State House has dismissed a media report that President Rupiah Banda will not attend this year’s Kuomboka Ceremony because he does not want to spend his money.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Dickson Jere says the report is misleading.
Mr Jere says the story in question that was carried out in Wednesday’s Post Newspaper was poorly sourced.
He has accused the paper of being bent on creating despondency in Western Province by alleging that the President has neglected them.
Mr Jere says Vice President George Kunda requested to grace at the ceremony on grounds that he has never attended the event.
He said President Banda has officiated the Kuomboka Ceremony many times including his previous tenure as the Republican Vice President.
Mr Jere says there is nothing sinister for Vice President George Kunda to grace the ceremony.
He said this is on account that there are several traditional ceremonies in the country that have either been graced by the Vice President or ministers.
Mr Jere has appealed to the media to be careful and factual in their reporting as the country anticipates the general elections.
Meanwhile Mr Jere says President Banda has initiated key projects in Western Province.
Mr Jere says the projects include the Mongu-Kalabo road which has never been worked on since independence.

yaba…..
Small minds at work!!!!!
Good milile Dickson Jere s neck is slowly but surely disappearing.
Mututwa said pamene azakumana na Rupiah sipazamela mauzu. That’s Rupiah is dead scared to go to Western Province. Even Red Lips is not welcome said the catholic priest.
Rupiah and his police were just too barbaric to Mongu residents who are now losing legs. Just imagine Vasco da Banda delegating a trip the way he loves travelling, something is seriously wrong.
LUNA KI MWAMUKOLO. PF AND PABWATOOOO COME 2011.
Understand that Mmembe runs a failed Tabloid prodigy whose preoccupation is cooking up stories, Dishing the Dirt in his bitter head from a broken home, Getting the Gossip, and shoving it on unconscious minds. This is why he is neither ethical nor progressive on his unimaginative Gossip, unjournalistic or showing ground-breaking on facts to assign a stunt piece. It’s all drivel in his editorials and front pages, which amounts to his hogwash “necrophilia” as a gay. The embattled tabloid is being sleazy increasingly incompetent even in the failed tabloid category.
Bla Bla Bla Bla, Your RB killed people in western province, what the f@#k do you think will make him go back there. The Post has sources in your well leaked government. Starting from the chiluba government, alot of these cases in court are because of the post, tell me one reporting by times of zambia that has led to a corrupt government official being investigated. So please, we all know why you MMD guys hate the Post, love it or Hate, we will always be behind the post.
Coming to your issue with your coward president not attending the Kuomboka, why didnt he use this time to reconcile with the people of western province? Are you telling me that the president will admit that his afraid of going there of the embarrassment he’ll suffer? Thats why he has people like you to defend him!
The Papper that digs deeper and Michael Chilufya Sata are really giving people sleepless nights.
Sata is likely to make some people jobless.Hence, they always dream about Sata ordering their arrests, removing their immunity, frequenting to court and buying lawyers.
No doubt, these people who are insulting The Post now will surely need it tomorrow. Mpombo,Mulongoti,Chitala,Shakas are afew examples I can give.
The Post has unearthed alot of corruption and other issues of national importance and must therefore,be appreciated.
VOTE SATA AND PF COME WHAT MAY.
RB is a F00L the reason why is scared that Sata has Luapula and Northern provinces and people will booooo him there.
On face value, the whole thing felt like a fabrication. Just another day at the POST, what do you expect?
You can see that senior citizen is bitter. How shall you guys be payin k 3 m per term for kids at nkwazi. Just get transfrs to jakaranda
Senior citizen is bitter like mpombo and now halluccinating words that only exist in his heard
The ka dirty tabloid has really fakt up senior citizen.
So the Post Newspaper is now becoming the Print version of Kachepa360. Who knew…:-?
Iwe DICK, what is the problem of your president and vice attend together? We all know that RB messed up in Western province, to an extent of commanding shooting young people. Now he is risking a sickly Kunda to face the wounded Lozis.
Just one correction:
Mr Jere says the projects include the Mongu-Kalabo road which has never been worked on since independence.
