Lets have Live Presidential debates – Miyanda

Share

Heritage party president Godrey Miyanda has called for live presidential debates as the country goes to the polls.

Brig. General Godfrey Miyanda says that presidents should be given a platform to sell their manifestos.

Speaking last evening on Monday Nite Live, Gen. Miyanda said that live debates will reduce political violence in the country.

He said that live debates will also allow voters to cast voter based on merit as candidates explain their plan for Zambia.

Gen. Miyanda has further castigated non-issue based politics that do not add value to the Zambian people.

Heritage party president Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda also stated that the debate whether Zambia should maintain its Christian nation status is irrelevant.

Gen. Miyanda said that the debate has come rather late stating that all the concerns raised, were earlier discussed.

He said that all the augments being brought were addressed before Zambia was declared a Christian nation by Dr. Chiluba’s government.

  1. Please people of Zambia before you comment on Miyandas excellent suggestion.help me out with this I posed this question 2 days in a row with no answer. Can a well educated PF supporter give me some 5 reasons why people should vote PF.Please do not mention MMD or RB in your reasons. In your reasons give testimony to Satas/PF achievements in the past 10 years. Please do not use emotionalism, sensationalism, slogans etc. This is a serious question directed only to those with a high IQ

    • Inonge I think your question is rather unfair, why dont you speak on behalf of whoever you are supporting in the same vein?

    • We need a good leader(Sata) who is not greedy, we have never had a good president since independence and that is why we are poor. Zambian is very rich in natural and human resources but we have only been disadvantaged by bad leadership. Zambia is supposed to be the best country in the world but we lack good leadership.

      1. we need a people driven constitution 2. we need to create jobs and wealth from our natural resources 3. we need to decentralise decision making 4.we need an independent judiciary
5.we need more money in our pockets

    • Inonge, there are no well educated PF supporters on this blog so dont expect an answer. The best people to answer that question are Fred Mmembe, Dr. Guy Scot and winter Kabimba, those are the only well educated people that may have the answers if at all they have. Even google doesnt have anything on PF other than Mr. Satas appearances in newspaper. The biography of the leader is equally non existent. I have read someone sayng; 1. we need a people driven constitution 2. we need to create jobs and wealth from our natural resources 3. we need to decentralise decision making 4.we need an independent judiciary
5.we need more money in our pockets.Thats not the answer, those are wishes and the question is how can PF make these wishes come true. what wil PF do to create Jobs etc.

    • to get what we want, that’s our wish and that’s reason we want to vote for PF. i know its beyond your comprehension Engines. I am learned than you Engines and I support PF.

    • why do want people to answer you when the General has challenged both Sata and RB for this important debate it will be more beneficial for us in the terreces to weigh them prospecting candidates…not thru this fora where a few computer prevailedged can contribute

  2. Last time General you failed to debate your village concept phenomena. Hopefully you will do it better this time around.

  3. #1 Sata’s/PF achievements in what capacity? Sata as an individual Zambian or as Opposition Party Leader? and PF as an Opposition Party? state clearly what Achievements you want us to point out! I am waiting for your clarification.

  4. #1 Sata’s/PF achievements in what capacity? Sata as an individual Zambian or as Opposition Party Leader? and PF as an Opposition Party? state clearly what Achievements you want us to point out! I am waiting for your clarification.

  5. #1 Inonge.
You will not get any intelligent response from any one in PF because none of them has a high IQ!

  6. Sorry number one. Am not here to discuss your queirres but to blog on the issues raised and posted by the times. Any way, Maiyanda raises a cardinal issue which unfortunately is not possible with the type of politicians of the day like RB, HH, SATA and the two fomer presidents. These are Independence hooligans without rationalle. only in the next genration of exposed and Leanered politicians whom we have plentiful back home but have not chance or pathway into politics as we still have more than half our leaders who are illiterates and cadres. Only until the system rebirths itself with time. I must say also that Miyanda himself being given the chance and to be president wouldnt accept a live debate with an oppostion president. Not a chance. not with this generation and calibre of minds.Thank

    • It is sad that Miyanda only wakes up when election are near. I wonder what debates he wants to have and why hasn’t he suggested this long before? He can be a good leader but he has a wrong timing all together!

