can you compare such characters with KALU? Shame on you CHIPUNGU….. Just because of AKALIJO and PHD (Pull him down) Asked such a question even a person in COMA will start with KALU and dies before mentioning ESTA PHIRI. Wen our friends are busy promotin heroes zambia is KILING HERs

  9. @12 you are misguided in your comparison of Esther and Kalusha. Iam a lover of zed football and Iam not trying to under score Kalusha. If you look at the one who has brought honours to Zambia I can rate them as follows.
    1 SAMUEL MATETE
    2 ESTHER PHIRI
    3 AMON SIMUTOWE
    4 LOTTIE MWALE
I have omitted Kalusha because he never brought any honours apart from the cosafa cup and there fore he is the group of well perfomers who never succeeded. People like Madalitso Mutiya, Carol Mokola, Felix Bwalya and a whole lot of others who where near success.

  10. Kalu has turned rogue, Simata Simata has never been good for Zambian football period. Let us give praise for Esther for she has delivered in the most dire of situations. One of the seven most recorgnised female boxers in the world. Has what? Seven gold legitimate championship belts. Hopefully the president awards her with a red passport for her iron fist diplomacy is the greatest sports achievement Zambia has produced todate.

  11. @ Chanda above me, I do not agree with Chipungu’s statement putting galagata above kalu, but Esther Phiri is above Kalu. She is a world champion whether you and I like it. She has had television specials on both CNN and BBC. Holds seven world championship belts and is one of the big seven female boxers known world wide. Kalu I like cause he won African player of the year 1988, maybe even the east and central Africa title one or two cosafas; apart from that Esther’s resume exceeds any Zambian athlete todate.

  12. @ BUSAKILE MAN With your super hero name I surely hope you support Kalampa ( Nkana baby ). Great choice but by list is as follows.

    1) ESTHER PHIRI
    2) SAMUEL MATETE / AMON SIMUTOWE
    3) BAMUDALA BA LOTIE MWALE / SATWART SINGH

  13. Ma Cockroach imwe how dare you take away from a man ata! Easther Phiri hahahaha

Kalusha Bwalya (born August 16, 1963 in Mufulira), known as simply Kalusha, is a Zambian footballer and coach. He is Zambia’s most capped player, all-time top goalscorer, and is regarded as the greatest Zambian player to play the game. He was named African Footballer of the Year in 1988 by the magazine France Football, and was nominated for the 1996 FIFA World Player of the Year where he was voted the 12th-best player in the world.

  14. BUSAKILE MAN you are my brother, Nkana all the way Nikuchilata. Born and raised in Lusaka but made it to support Nkana when visiting, even on holidays to kitwe. Then comes Roan iwina echungulo, city ya moto magnificent Kabwe warriors, malaiti rangers, viataform united, chibuku warriors, zamsure, profound……… History of great days in Zambian football history before the Internet.

  15. Some of the bloggers I find on African sites are so hopelessly senile! Busakile Man @13 your reasoning power is zilch yet you want to pose as an intellectually sound man. You say you have omitted Kalusha because he never brought any honours apart from the cosafa cup. As nonsensical as your argument is let me remind you that you are comparing individual and team sport achievements similarly.(Flaw 1) Your second flaw is that you are selecting what to compare with what (subjectively) thus ignoring Great kalu’s numerous achievements. Among others are he is the only African footballer of the year winner in your country and in the rest of Southern Africa. He has been golden boot winner (top scorer ) at the Nations cup. If this is the quality of Zambia’s critics no wonder we are not going…

  16. All you haters weather you like it or not Kalu brought honours to this country, infact the whole southern africa. he is the first footballer to run an FA, southern african footballer to be on a FIFA panel, and he looks set to foil a govt sponsored coup attempt. isnt he great or isnt he great? tuletasha bane it does not cost anything or take away anything from you. Zambians need to appreciate this man because by virtue of him being in FIFA makes it easier for zambian soccer to be heard by blatter and crew