Mr. Jere does not seem to have been quoted correctly. Mongu -Kalabo road was being built afresh in 2000. It had faulty design and the road was washed away by flood. Kuwait government financed that. My friend lost elections even though he worked very hard and sourced all the funds for the project. i am talking about Hon. Simasiku, the deputy minister of finance. This is a very important development project for western province. Shortage distance, all weather road on one of the most difficult landscapes in Zambia.
Let us keep our positive focus and give credit where it is due. I salute the govt. for its foresight and focus on such an important part of…
contd..
It has so many benefits for western province. Connection to rice belt and farming blocks being developed by Namibian friends, access to impassable areas of kalabo, mineral explorations.
The post has become a useless paper. What is so special about Western province that every story has to do with Western province. Mmembe is a bitter tribalist.
But still he is not going. Iwe chamu jere dont think we are fo..o.l z not to read between lines.Yo RB hates lozis. Hw can he go for small nchwala than majestik kuomboka? the man is in big trouble in WP. HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
OH* i 4goat, what is 10m compared to what he would have spent himself there. i don’t like this tribe behavior by rb. HHHHHHHHHH cheeeeeee
Believe it or not the post might be peddling lies, but one thing is certain ie they are doing RB serious political harm, anyways its the same thing with wat daily, times znbc LT are doing to MCS. We shall see the real man cum october. I hav a feeling kuomboka will be different this spring.
The gay pervert at it again. And all the id!ots and his fellow perverts are jumping to their toes thinking Mmembe has scored and successfully decampaigned RB in WP. If you are dreaming that Western Province Will vote Sata and PF then you must surely be waken up from your terrible nightmare. PF will not even get a single MP in the province, not even in Mongu Central or Nalolo where Inonge Wina will stand. WP will never be part to a government of Gays and lesbians. We don’t even have words in our vocabulary to describe such vices. F00ls.
So The Post was right, rupia will not attend Kuomboka!
The only country whose Commander in Chief is too scared to face his own subjects, he WOULD PROBABLY NEED AN ABRAHAMS A1 tank to visit WP. Poor REDLIPS has been sacrificed to face the heat in WP, he is now effectively a chola-boy!! Well done REDLIPS!!
If RB attended Kuomboka, the same mouths would say that he travels a lot, or he should delegate some of the functions. RB has even delegated Veep to attend an AU meeting, what did they say?
Look opposition, people have already decided to escort you to a massive loss in 2011, the Post past and present has ensured that it happens. RB’s infrastructure development projects are just the icing on the cake.
The only way to disprove the Post Newspaper story is for rupiah to attend the Kuomboka Ceremony. Let us see what transpires while rupiah is there…Only then shall we will know who is telling the truth. “Not he said she said” style of management we get from rupiah and his cronies.
Ladies and gentlemen, let’ face facts, Banda is a coward. He has sacrificed the sickly rep-lipped snake at the alter of political mercenarism. It was the same with Mugabe saying Zimbabwe and Zambia are the same at political violence and Banda took it seated, so scared of confront the senile Sekuru Mugabe th beast of Zimbabwe ruins.
# 5, I’m not sure the Post is embattled and even if that were the case, I tremble to even think of a word that would be used to describe Times o Zambia, Daily Mail or indeed ZNBC. About M’Membe being gay, it amazes me the extent to which this government and its neurotic psychopaths like you, ka Ben Kangwa, would go to discredit opponents even when you have zero evidence.
#24, sorry, the movements of the President of Zambia are not subject to the whims of PF. Please remember that he is not the equivalent of Mr Sata, but THE President of ALL Zambians.
#26..No dispute about the fact that rupiah is head of state and his movements are much more carefully planned. However, as head of state, he is not supposed to be a coward creating his own NO GO AREAS in the country. He is supposed to grace such an important annual traditional event especially this being an election year.
He knows he has stepped on a land mine and it will explode soon. So lets see him move!! we are watching!!
Bo Lupia Banda, the problem is you are “Mukudia Mweka Daddy- MMD”
and Red lips is also “Mukudia Mweka Daddy- MMD” that puts him too in trouble.
