Government has released ten Million Kwacha for clearing water channels from Lealui to Limulunga in preparation for the Kuomboka ceremony.
The ceremony takes place this Saturday.
Mongu Harbor Master Sternly Simwaka disclosed this in an interview Wednesday morning.
Mr. Simwaka said his office has made boat surveys in three districts of the Province to make sure that all coxswains are competent and licensed.
He says his office is yet to receive a team of officers from the office in Lusaka, and marine police officers to beef up on water transport operations.
This year’s Kuomboka traditional ceremony will graced by the Vice president George Kunda.

This will be the worst Kuombika ceremony that will ever happen. People are not interested to attend it. To date you can not even see pipo wearing the red beret or siziba. Few popo are likely to turn up. This is heavy police presence and you call this traditional ceremony? Or police parade?
The BRE could have done better by cancelling it. There are fliers already calling pipo not to attend the ceremony. Are they from linyungadambo? Scary!!!!
The Post claims that RB has boycotted the ceremony. Is RB expected to grace all the Kuombokas? On second thoughts, maybe we should nominate Mr Sata to grace the ceremony this time. Would be a good opportunity to sell himsellf in Western.
I am not sure if this is such a good move by His Excellency RB to delegate to George primarily because Kunda supported police action in Mongu and sending him there is just adding insult to injury. The political advisor should be fired because he is not taking the issues happening in Western Province seriously. Great opportunity for opposition leaders like Sata and HH to cash in and show solidarity with our Lozi brothers and sisters.

State House denies RB western province story
 State House has described as misleading the story published in todays edition of The Post Newspaper stating that president Rupiah Banda, will not attend this years Kuomboka traditional Ceremony of the Lozi People because he does not want to waste his money.President Banda’s special assistant for press and public relations Dickson Jere in a statement to QFM News says it is public knowledge that President Banda on Monday announced to the nation through the media at the Lusaka City Airport that he will not attend this year’s ceremony and, instead, Vice-President George Kunda,will represent him.Â
Mr Jere says Mr Kunda requested to officiate at the ceremony because he has never attended the Kuomboka Ceremony while President Banda has attended the ceremony three times, including when the late President Levy Mwanawasa, delegated the assignment to him when he was Vice President.Â
He says President Banda agreed to allow the Vice-President officiate at this year’s ceremony, especially that his wife is from Western Province and also wanted to be part of the event.
Mr Jere says there is nothing sinister or peculiar for the President to delegate assignments to his Vice-President and indeed ministers.Â
He adds that President Banda will not be swayed by cheap politics by The Post newspaper which he says has been trying very hard to create despondency among the people of Western Province that the President does not care for them.Â
He says in the short period that President Banda has been in office, he has initiated very important and key projects in Western Province, including the construction of the Mongu-Kalabo Road, which has never been worked on since independence.Â
