TIZ advise Ronnie not to threaten radio staions with closure.

TIZ Zambia chapter president Reuben Lifuka

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has advised chief government spokesperson Liutenant General Ronny Shikapwasha to use his position to build instead of issuing statements that are termed to be political.

TIZ President Rueben Lifuka says general Shikapwasha, should provide guidance to the radio stations instead of taking punitive positions of threatening them with closure.

This follows Chief government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha’s statement suggesting that all radio stations playing campaign songs risk losing their licenses because the Electoral Commission of Zambia has not declared the commencement of political campaigns ahead of this year’s tripartite elections.

Mr. Lifuka says General Shikapwasha should not just provide guidance but should also consider advising his party to refrain from advertising on the same radio stations allegedly being used by the opposition.

He tells QFM that General Shikapwasha’s statement is not only disadvantaging the opposition but also putting pressure on president Rupiah Banda to announce the election date.

  1. forget about ronnie and his desperate friend rb, they have outlive their usefulness. I mean do not take them seriously
    bakopo!

  2. Lifuka needs to seriously check his weight. Was he this FAT before he joined politics? These governance related NGOs must be in serious money. How can he manage to maintain this weight? This can’t be genetic it is as a result of uncontrolled eating. Now on the issue of radio stations, I don’t this there is anything wrong with radio stations playing party campaign songs, but where a radio station is promoting anarchy as was the case in western province, its government duty to sort it out. Look at what happened in Mansa-Senama where a radio station is alleged to have incited people to burn suspected ritual killers, there I wouldn’t blame the government if they acted

  3. one day ronnie will run to the same radio stations and the post he hates so much for coverage. his big nose wont be seen by the times and daily fimofimo. i wonder how people cant learn from other peoples mistakes. look at mulongoti today.

  4. Iwe Reuben Lifuka, by issuing such a statement you are also guilty of the bias that you are accusing Ronnie of. For once only, can’t you be balanced by advising the radio stations and others to follow the law? Or have you conveniently forgotten that there is a law on campaigning?
With such bias from organizations like TIZ who are supposed to be neutral referees (actually a pipe dream in Zambia), how can anyone ever trust the PVT that you advocate?

  5. One needs to grow integrity to be in a position where his advise can be seriously looked at. TIZ has acted partisan in the past and such are not taken seriously when they speak.

  6. WE NEED TO KNOW THE ELECTION DATE SO THAT BOLA IKATUTUKE BWINO…………WHY KEEP VITAL INFORMATION TO YOURSELVES?……..FINSHI MULETINA, …..WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, YOUR OWN CLOCK IS TICKING YOU INTO THE OPPOSITION!!!!…..TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK…..ABALEYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