  7. No. 1 Inonge. You should have asked for all the presidential aspirants what they have achieved in last 10 – 15 years and why we should vote for them. Your quetion already seems you have a prejudicial mind of undermining the PF and you are biased.

  8. #1 most achievements that PF and Zedian politicians in particular have scored is the possession of braggadocio skills. Other than that it is empty promises which, despite being empty, are also broken; near-fatal assertions of invincibility that only gets revealed by auditor general’s (often toothless) reports; unnecessary election time feats of providing entire constructions of compounds (re: MERZAF, etc.), write off of debts without consideration of consequences to the national economy; tarring of chronically neglected roads with very poor surface material that crumbles shortly after elections; and so on and so forth… As for IQ you only see it when someone defects or is fired from a party.

  9. I have no regrets to say tha Miyanda li/bo/lo fye. I will not apologise for this. Vote splitter and mmd sympathiser sleepy general. Atase, we need men of Sata’s calibre and not this mmd paid up chap who only resurfaces during elections.

    • This is what I always say in my bed room that if only I had grown up with morals even my supporters would have them. Just look at this, a small boy insulting an elderly man. I know you, you are from Matero and an MMD cadre. You are just RB boys trying to mix my past with my political carear.

    • Have respect, how can you insult an elder? Don’t forget that this man was our VP at some time. I wonder the type of family you come from.

Please learn to focus the topic than use abusive words. What is wrong with a debate?

      LT don’t encourage such bloggers.

    • Dear ‘I am PF with low IQ’, No matter how upset, deranged, high or constipated you may be, you never insult an elderly person. Don’t say things about people whilst hiding behind a keyboard. You gat no balls to say such to their. What have you achieved in your shot miserable life that gives you the authority to insult anyone? Respect elders no matter what. You’ll also be respected if you’re lucky enough to live long. Stupid wanker!

  10. #1 in our multiparty political system, PF has been fully engaged with the grassroots who are the most vulnerable and the most neglected in so far as sharing that national cake is concerned. It has been able to articulate issues that affect the greater majority of Zambian and has plans through its manifesto on how to alleviate poverty through sustainable job creation. PF has provide the much needed checks & balances to govt, causing govt to try and pay attention to the needs of our people. There is so much more that opposition PF has done to change the face of politics in Zambia in a positive way. This is jus a bit due to limited space.
Now tell us what MMD has done?

    • Man, that was a good answer from PF. Refreshing actually… no insults, just a clear answer.. I wished there were more of u.. U killed it by reference to MMD at the end but, good effort, madala

  11. Only through debates can we know how our “aspiring” leaders really are.
ZNBC will not show such debates. I suggest to Muvi TV to envite willing party leaders to come over for a debate and phone-in programm. Those leaders who are willing to discuss will show their transpirancy and win the respekt of many. Please, any privat Media, creat such platforms of discussions. Dont be afraid of shikapwasha’s threats.

  12. SATA’s achievements 1 Police Informer 2 Gay rights activists 3 Third term engineer 4 Lusaka District
Governor 5 Married to only one woman in his life 6 Chawama violence engineer 7 Economist 8 RB brought development in Chitimukulus pockets 8 Weed farmer 9 Dounch Kubeba Naleka

  13. ba general which platform when you and nawakwi used to be chola boy and manzi girl in the last elections for his HE rb. you are finished general. this year H .E does’t need a chola boy or manzi girl nowander your sister nawakwi is ever annoyed on rb as for your village concept is waiting for you in the village.

