COPPERBELT MMD chairman Joseph Chilambwe has said former Minister of Works and Supply Mike Mulongoti is an ungrateful man and has warned that MMD youths will not allow him to continue issuing derogatory remarks against President Banda and the Government.
“What has changed now? In the last Presidential election Mr Mulongoti sang good songs about President Banda. He said all sorts of good things about Mr Banda. He said President Banda was the best man. Zambians must be wary of politicians like Mr Mulongoti who have no direction,” he said.
Mr Chilambwe was speaking during a press briefing on April 9 in Kitwe.
He said it is unfortunate that Mr Mulongoti is being confrontational but warned that if the MMD youths are provoked they are ready to react.
Mr Chilambwe said MrMulongoti does not have the capacity to discredit President Banda in this year’s elections because Zambians are happy with the way the Government is being managed under President Banda’s leadership.
He said no one was intimidated or harassed at the MMD convention and that every party member was allowed to contest positions that they wanted.
“In fact we are asking the security wings to investigate MrMulongoti to find out where he got the money he intends to use to de-campaign President Banda. We also challenge Mr Mulongoti to stand as a member of Parliament in Lufwanyama if he wants to contest this year’s elections at Parliament level because he will be defeated. The man is not popular.
Mr Mulongoti has benefited a lot from the MMD, people know him today because of his association with the MMD. He must be grateful to the MMD in particular to President Banda,” he said.
He said MMD cadres on the Copperbelt will not allow the former minister to cause unnecessary confusion and that the party is gaining ground daily in the Province.
“Mr Mulongoti was just nominated as MP. His constituency was State House. Why is he insulting President Banda? Is it because he was dropped as minister and member of Parliament? President Banda is going to win this year’s elections because he is humble and mature. He has developed the country within a short period of time and the people of Zambia like him because of his style of leadership,” he said.
Mr Chilambwe urged MMD cadres to be wary of some former senior party members who have lost direction in life.
“We know that Mr Mulongoti is frustrated but he must not provoke us. We always condemn violence, and we want this year’s elections to be very peaceful,” he said.
[Zambia Daily Mail]
Mulongoti true. This bitter pill you have put in your mouth was inverted by you. You were the champion of hatred against others e.g mpombo. Now it is your turn. All those having political positions in GRZ should know that they are not there forever.
I wonder how Mulongoti feels now that he is on the other side of the fence and his friend Teta is gone and he messed up his good oold friend Mpombo. At least while he is out of a job , they could have been practising big words. That is how politics can quickly turn,.
Mr. Mulongoti can say whatever he wants. Freedom of speech after all. Zambia is a democratic nation. Let the man be. We shall meet him in the political arena where we shall defeat him by ballot.
I love this new look LT.Keep it up!
Yeah it is nice.
Oh Yes reminds me of my fiance when he surprised me and made the bed for the first time in 2 months Thanks
Politics of unleashing the youths on a person with divergent views is wrong. So Zambian youths are stupid and naive and can only operate under remote control to harass a person once the button is pressed. If this is true, then Zambia has no future. What development is Mr Chilambwe talking about? Politics yansala pa Zed.
before u start investigating mulongoti’s source of funding 2 decampagin mmd ,u shud first investigate chanda chimba’s source of funding for decampaining pf.
Joseph Chilambwe you are a good example of why Zambia doesn’t need leaders like you. We are a democracy so Freedom of Speech is guaranteed….Ba MMD muli mbuli.
Ka chilambwe get ready to go ka mumbwe. Dont take Zambians for a ride.
depsite all the bad things mulongoti said by tying to support RB , we the people must not accept what banda has done. Firing someone because he wants to compete for a position should worry us all if we want democracy entrenched in our country.RB cannot just come and sideline what they people of zambia wanted in 1991-democracy and this all all levels .if people are not democratically elected in all their positions , there loyalty will be to the “influencing power ” and not the people.kaunda did this and we all know what happened.lets defend democracy irrespective of who is involved .
Thanks ba LT this new look page. Happy that I’m now have an option after the demise of the the Post Newspaper. I now only buy it so that my workers at the farm can use in the toilet
At Mulongoti to decampaign RB and Emi Emi Di. What crap? Good new look LT. It appears that your April 1 fools’ day joke was not a joke after all.