But Lupia Mubi yaba pamenso kwati litako hahahaha
Pamenso kwati alilila nangu kwati chishimu
Nga baSata, bena basuma?
Mr Jere says Vice President George Kunda requested to grace at the ceremony on grounds that he has never attended the event. loooooooooool the red lipped serpent begged to go to NW, ni boza! the man was TOLD to go since he’s begging for a job.
It is good that Mr Banda has realised that attending kuomboka is wast of money, because people of WP are no longer interested in him…viva opposition parties.
Meanwhile we have heard of people wanting to reconcile how do you reconcile by avoiding the people you offended?
#5 Senior Citizen
I have respect for your right to opinion, but I find your “know it all” attitude childish, and your hatred for Mmembe and Sata unfortunate. You as a journalist, should understand that “The Post” is bigger than Mmembe and it is not right to insult him just because you disagree with him on certain issues. No two people or indeed nations agree on all things. That is expected. You live in a country where there are straight people and gays. You have never complained about them. Learn to have respect for others. Stop hating. Stop spreading propaganda. You are the people who are making H.E RB, even less popular. You are not a god, and therefore you are also limited. Look at your life before you look at others. You are not perfect, so don’t expect Mmembe to be perfect.
I’m not suggesting that Mmembe is always right. All I’m saying is that he, like you and me, have a right to make mistakes, and has his own weaknesses. In any case, Zambia is far much better with “The Post” than without it. Even those insulting the The Post, were given a voice by The Post. If people like Senior Citizen have ethics, why not start a new tabloid that is professional?
The problem is you are “Mukudia Mweka Daddy- MMD”

The Chosen One
Unless you choose to ignore the fact that ‘The Post’ newspaper has lost their focus. I am totally in agreement with Senior Citizen on this score. How do you reconcile the contradiction of their stance on Sata? The fundamental objection is their shift in stance regardless of what they previously stood for. It is neither here nor there to begin to judge their relevance based on the simple reason that they have been a platform for a diverse people but rather whether they are consistent in principle. On this score, and you must surely agree, they are not. This explains why the punch has simply disappeared from their editorials, no matter how much they write. The public psyche is alive to this deviation in principle in which politics has replaced objectivity.
to all you people who think WP is still MMD stronghold KEEP ON DREAMING. When are we electing our leaders. we dont want to talk much RIGGING PF will take Mongu district maybe the other districts where i havent been in WP. otherwise things are not good here for MMD. Personally i will vote for PF. MMD should not forget that you can cheat some people sometimes and you can cheat all the people sometimes BUT YOU CANT CHEAT ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIMES. IMPOSSIBLE. Its like licking your elbow. DONCHI KUBEBA
i meant the MMD can rig the elections but PF will still win by a landslide in WP. And to all you people who think that Lozi is a tribe please let me give a free education. Lozi is a diluted mixture of about 13 tribes, there are kwangwa, totela, subiya, makoma, etc
kill the hate speech people..
The public is well aware how caught up the Post is in some evident scandals and how they play their part, using their media platform, to defend their allies or position. It is just inevitable that the Post will defend themselves, using their media platform, where they are caught in between. But this is all too clear to the Public eye.
#4 Academic Warrior you are right:” Mututwa said pamene azakumana na Rupiah sipazamela mauzu.” You also make me laugh with this quote-thanks. Let me put it this way Rupiah is the president of Zambia and he can choose who to attend what ceremony on his behalf if you like and by the way he can also delegate. I do not see anything wrong in that. Yes we had problems in western province but I do not think this is the reason why he can delegate to red lips Kunda. Kunda should also enjoy the ceremony.
#38 Kabwe
Two wrongs never make one right. Why talk about him and his sex orientation when Mmembe has never in public declared to be gay? Do you know how much harm you cause to his family (wife) and kids? Unless “Senior Citizen” tells us that he sleeps with him, such allegations are unfounded and just “hate speech”. Why degrade him just because you disagree with him?
I still stand by my earlier opinion, Zambia is better country today with a dysfunctional “The Post” than without it. Why do people still buy The Post if it were as bad as you people want to claim? Let’s get a life and start criticizing objectively!