  14. # 1.Inonge, the same question about PF give it to Heritage Party, UPND and ADD. Also you sound like you are UPND (which I think you are) tell them about UPND and HH. Lets start from there with all the IQ that you have you draw them into saying something. Aftre all it is a serious question: don’t mention MMD, no insults, be logical

  15. @ 6 Chang. HH has called for such debates. Elias Chipimo has as well. These are the only two 21st century leaders we need in Zed. Not ifisushi like Humphrey Suilapwa.

  16. NO. 5 Ebena George. Please do not insult the intelligence of PF members, what high IQ yourself do you have, come in the open and identify yourself if indeed you are a highly educated person. To my knowledge people well educated and with a high IQ do not despise or laugh at the uneducated instead they work hard to better the lives of the uneducated for the improvement of the all society. What about you or your parents, what have done for mother Zambia compared to Mr Sata who has proven record of a hard worker wherever he worked despite his other weaknesses of which all humans have including you and me.

  17. as predicted all the pf chaps have failed to answer a simple question posed by no. 1. just answer bane. as for MMD presidents, FTJ brought liberalisation policy and empowered Zambians with housing making many Zambians become entreprenuers and created a middle class. Levy brought sanity to Government finances, instituted the rule of law and took the economy to another level. RB has brought politics of tolerance, engineered the best economic growth zambia has ever seen and has brought sanity and discipline to MMD.

    • You are citing achievements of people who have hold governement before. Sata has not be president before. So such comparison does not make sense. Make Sata the president and see the difference he will bring to this country.

  18. #18 Kobe. I hear people (like you have done) referring to Mr Sata as a hard worker as possibly his strongest trait, can you just elaborate on this ‘hard work’ and how specifically it’s going to change Zambia. And in the context of the presidency, what does hard work entail?

  19. # 1 you are being petty yourself, what five achievements has Rupia Banda achieved in his capacity as a head of state? Don’t mention: the one school he has belt in Sinda, The Dismissing of the Chiluba case, The banishing of the PVT system, The numerous but aimless overseas trips and promoting tribalism as well as permitting corrupt clot to bootlick

  20. A good idea but even Levy could not agree to it, what more with RB. Certainly Information Minister Loony ( sorry, Ronnie) Shikapwasha will not have any of it.It seems to be the political culture that people should be told what to do as they don’t understand issues. Is this not what Minister Mutati said ? God help us.

  21. RB has built more district hospitals than any president, he has achieved economic growth rates higher than ever before, he presided over the most peaceful and well organised national convention, he has been able to re-unite KK and FTJ, he has increased investment across the country and zambia is at peace

  22. That is a brilliant point General. Zambia truly need men like you to steer this country to greater heights.%%-

  23. ba decampaign, who is more tribal between sata and RB. the whole PF is full of bembas only and most of them street boys from CB and Kasama

  24. The only two people who I see articulating issues in a live debate is Mr. Hichilema and H.E.R.B. Mr. Sata, no chance. All you here in the live debate is “MMD this” and “MMD that” and not “my govt intends to do this”. If you see the PF manifesto (the new one), you would be really disappointed because no issues are discussed in that manifesto. All you’ll read in the PF manifesto is MMD.

Mr. Sata has failed to articulate issues in the new PF manifesto. He cant do that in a live debate. He believes intimidation is winning a debate but forgets that in a debate, you’re supposed to articulate issues and not intimidate. Mr. Sata is the worst politician in the history of Zambia. A read through the Post PF vuvuzela Newspaper archives confirms this through Mr. Sata’s past.

  25. @24…you are very dull, do you know how much debt we are in now…? for every school they build from Nkongole from China….they still at least 10m USD…..and your kids will leave to work for this debt.

  26. @24…you are very dull, do you know how much debt we are in now…? for every school they build from Nkongole from China….they steal at least 10m USD…..and your kids will leave to work for this debt.