  17. Kalu was a gr8 player no doubt about it but he has proved to be a poor administrator and this makes his fans like me to question his leadership in FAZ. His name has been linked to so many questionable deals and he has proved to be no respecter of the constitution. It is not a surprise bcoz he has strong backing from FIFA and even the President and I doubt the President will support the Interim FAZ executive especially that Kalu and Nenani Banda are buddies. However, whatever happens it is on record that Kalu does not respect the people that ushered him into office or even buy into the correct interpretation of the FAZ constitution when 4 committee members resigned. People are debating myopically thinking its about the achievements of Kalu and not the FAZ constitution… what a shame!

  18. Posterity will judge us harshly bcoz of greed, rigidity and adamancy in the old FAZ committee bcoz I do not think Simataa is fighting a personal battle but the Councillors what football to be run rightly…

  19. Fights or contests which are supported by Fred Mmembe and the Post always end up in failure,
look at 2008 elections, Post was behind sata and he lost
Mpulungu bye election, Post was behind PF and they lost
Assault case on Mukoka in South africa by Kalusha, The post lost
FIFA backing for Kalusha is yet another failure for the Post
In today’s paper they are even failing to mention the Kalu brokered deal with MTN.
Align yourself with The Post and you will become a perpetual LOSER in what ever contest.

  20. Just becoz one may be deemed to be a hero, that doesn’t give him freedom of the state, where by he can choose to ignore Constitutions of the land. FAZ has a constitution, it doesn’t have an article which states that deemed heroes or pacesetters are allowed to ignore parts of it period – THIS IS HIS BIGGEST EVIL!!

That is not to say I don’t respect him for his personal & national exploits for Zambia. Indeed, talk of zambian football, & his name is easily recognizable by footy fans the world over. I have met people , whom upon mentioning am zambian, the first name they utter , is Kalusha Bwalya, & they follow on by asking what is he now doing??

  21. Does Best Footballer = Best Administrator? Have all the best coaches in the world been best players before?

  22. Unless we are living in the dark ages, & our courts have lost their sense of purpose, then Kalu & FIFA will prevail; My fervent prayer is that they will not lets us down on this one as they have done with plunderers!!

  23. Mathematics not exactly being my strongest bent in school, am left to wonder just how many 2/3s are possible from one population of delegates attending to different meetings! Crunch time for me will be Wednesday when the ordered midweek games are scheduled to be played. If they take off this will be legitimatising the new executive and then we would have a real crisis on our hands. So, is this new executive going to have its own Football House from where to administer football? FIFA with its continued arrogant stance may end up being embarrassed in this issue as they seem to be doing a terrible job of handling this crisis that is in Zambian football caused by their blue eyed son. Their official delegate spotting those notorious dark shades was not really reassuring. The cheers one heard..

  24. ……at their meeting was akin to that of an haphazardly put together mob of marketeers or kabovas, heckling , screaming and whistling in the back ground.

  25. It is surprising that people here are mixing things. If the Constitution says the resignation of elected members affect even those who have not been elected then it is not a good Constitution.Whatever has happened in my view should have been resolved by ECM called by the General Secretary who is the full time employee of FAZ by either endorsing or rejecting the co-opted members of the Executive . After all the petitioners say they had all the evidence to call for the dissolution of Kalusha led Executive. Why did they fear to attend? To me they do not have valid reasons for their action other than selfish gains. After all Simataa was given the mandate before and he let us down when he resigned. People, let us not take soccer backwards. Kamanga led Executive have no agenda VIVA kalu

  26. Ba LT This is a very biased story. Dont you have a press code? The story teller takes an anti-Great Kalu stance and labels participants in his meeting questionable without evidence. We also dont know whether he is reporting or analysing. You cant mix the two. If you want reporters I am available Iam a journalist

  27. The question that i v always had is that, why did ZANACO and the rest boycot games before the 2/3 was reached? can some please answer me, because i strong feel katongo mislead everyone

  28. FIFA has handed out hefty bans to soccer officials percieved to have transgressed. The Nigerian Adamu was given 3yr ban from all soccer activities. Now in Zambia, we want to deal with a trount Kalusha Bwalya a big headed chap. They are springing a defence cordon around a corrupt Galu BOY.