While What Chilambwe says about Ngoti is true violence is wrong. Syphillitic Chilambwe’s item is finished like a piece of chalk from grinding four wives. We are warning you now, Tarihr Ssquare is around the corner.
Cadres must restrain themselves and just watch the space. They have the option of becoming cheerleaders over this leper called Mulongoti. The chap is in a political cul-de-sac and too small to pitch as a poison chalice at national level. Its all delusional to think he could the indispensable shaker and mover when has always failed to gain even constituency level popularity to be accepted for parliamentary nomination in his village of Lufwanyama. As patriots, we just wish him good health and happiness in his new errands of vanity.
Politics is a dirty game Mr Mulongoti. Politics: “Poli” a latin word meaning many and “tics” meaning “bloodsucking creatures”
MULONGOTI IS A ZAMBIAN JUST LIKE CHILAMBWE AND OTHERS SO LET MULONGOTI SPEAK HIS MIND OUT HE NEEDS TO HEAL FROM RB’S SUCKING AS FOR CHILAMBWE PLEASE SLOW DOWN YOU ARE NOT BOMA, WHICH GROUND ARE YOU GAINING? INFACT YOU ARE LOSING MORE EACH DAY..
LT ever creative and ahead of time. Forward with the nation for the people. LT leads others follow.
Someone else people would listen, not Mr.Mike Mulongoti. I wish he looked for something else to do. May be he should try to establish a law firm and make a living from there, if he hasn’t got one already.
Mulongoti’s Political Obfuscation is laughable
The political sledge hummer will soon decimate him into irredemable irrelevancy.
Chilambwe ulichipuba sana if i may ask you what has RB done that you can boast about as for me RB is the worst president the world has ever produced. mark my words this time its total change in zambia RB ZWA and YOUR POMPWE
LT Good innovation, though very similar to the PF Website including colour and fonts, are you related?
democracry is about freedom,so tell this thug called chilambwe boot licker, that the only chance mulongoti has to criticize mmd z now coz whilst u r in mmd,u cant criticize coz wateva is said n done by the top leadership its owaz right.mmd grow up!the country does nt belong to RB alone, its for us zambians!u chilambwe in da name of mmd u are busy collecting money from companies for personel gain!just wait ur tym will come!
Am not included in the number of Zambians happy with the way things are managed by RB, and Mr. Chilambwe you are not my spokes person.
Leave Mulongoti alone, let him say what is in his minds. RB has mistreated him and he has all rights to de-campaign RB. Only a blind can not see that Mulongoti has been unfairly treated. Mulongoti started campaigning for the position of vice president and that was a problem for RB and his disciples. RB and Kunda are dictators, murderers, power hungry, corrupt and unreliable chaps. Politics is not about treating people as if they are your under pants, it is about respecting others. He favoured red lips Kunda who could not even win a position for himself at the convention. Leave Mulongoti alone and those threats are useless. Something has changed that is why Mulongoti is in opposition and those who want to question why he has changed are politically blind
Chilambwe you have a blind mind. What developement are you talking about? Is it because there are a lot of “KEEP JAPAN CLEAN USED VEHICLES” on the copperbelt? We want real development.RB is useless and does not know what development means.Ulitebela sana.VIVA PF
Well, even his charlatan of a cousin Mpombo tried to decampaign MMD in his constituency in a local bye election and failed miserably. I wonder then which calibre of people Mulongoti will sway away from RB and MMD. This is just a case of overrating oneself just like all f00ls do.
Iwe Joseph Chilambwe – What happened to freedon of speech IN OUR COUNTRY?! All citizens are allowed to speak as they wish and to change alliances when they like.
It’s people like Chilambwe that will drive our beloved country into turmoil!!!
Never, Never never never never say Zambians are happy the way country is being governed but say you and your wife Dotas, sons are happy. Iediot
Mulongoti thought he was clever only a few weeks ago, now he’s been caught in the same traps he set for the then perceived MMD enermies. If RB never sacked him, he’d be full of praise of the MMD, the finger that fed him.
Soon we shall have a government which shall uphold the rule of law. Be fair with yourselves and remember no position is permanent. who thought Mulongoti will leave government one day?