  27. No No No No! Debates are not fair! They wiill favour Sata and Miyanda. Some people can’t talk They can only travel. Let’s have a travelling contest instead.

  28. #27the mean spirited approach in which you describe Sata is frightening. It must be appreciated that in the history of Zambian govt, the Chiluba govt had the most highly educated cabinet(correct me if wrong) but look at what had been achieved? Little if not nothing. We had prof Lumizu Shimapoda(MHSRIP) Dr.Remmy Mushota (MHSRIP)Prof. Shimba(MHSRIP) Dr.Kabunda Kayongo, Prof. Nkandu Luo, Dr. Katele Kalumba, Just to mention a few. MMD has lamentably failed to deliver.
We cannot afford another 5years of painful failures. MMD deserves to be relegated to hall of shame!

  29. @1 on what basis are you asking your reasons. PF has not been in govt before and does use govt machinery! it is like you are asking a person who doesnt have children, to say can give reasons why have failed to keep your own children? To me your question does not make sense at ALL!!!!!!!!!

  30. Yes, an Issue-based debate is a good idea. Most self-respecting Countries are doing it. This will help level the playing field and would usher in more focus on what needs to be done.

  31. #1, you have a low IQ. You cannot ask questions clearly so that someone can give you the answers you are looking for.

By the way, what do you want to do with the answers, can you not ask the questions at the PF secretariat? In this way, you will not be hearing the answers from speculators, but from the horses’ mouths, as the saying goes.

  32. Inonge we dnt waste time on blogers like you who want an oportuninity to me thts nonsense,to the general im hapy you ve raised somethng important in a long time you ve been quiet debates wil be fruitful

  33. Bloggers what is wrong with the debate? Sad that some of you have lost the Zambian Values ”To have respect for Elders” Lets be careful with what we write and Note J that insults will not build Zambia.

#10 I am PF with low IQ, Don’t discredit PF with your insults. What the general has suggested is something we should encourage as Zambians. Let all these presidential Candidates tell the Nation what they will do for Zambia if voted in to Power.

Truth is General may not be favorite for some of you? But is the right man for this Job. We need a presentable, descent, principled person.

  34. i think #1 poses a question that needs serious analysis.
I believe #1 wants some answers to make an informed decision come voting day.

  35. #1,inonge.Mr sata when minister of health achieved an unprecedented supply of medicine. He was one of the only ministers that randomly & unexpectedly visited public health centres, what this did was create a gud working culture & awareness in these places. He introduced what we see now as police uniforms and trousers for female nurses. When Governor of Lusaka,he partitioned most of these so called residential areas, his service in the chiluba regime, which was known 2b corrupt has still left him with a corruption FREE record,His a man of INTEGRITY.Having served under these governments, his wisdom is undoubted as he has established all errors by previous leaders making him vastly experienced and the best man to lead Zambia!!This is Mr Michael c. Sata

  36. N0.1 &20
The answer to question maybe will come when Sata becomes a Kateka of this Nation

Chiluba ,Lev.Kaunda Were our former Katekas of Zambia.R.B. is the current Kateka .So i can yo question if sata was aKateka Before.,then we want him back. we will see when we cross to other side.

  37. Yes General lets go on live debate before ba PF and m’membe steals all of our manifesto for UPND. These guys it was a copy and paste manifesto from UPND and m’membe was the one writing on behalf of PF. I see HH is a big factor for all the participants, that’s way they ask to join alliance with him. We want live debate and hear what SATA gonna say. VIVA HH

  38. Talking on TV is cheap. Ask the Britons; Nick Clegg and David Camron looked very smart on TV but he has U-Turned on their major promises.

  39. The idea of debate is a grand one and well meaning Zambians must support the idea. I am not even a registered voter but just by merely reading in between the lines, MMD will win this years elections. I just hope Chipimo and HH can agree to work together and bring in the works of Given Lubinda to guide the country towards regeneration. These old men are not interested in a Zambia 20 years from now because they wont be there. RBs kids are well positioned for the moment and Sata is introducing his son…cant people read in between the lines. These guys are not thinking about your kids. WAKE UP!

