A thirty member Egyptian business delegation has arrived in the country to explore investment opportunities.

The delegation mainly from the chemical sector, will explore investment opportunities in packaging, plastics and fertiliser industries.

Head of delegation, Hani Cassis says visit follows President Banda’s successful trip to Egypt last year.

Cassis says his delegation is looking forward to interact with the Zambian business community with a possibility of forming partnerships.

And Egyptian ambassador to Zambia Salah El Sadek says despite the revolution in his country, Egypt will fulfill its commitment to African countries including Zambia.

Mr Sadek says the business delegation is in the country because of the peace and stability that prevails in Zambia.

He was speaking at Lusaka International Airport shortly after the arrival of the business delegation.

And Zambia Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry ZACCI president Georffrey Sakulanda says the local business community is ready to forge links with the Egyptian business delegation.

Mr Sakulanda says ZACCI will hold a business forum to share ideas with the Egyptian business delegation.

  1. Much as we welcome foreign investors, government has a moral obligation to empower its local citizens. These chinese, indians, lebanes we see putting up serious investments in zambia are simply empowered by there governments they come from.We want government to been introducting good empowerment policies to benefit zambian. Its ONLY zambians who will build zambia NOT foreigners. They are here to make money ONLY

  2. Ok after all Nyama soya’s trip to promise of Egyptian investments was not just a story. Good to see some life after Mubarak

  3. This is great news and shows that Zambia is on the right path. This will mean more jobs for the people and more tax revenue for the govt to build more schools, hospitals, roads, railways, etc. This is really good news.

  4. Number 1, I strongly agree with you. The airport look like a maize field that has just been harvested. So shameful

  5. MMD Government why why why continue dealing with people who are not clean. What are those CHEMICAL experts. Do this RB knows why such AL somethings interested in Amoniam nitrate? Chemicals chemicals….. very contravercial investments.

  6. these are just immigrants what what can they bring to Zambia?i know Egyptian businessmen they are fake and mistreat Zambian workers.no single sane person can entertain money coming from a failed state lets be serious and wait for a new leadership in Egypt. These  are mercenaries coming to mess with Zambia’s Electoral process…be on the guard PF supporters ….VIVA SATA

  7. We do not need these Egyptians, we can do it on our own. We can make Zambia a better place if politicians can stop stealing.

  8. I had a chat with some serious intelligent Zambia who has fought their entire life trying to get registration for done for investment in Zambia while abroad and indeed has almost given up because of lack of leadership on the part of govt to empower its people. Can we have a level playing field where equality critilia will work for every inverstor?

  9. This was the reason why he went around the world looking for investors. For sure, in the countries that RB has gone to, he has come back with potential investors.

To mention, USA, Brazil, China, Brazil, South Africa, Libya, Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the list goes on. Let’s all work hard to enhance development and not have silly criticisms. In mean while, us Zambians have to pull our socks up nad participate profoundly in our development schema.

PROVERBS 14:23 – “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty”
PROVERBS 20:13 – “Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare.

  10. #9 the thing we lack is business advice. when there is a road block somewhere, you start thinkin of an alternative rout. i also know zambians in zed who are doing well, self employed and hardworking but the thing that eludes them is the power to save money. they spend carelessly, buying a brand of cognac worth 500 thousand kwacha, wining and dining in pamodzi and th like. money is there in zambia, i dnt think that these good hard working people should wait for Rupia Banda to go tell them to save there money.  people should not be afraid to go to there bank managers and ask for help in terms of saving and investments, LuSE is there in cairo road. lets have a forum where we can talk business not petty things that happen in politics, RB, HH, Sata will come and go but we ll stil be where we ar

  11. # 2, Please don’t mislead others here. Not all Indian, Chinese, and Lebanese businesses are government empowered. They are as private as your own privates.

  12. # 9

To quote you, “We do not need these Egyptians, we can do it on our own.” Well then, what the hell are you doing in the UK? Hypocrite.