This is a chap who threw away Mpombo from the GRZ house within a few weeks of his dismissal, brutalised Magande for challenging his then master RB. The same Mike threatened to close the post for criticising RB. All that Mulongoti cares about is his stomach and not the welfare of Zambians. Now that RB no longer feeds him, he’s become a bad man. Such parasites should never be given another chance in govt.
Terrible Name. Grow up and chose a better Name. Silly, stop inhaling diesel, It killed my cousin Thanks
If this chap wasn’t fired, he’d have described the convention as the most democratic ever!! Why didn’t he condemn the provincial elections as being undemocratic until he got fired? This is a good lesson to the other non thinking greedy bootlickers like Shikaz, Dora etc. No one remains in power forever. One day they’ll be on the side of the coin.
Are Zambians happy about the way they are governed? In today’s Post, it has been confirmed that the refusal of the govt to bring in meaningful tax regime in the mines is because the presidency and senior govt ministers are very close to the mines. What does this mean Chilambwe or whatever? It means these guys are benefiting from this status quo because they receiving latent income for their pockets at the expense of you poor Chilambwe.
Good innovation LT. Regarding Mulongoti, he is not worth wasting time on.
Remember, it is not the Post who came up with these findings, it is the research consultant who was hired by the same govt. He called a spade a spade. Chilambwe and Senior Citizen read the Post. Its free online.
The Post my foot! Find some sensible news source please. There is just gutter journalism at the post.
Ba mike balemipoka ka blackberry kenu lol!!! if mmd retains power this year mike will surely shrink like mbita, watch the space. naunfwa boys girls!!!!
Bravo to LT for projecring balanced views on its website. It is more informative to read articles on LT compaired to unprintable fake stories, lies and insults in The Post. To “Hell” with The Post that has lost tenets of objective journalism. Readers now merely take a glance at this tabloid to find out new lies, slanders and distortions of facts. As for Mulongoto, his greatest contraint is that he has never had a constituency of his own to launch any political ambitions. The man has resorted to hallucinations! At times it is better to lead a quiet life for the sake of the family, particularly the future of his innocent children.
LT, Zambian watch dog might have better news and diversity but your page graphics and display leave them in the dust.
Mike Mungolongoti as I know him is a boy in an old man’s structure. Ministrial positions should not be taken for granted. Let him go and stand as MP in Lambaland if he thinks he is popular. He is just a half baked LAWYER who cant even stand in a local court. SHUT, SHUT, SHUTUP.
LT for life ba’kamba !
I wish to invite UNZA Professors, Doctors and other Lecturers to be pro-active in aspiring for presidency than letting Zambia into hands of people with low education. We need a president with an agenda like the late LEVY. Former Governors and Namboard managers should go back to the land.
Mulongoti should follow his yapping friend Teta. These two used to irritate me !
I like the new look lusaka times i hope even some peoples comments can be upgraded heheheh
wait and see from sources after election if mmd wins rb is planing to appoint Dora as the first female vice president to bad for my brother Kunda redlips. will be tomorrow talking like mulongoti.
too bad
IFWE NI PABWATO WHERE THERE IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
VIVA SATA AND PF COME 2011.
CIVIL SERVANTS AND URBAN AREAS ARE FOR BOAT.
PABWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COME 2011
BEWARE OF A SMALL TRIBAL SOUTHERN PARTY WHICH JUST SPLIT VOTES
I had a rough night. So tired
The weather is horrible here in scotland as well. My weekend has been spoiled :(( I think Mr mulongoti is bitter, He made a strategic error, It has me thinking in challenging RB, ofcourse its not rocket science the trend is there as Magande found out. No need to talk about the ‘undemocratic’ MMD clearly more pertulant than ever. The point is what do you do about it. I cant vote for RB I cant vote for Sata. I cant vote for HH. So i wont vote. These elections are a formality the challenge is in 2016. If you think RB will not win, you need your head examining
Thanks
Chilambwe if you are happy with the system it’s you and the people who feed form your pots. Please learn to respect other people’s views its change that i need in my case
RB 2011.
Turn around.
Viva all the way.
LT,
thumbs up! Your new look website is simply world class. Keep it up!