  40. “Gen. Miyanda said that live debates will reduce political violence in the country.” Somebody with ‘High IQ’, please help me understand how this can be!!!!!

    • A well managed and mature debate will show the nation that despite their differences, these leaders are able to sit down and tolerate each other. Not rocket science really.

    • It does not take someone with high IQ to understand the meaning. Please think for yourself and stop being lazy for once. Zambians!

  41. Good idea Mr. Miyanda. I have great respect for you because you are sober-minded man and even your wife would make a very good first lady. But in Zambia, people don’t vote because they have heard a good debate. People vote because someone comes from their tribe or is close to their tribe. They vote because someone bribes them or tarnishes the name of the opponent. They vote because they are easily cheated. There is a lot for Zambians to learn before we can call our democracy MATURE. Many people would rather listen and not question lies peddled by politicians. They will never listen to a constructive debate!

    • Articulating issues and having a good vocalbulary does not garantee effective implementation of the policies and for Miyanda, is a coward who left his Heritage party and only comes back when their are election to get money from the MMD.

  42. But kwena eeeeeee, how can someone like miyanda make it a habit ONLy to appear before elections? Why habernate for so long and only reappear when its convinient?

  43. #1 Maybe an answer to your question would be the impressive way in which PF has run the councils in Lusaka and the CB. If they can  run those councils as efficiently and successfully as they have done, maybe they should graduate up and take on the challenge of changing Zambia in 90 days. Anybody like yourself who needs an example of the kind of govt Zambia would have under PF only needs to look at the great transformations they have made in the city councils they run. What is also impressive about PF, is their modesty, because up till now they still have not produced the report on how to run councils successfully because they dont like to blow their own trumpet.

  44. #1, here are some of the achievements you are asking about
    1. he is a father to a civil engineer in the name of mulenga Sata. has your father educated any of you up to university level? if yes, accredit this also to sata as an achievement
2.if you were born after 1989, then you need to ask under whose leadership did lusaka have fly over bridges along great east road, independence avenue and los angels? i mean the flyover bridges just over the line of rail 3 of them
    3. if you were young by then, he was minister of health, he made sure clinics and hospitals became habitable. UTH nurses have this to attest go and ask them
    4. he brought had work and sanity in min of local govt
    5. you may call him a kaponya but he has managed to steer the largest political party offering an alternate…

  45. Problem with debating with a loud for nothing fo.ol like Sata is that he can drag you into a corner and hammer you with his idio.cy. He is quite good at senseless directionless debate. RB just keep working. Dont be dragged into pettiness by people masquerading as politicians

  46. need more bo Inonge? sometimes its better to give praise where its due.
can i say some of the degree holders like mbita chitala, akashambatwa lewanika failed where sata excelled. its not in the academic paper as some of us have more to our names but its the approach and humility needed to serve. dont you know that when sata was Lusaka district governor he is on record of steering the collecting of 1 billion kwacha in 1988-89 period and had workers at heart and bought lusaka district council buses which used to ferry workers. if you are really objective, can i ask you one question?
a lot of people call sata so many names including the infamous chawama panga weilding saga. why should some one who is not even in the corridors of power still walk the streets free? why not arrest him and

  47. contd from #53
lay charges on him of assault leading to heavy bodily harm? why has not even a single top MMD official sued him for such heinous acts similar to the rwanda genocide? please read between lines and offer objective and logical questions or answers.
iam not in any way a supporter of sata and wont vote in this election so that does not make a factor unless they introduced voting in the diaspora

