Nchanga Kicked Out of Caf Confed Cup

Share

Wasteful Nchanga Rangers have been booted out of the Caf Confederation Cup after a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Lupopo of DR Congo in a first round, first leg match played at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola today.

Rangers who were playing their first Caf club home match in 11 years were modest throughout but also were guilty of very poor finishing.

Kabwe Chileshe missed a sitter within the opening three minutes of the game before Lewis Macha saw his 9th minute shot come off the upright in a first half against a cagey Lupopo.

Lupopo turned the screw after the break led by their powerful winger Tamundele Illunga as the difference in technical depth began to show between the two sides.

And it was Ilunga who headed in the opener in the 56th minute courtesy of a Tady Agiti cross.

Agiti cemented the DR Congo sides win with the second goal two minutes into time added on.

This is after he stole the ball off Nchanga defender Moses Mulambi inside the area before rounding goalkeeper Rabson Muchelenganga.

Nchanga bow out 3-0 on aggregate after losing 1-0 in the first leg played in Lubumbashi a fortnight ago.

Lupopo face Sofapaka of Kenya in a fortnights time who overturned 2-0 away loss away to Ismaily of Egypt to beat the North Africans 4-0 in Nairobi today.

  1. obviously they are still very rusty after 11 years absence. sheet happens..hard luck chaps..see u next year but watch the wounded green buffalos as u start the campaign for the top 2. Zesco is next to bow out..

  2. #2 Abel. Nchanga did represent Zambia shamefully of course by a board room decision. If the league standing was decided on the field of play, we were going to be served from this embarassment. 2-0 at your own turf after ukutapilisha noku kwempa ichani.

  3. This has nothing to do with Kalu, but KCM the new owners of the mine Nchanga and indeed new sponsors of the club Nchanga. What do you expect from Indians and Chinese investers? Under the defunct Zccm which used to sponsor all mine owned football teams, they used to be given all they needed. Blame Kafupi for having privatised the mines. All former mine owned teams in Zambia are only a shell of their own to day under mmd with its poor polices.Change government or perish.

  4. League titles can not be won in the board room.these are the results. If there is a problem u sit down and talk not to fix others.good lesson to Kalu.very stubborn boy.no administration skills. The kamanga team may have been wrong but Kalu was the most wrong chap.i look 4wad to zesco going out soon. How do u start allocating points when u know very well that there is a problem becoz of u Kalu not following constitution…think mwaice Kalu.U dont just have it in administration Kalu.Administration is more than free kicks of those days at independence stadium. This is leading people mwana.Abash Kalu

  5. I want Kalu to vacate FAZ presidency, but this lose is not Kalu’s fault, mwilabepesha kalusha mwebaume mwe, Zambian teams show badly at these competitions, whether ba ZANACO, ba Bufalo or whoever, ba Zesco cabe ndiye banaesako pang’ono two seasons ago. Ba No. 5 mwakamba bwino. This has nothing to do with board room decisions. There is nothing peculiar about those decisions, teams who do not fulfill fixture for whatever reason lose points, period. Lets not look for scape-goats, rather look for sponsorships or the govt should negotiate better with the chinese about sponsorships of Hospitals and sport of all former ZCCM institutions. With ZCCM sponsorship Nkana went far, Mufulira wonderers were heroes, even brave Nchanga Rangers once represented Z well, so pali ici Kalu wakaele…

  6. i watched the game and it was sad to see nchanga lose at home. lupopo were in control of the game from the beginining and they were bouyed by their supporters who had travelled all the way from the drc. our own supporters were quiet and only started to support the team after seeing their counterparts being supported being supported by their supporters. It is a lesson to the nchanga rangers supporters and football team. let’s start to support our team from the begining of every game.

  7. # 5, kapoma kabaso don’t forget that the sponsors KCM did everything to make sure the team performed well. This included camping the team in South Africa for 15 days.

  8. STOP blaming sponsors.. No sponsorer in every game would like to see his/her side loss. Lets just say they were underdogs .. beaten 2-0 at home is shame but the Egyptian have been hammed 4-0 away in Kenya :)

  9. Stop pouncing on any st u pid chance to attack Kalu. Thats why you will never remove him. People do get fatigued with accusations. Once they are, anything you say goes in thru one ear and out the other. You stop making whatever impact you want to. Simata and Kamanga learnt this the hard way recently.

  10. Nchanga were in contention to win the 2010 league for almost the entire duration of the seazon, so the issue of boardroom dicizion doez not arize here. Brave Rangers just lost to a determined Lupopo.

  11. I personally watched the the game and Rangers could have made things easier for themselves if they had converted the two clear chances they had in the first half. Generally Lupopo were are more organized side and more aggressive than “Brave”. The weaknesses I same in Brave were that they had no midfield and their front line was toothless. All in all Lupopo deserved to win