Mr Mulongoti – a taste of your own medicine.
LT, the new look iz nice, keep it up.
# 9 The Post remainz the best publication to have graced Zambia and will remain so for a very long time to come. Yes the newspaper may not be perfect( who iz anyway?), but it iz certainly no match against a lot of mediocrity we are expozed to around.
CONGRATS BA LT. IT SHOWS THAT YOU HAVE PEOPLE WHO DID ADOBE PHOTOSHOP AND ADOBE PAGEMAKER. KEEP IT UP.
Those of you who claim to be based in the dispora should undrestand how democracy functions in developed democracies. Zambian politics lags by far even to what is going on in countries like Kenya and South Africa. If the cheap politics of intimidating anyone with a divergent view from that of the president or ruling party was the order of the day in South Africa Jacob Zuma wouldn’t be President today. We need to grow as a country in terms of democracy. Mulongoti, Edward Mumbi, Chanda Chimba, Mpombo, Chizyuka, Panji, Shakafuswa, Nawakwi, Kapijimpanga, Dr. Chongwe etc all have a democratic right enshrined in the Zambian Constitution to speak freely. Intimidation and threats of violence do not have a place in a democarcy. Leave Mulongoti to enjoy his freedom of speech and association.
Correction: In first sentence the word is supposed to be ‘diaspora’ and not ‘dispora’. Accept my apologies.
Well go back to school
There is no permanent enemies in politics. Despite past mistakes, Mulongoti must be embracd by PF. Trouble with our PF is, they seem too enclosed and docile-I mean what efforts have they done to attract political heavy weights to join the party? Persuadg Chitala on board & let hm contest Mbala would be the key to wining the ever elusive Mbala/Mpu. seats. Give Militu VP position under PF/ADD alliance, and Westerners would vote in masses for this alliance. PF must wake up and go an extra mile to embrace every1 if they are to come out victorius!
Ndate Sicaba ubata niti ye cwang’i hape. Bala. Ipalele. Mwendi u MMD cadre, ake ulubulelele.
What does that mean In ENglish then? Illetracy at its best?
Thanks Mushota , you have talked sense in a long time since. Brave the weather we need you dear Sister.
Your analysis of a president is 100% correct. You are bright girl
Thanks, I have always thought, I speak sense and I am the voice of reason. I know I am good, I am not sure off, just merely stating the obvious. Stay well x
Mulongoti’s comments are nothing but erroneous polemics, the kind that lack substance. If Mulongoti wants he can go ahead to join PF but Sata is a politician who will always be remembered for his repression when he was in government and lack of respect for democracy. In a stark display of bias, the Post editors are trying hard to launder and absolve Mr Sata of his extremism. To promote the likes of Mulongoti & Mpombo the Post have adopted slippery tactics like shameless censorship of vital context, and the blatant pursuit of a political agenda that constitute techniques of modern day propaganda. Surely at this stage it’s prudent to ask Post what happened to the support they gave HH when he was in the Pact barely 4 weeks ago. This clearly shows the paper’s appetite for distasteful lies.
Debate with Hon. Mulongoti, not mare threats bordering on infringement of his democratic right
. To me RB is comfortable with the supports from all of us.
Let Mulongoti speak out.He has a right to freedom of expression and association as enshrined in MMD bogus constitution.Chilemba should be arrested for exhibiting ignorance of the waste kind.Who is he to stop someone from expressing himself.Much as I don’t like Mulongoti ,because of his past utterance, especially where he was supporting the fake acquital of Kafupi, but on freedom of expression he is in the right direction.Chilemba should just shut his beak and concentrate on Movement of Mad Dogs demise. He is even cheating himself that MMD is gaining ground in Copperbelt. These are the same people who have left presidents to go with faeces in public instead of cleaning them with words of advice.Shame on you Chilemba!!!
Your spelling mistakes have distorted the message, shame
waste kind? Poor grammar, no punctuation marks, overall, very incoherent and absurd
It does not matter whether I am an MMD cadre or not. The truth is I have an opinion about our political affairs and I will defend them based on my on research and analysis of events in the country. To do so i watch ZNBC and Muvi tv (when i can.) i read Daily Mail, Times of Zambia, the Post and LT. I will be honest, it is a shame what has happened to the Post. It is a pity for the scribes who work there now. My opinion is that RB is doing and has done a good job given the period he has been at the helm, the chaos we were in when he took over and the resources available. sata will never be better than RB either as a person or as a leader. I will not discuss HH as I feel his year is probably 2016.