  29. No one can take away the fact that Galu boy was a good player and earned personal achievements in his time but he failed to inspire the nation to any notable success save for the discredited COSAFA.
In my view, Esther Phiri has achieved more than Galu in her time. She is WORLD CHAMPION imwe not ka COSAFA champion. African footballer of some year is his highest achievment and NOTE..Just AFRICAN. Look we had George Weah an african who was WORLD Footballer of the year. But just because he was African football or whatever doesnt entitle him to run down our football to the levels he has. The chap must follow the rules of FAZ and leave.

  30. Wednesday is no crunch day at all! Just another day when the impotent Kamanga team will be screwing the air. It goes without saying that ZANACO and Buffaloes will turn up for the match, they were represented on Friday. But that is where it all ends. So where are they going to add their respective points to coz the league is CLOSED and names of winners already with FIFA. Maybe ZANACO & Buffaloes have started a Christmas Cup. These Kmaanga chaps shud swallow their pride and acknowledge that they actually dont have the support they thot they had elyo nabola naipwa bane. MTN has just pumped billions into Kalu`s FAZ coz we all know its the legit one. ABASH ama coup for job seekers!!

  31. The truth is ‘coup plotters’ have failed because they lost a very good opportunity to rip KALU in the presence of FIFA on the 27 th but because they had nothing to offer they abstained. And FIFA now understands why KALU is in this crisis.Let them continue playing KOMBONI FOOTBALL with no FIFA recognition after all that is what Simaata has been doing all along. These people are thriving on rumours ,ennuendos and lies and have manage to sway the gullibles with no hard facts that is why they abstained they FIFA backed ECM- they hard to keep their gullible supporters ignorant and full of unsubstanciated lies. For how long have they been calling for KALU’s BLOOD. BACHEPA SANA BAKALUME!!!!

  32. #35 That is the question that exposed the plotters as having a hidden agenda because in all fairness that was illegal and unnecessary and it exposed the level of thinking of our football administrators in Zambia, who i am sure some are regretting their actions .But this is Zambia mostly we do not use logic and order.!!!

  33. #38 That is spot on- Did u see how Simaata and Kazabu were salivating at the prospect of a job?!!! Poverty can make one speak in tongues!!!

  34. FJAZ – Football Jokers Association of Zambia led by Andrew Kamanga first requires to be registered in Zambia then affiliated to FIFA. Upon affiliation Katongo and Simata plus two will resign since Andrew will refuse to allow them to still public funds and they call for a fake ECM to hound out Kamanga, Another fools association called FFAZ – Fools Football Association of Zambia will form with Simata and President (his ultimate challenge) and with Kazabu as SG, The Zoo will have no rules that hoping Monkeys will play soccer then.

  35. #34 I agree with you, LT times must be a carrier of people’s opinions, The bias in the report is unpalatable unless LT can openly declare support for FJAZ.

  36. Kalu was part of a team sport. How can you compare individual sport to team sport? In his personnel capacity, Kalu was voted African footballer of the year-88, the only one up to now from southern Africa. I know you have issues with him but saying, he is not a hero is utter nonsense. Who carried on after Gabon? Kalu.

  37. Empty tins usually sound the loudest!! Interesting that #40 is indeed exhibiting the trait he claims being in zambia, notice how smartly he includes himself, not using logic & order!!! He qualifies perfectly as his point of view seems to support ignoring a constitution which should guide morals & thinking in terms of how to run the sport, avoiding bringing the sport into disrepute!!!