The moment the Post became involved in business deals with Politicians, their objectivity disappeared. In ZA, the Post accrued a huge debt which hangs heavily over their shoulders. They have gambled that their only chance of survival is when a new regime is installed after these up-coming elections. And obviously, the work out of this plan requires them, not only to be in good books with that ‘regime’ to be, but also, to do everything possible to ensure that that ‘Party’ actually succeeds in this year’s elections. Whilst all this is going on, surely, no one expects them (Post) to remain objective. It is a do or die affair for them.
The Chosen One,
I see where you are coming from. The Political contest that the Post has now directly gotten themselves involved recognizes the weapons at disposal. Now that, Mmembe has unclothed himself of all pretensions of being an objective Journalist going headlong into public politics, he naturally expects scrutiny as much as he scrutinizes his opponents. It is obviously highly hypocritical of Mmembe to complain all the mudslinging targeting his persona when he is the author and originator of this yellow gutter journalism now becoming rampart. Mmembe is personally responsible for his own attacks.
The Chosen One,
It is no longer a question about whether Mmembe is involved in politics or not, it is a question of what kind of politics is good for him. It is not helpful for the Post to continue operating as though this shift in principle has no effect on how the public perceive them to be. For instance, the section of public that are pro MMD and pro UPND have a clear opinion what to expect from the Post and their stance. Unlike before, were their readership was across party affiliation, now their main buyers are PF. Surely, this is clear enough. In short, ‘The Post’ is a propaganda newspaper for PF, which previously it was not!
politics of ethnicity.
Business wise, ‘The Post Newspaper’ entrance into Politics is a bad decision. It is unavoidable that they have lost huge market share. Why should a staunch UPND or MMD follower waste his money on what demeans what they stand for? This alone spells business loss and anyone even with a bit of sense should be able to see where all this is leading to. Professionalism has been sacrificed at the alter of political expedience. Their survival therefore depends on the financial clout of their backers not on their market share!
Flood the market with as much of it in the streets as they may wish, it is not enough to recover their lost market. The market is not a maze in which ideas reflect their saleability no, it is for them a confinement of how many PF followers are able to afford to buy what will tickle their hopes. By going openly into supporting PF, what the Post has done essentially is to limit their market share. But as I have pointed out earlier, it is out of sheer desperation that they have no option by toe a political view line for their survival. Any one can make his own conclusions. bye bye
Senior Citizen
No matter how hard you yap yapppppy yap, the POST remains the best selling newspaper in Zambia BECAUSE the rest NIBANGWELE!! I an sure you also read it
Ba Kabwe mulibabufi. The Post is just informing us the other side of the story which is never told by the Public medias. So I think there is nothing wrong with what they are doing. They believe in Change and they ve identified someone capable of bringing that change and they support him. So can someone tell me what the problem is.
Kabwe, I like your maturity in your analysis. How I hope we had just 10 of such bloggers on this site. You articulate issues with a sober mind, with trueth and facts, without insulting or vulga language. Only those who are biased can dispute this. Just look at Fwebene’s comment above and you will see exactly what i am saying. The dullness in some of these bloggers is shocking. It makes me keep away for about two days or so in the hope that when I come back i will find sensible contributions. Alas. Luckily today there was Kabwe. Please keep it up. Just to add that the Post and PF’s endeaveours in WP(and probably the whole country) are in futility.

@26 If you want evidence ask the Shushushu Group of former President Chiluba..the Guys have even pictures, go ask the former Ambassador of Germany in Chiluba’s time he will tell you more.
Don’t start something you will regret seeing my friend
Fat empty heads in the picture above speak volumes about the health of our leaders.
And RB misses a great chance to make peace with the western province,a province that he needs to win convincingly if he is to stand a chance of winning reelection.
As I always tell my friends,if Sata wins it will be not because of his brilliance, but how politically incompetant RB’s team is.Incompetant!
#27 we all know Sata isn’t the presido of Z, he is a simple man like all of us, yet he has no fear of WP, NOW, Come to the presido himself, WHAT IS HE AFRAID OF??? The people you say he is president of & thus representing them. Is this a case of “tail between legs” or “wetting one’s pants!!”