Mr. Mulongoti has contributed to such an ethical behavior that gets displayed in our country. Truth is, we are far away from true democracy and worse of it all to have people like Mr. Mulongoti, who start talking bad of the government after being fired.
If you meant good for Zambia, you would have stood to your grounds during your time in office. You are not a Genuine Man.
It would appear some bloggers would be very happy if everyone was to stop critisizing RB or the MMD as we head towards elections. Why is it that anyone who tries to comment on RB or MMD is attacked at a personal level? No human being is 100% consistent therefore no one should be judged on their past as long as they expalin why they have changed their position. Our democracy will never grow if we continue exhibiting these high levels of intolerance to opposing views. It is amazing that the intolerance is even towards fellow bloggers on this website, lets give each other the right to express our opinions freely without being threatened or insulted. Viva freedom of expression. Viva Sata. Viva Mulongoti. Viva Panji. Viva Shikapwasha. Viva Mpombo. Viva Mmembe. Viva Mangani. Viva HH. Viva VJ.
Whats the way forward, Mulongoti? So waht did you tell your callers, sir? Sto moaning and tell the people what the so called way forward is.
“Those who conquered by riding the back of a Tiger end up inside themselves”, so the saying goes. And Mulongoti rod this Tiger of “bitterness and intolerance” like a champ. Now it has swallowed him too. Next it will be Dollar Siliya, Shikapwasha, and his highness himself, “Ala Bi”. That’s the nature of the beast these people have created—-intolerance, bitterness, shallowness, ‘myopism’, undemocratic tendencies, and self-delusion—-what a mix!!
That said, anyone who advocates for curtailing another Zambian citizen’s right to express their views, for or against the govt, should be considered the enemy of democracy. And should be sidelined accordingly. RB is NOT A KING, neither is Zambia some ancient KINGDOM where criticizing the Head of State is considered a capital…
It seems RB’s campaign arsenal is getting richer and richer. Now it will include tapes of Mulongoti’s praises of RB in the run up to the last elections! This should really do RB alot of good given that Mulongoti’s vocal organs never tire.
Mulongoti is bragadocious, no wonder his imbriglio behaviour now. It appears his head is suffering from political meningites, says Mpombo
Good afternoon, Just dropped by to see if I could access the site again.
Great new look LT! I’m loving it.
As for the lecture at hand.. I think I will leave it up to the usual protagonists to comment. Sunday afternoon is the only time that I`m able to spend some quality time with friends & family.
On
“He said it is unfortunate that Mr Mulongoti is being confrontational but warned that if the MMD youths are provoked they are ready to react.
Mr Chilambwe said MrMulongoti does not have the capacity to discredit President Banda in this year’s elections because Zambians are happy with the way the Government is being managed under President Banda’s leadership”
I am disappointed at the MMD copperbelt province cadre who is trying to use the youths to threaten violence on former MMD member Mulongoti.
I hope President RB Banda will warn this Chilambwe to behave because Zambia does not need characters that earn their living on being violent.
It will be nice to see the Zambia Police visiting this Chilambwe so that he can explain how the youths he is talking about are being…
Zambian politics. Chilambwe has no morals, to start with married to four women two of which are sisters ( siblings). Chilambwe belongs to a cult – sweet heart of Nyimba. These are the guys busy singing songs and pretending as though they have something to offer. we know them
Zambian politics. Chilambwe has no morals, to start with married to four women two of which are sisters ( siblings). Chilambwe belongs to a cult – sweet heart of Nyimba. These are the guys busy singing songs and pretending as though they have something to offer. we know them
He has the right to preach his gospel.
The nation knows that his mind has become very acidic.
In other words, bitter!!
The best way is, MMD must ignore him in the same way RB has ignored The Post, who has now concentrated on development programs.
Multi party politics is about allowing people to speak their minds and not silencing people with contrary views. What Chilambwe is doing is what Mulongoti used to do. The best chilambwe can do is shut up and just continue boot liking. Enjoy while u can because tomorrow will come and your future is not certain. You are going this year, start counting down the days
Great new look LT!
LT looks ok, but please change MMD COLOURS evrybody is changing, including minibuses & cabs.
I do not agree with using Youth wings of political parties to threaten people. The Zambia Youth Service that UNIP used to harass people in the 60s is gone. Mulongoti has every right to say and do whatever he wants, but do not threaten him please. He is a free citizen in a democratic country. RB does not need to play under handed methods, he has done enough to commend himself to the electorate. If Zambians reject him, he can go back to retirement and be very pleased that he did his best. The verdict on a person’s performance is not written by contemporaries but by posterity.
What does what Mulongoti is saying got to do with the Youth? Is RB a youth? Why does MMD always have to resort to violence? Chilambwe, what will the youth do to Mulongoti?
#32 Al-Arabi
It is not a secret that the Minister of Commerce is a brother of the Chief Executive of Mopani Mines. So, that is close.
Mr Mujlongoti should no that life is hard when you are not in power. His the one recently who used to imposs candidates eg in chipata he clearly said that if you re a danger to democracy its better to be eliminated and put other, but is been played by is own game the pipo he promoted like this thug.
drama and more drama unfolding! hehehehe hehe!
IT’S UNFORTUNATE AND SHAMEFUL FOR A HIGH RANKING OFFICIAL OF THE RULING PARTY TO ADVOCATE FOR VIOLENCE.IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL POLITICAL TOLERANCE?
kwena pa Zed!
maybe you guys haven’t seen the kind of cars HERB’s sons are buying for their chicks….it’s a dynasty in the making
Mr Chilambwe said no one was intimidated or harassed at the MMD convention and that every party member was allowed to contest positions that they wanted. Ba Chilambwe muli cibwa
Chilambwe should have watched Jonas Shakafuswa’s interview on Mobi TV Sunday evening. The gentleman was candid on issues regarding MMD and its leadership. Why harass Mulongoti when he’s free from the shackles of MMD.He has the right to say want he wants.
Ha nice one ba LT your web page looks good. Now this MMD and Mulongoti war? we are tired of it.
Mulongoti was one of the biggest supporter of RB together with late Tetamashimba Benny. S what went wrong? Did Mulongoti think RB was to step down and leave Mike to take over? What was the agreemet between the two which has suddenly gone sour?
Mike Mulongoti spill the beans. You told us RB was a great man, so what has changed in your view NOW?
Mulongoti, you reap what u sow. remember the comments you made on mpombo that He will need yo when in Jail (for cigarrate). He who laughs last laughs longer.
Just join UPND. its the only party with a vision for ZED
:) They say what you say will come back to you. Mulongoti was untouchable when he was in good books with RB. He was warned never to trust a plot one landlord, you will be disappointed at the time you need him/her most. Let us just change this grnmt at all cost. Me I don’t mind who come in so long it is not mmd ( mulya mweka daddy). Better we deal these lunatic leaders for ever and forget.
Mulongoti should just join PF, it’s a sponge for all folu-mouthed directionless frustrated failed nincompoops hoping to gain cheap political power!! How do u have a manifesto that addresses only what 1 party is not good at? What if u gain power, then what? Will u always be saying “MMD wud have done it this way”… ? Useless myopic boneheads! The manifesto mentions MMD more than it mentions PF and it belongs to PF!!! What crap!! Stand on your own limbs!!
Senior citizen, how lt be creative and ahead yet their malfunctioning computer system tells me every time i send a comment, that its duplicate comment and already sent, how?! How can a new comment be duplicate?
LT INDEED ITS INNOVATION ON YOUR PART, THE MODERATOR OF THE COMMENTS MUST BE UP ND DOWN PART, CARD CARRYING MEMBER. WHY MY COMMENTS TAKE SO LONG.
When you live in a glass house don’t through stones!! This is the price Mulongoti has paid. So all that is coming out is just sour grapes. In Zambian politics a minister is at the mercy of the president and if you differ you are gone. My best advice to him is to shut up, reflect on his political career( he has never been elected but just been nominated) and do something else