  48. As a zedian i would implore that we learn to be tolerant and stop calling each other names or else time is ticking and tomorrow you will realize that your head is full of gray hair and you dont have anything to point to for your children or grand children.lets work hard and stash politics of poverty out of our way and rather debate on how flooding will be controlled, how clean water will reach the house all the way from the river/lake etc. lets debate on how to make copper into a finished product than shamelessly selling ore to australia instead of telling investors to put up processing plants so that the ore processing takes place in the confines of zambia and what goes out is either a finished or semi finished product. Mwaumfwa mwe bena zed. UBUTUTU BUBI, MULEKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. I am 1 person who HAD respect for Miyanda. But i want to join the pipo pointing out his “hibernation”. He only to the scene when elections are here. He is non-exsistent the rest of the time. Miyanda is now a none entity on the Zed political scene. No influence, no support. Last time pipo had to help him with money & supporters to enable him lodge his nomination. Sad! Even this bwata bwata Sata is hear making noises throught the year. Not that SATA bwatas anything, but atleast he makes some noises. So what can u debate now that you have not communicated all this time?

  50. At # 1 what have you done for Zambia in the last 5 years? Don’t answer with emotions but with facts. If you give an answer to this then we will respond to your question.

  51. No. 1 why should you start insulting People because they are PF… The MMD will have to be removed because it is infested with UNIP cadares, we rejected UNIP in 1991..

  52. ati and i quote “Please do not mention MMD or RB in your reasons. In your reasons give testimony to Satas/PF achievements in the past 10 years. Please do not use emotionalism, sensationalism, slogans etc. This is a serious question directed only to those with a high IQ”
bo Inonge, how do you gauge the Intelligent Quotient?

  53. The General also mentioned the issue of having a fixed election date…………. But this has not been quoted. He said our RB while in RSA at the Thomsom Reuters forum or such mentioned that elections will be held soon before September. So our electro system is unfair in the sense that one contest knows the date where as the other contestants do not know.

  54. Ba mudala just go and sell your manifestoes in the rural area where they need your village concept. U just want free campagns on TV.

  55. #1 Inonge, Mr Sata has never been in the driving seat of Zambia so do not try to compare him to those who have been presidents. However, allow me to outline his achievements some of which have been mentioned already.
    1. He had brought the culture of had work in the ministry of health through his random visits even in the nights when he was minister of that ministry.
    2. He has consistantly provided checks and balances on govt and has managed to speak for the voiceless on matters of national interest.
    3. His voice has regulated the bad behaviour of some investors who don’t regard workers as human beings.
4 He has built bridges and roads in Lusaka which others have mentioned above.
    5. Sata has managed to organise the largest opposition party and has insipired alot of people who have…

    • Academic warrior i agree with you indeed SATA has been speaking for us and he really worked hard as minister..but thats not to say he can lead the nation coz he cant not be trusted he is unpredictable..the best way is for him to be a minister in MIYANDA’s government lets all support the General

  56. Ba NAPAPA SANA Continue ukupapa #1 is asking about achievements nga tamumfwa ichisungu Talaleni fye. Sata is a failure and he will continue being a failure. Umuchila wambwa tawakabepo kumutwe iyo.

  57. #11 Nshi Sunda Chisunde Sunde Kano Fye Mu Muntu and 51 Zero option Thank you for answering my question intelligently and without being emotional and irrational. Its good that there are people who can reason and not follow a crowd blindly. Most PF supporters on this blog have earned themselves the title ‘Kaponya’ I just wanted to know if the PF commanded a following among the intelligentia and why.I lament though at the fact that the the most striking achievements you alluded to were made over 20years ago.I rest my case.Good day to you.

  58. Here we are again, engraved with another nonsensical Idea, people with Drivel all over the blog not talking much sense at all. This is zambia this is AFRICA so why copy what the west is doing. I know the west (inclusing me as i live here) we set examples and Africa follow. This is explicitly shown here by Gen Miyanda who is to speak mildly of the man, is quiete frankly a Yester year Man. I am sik and tired of listening to some of you who are not as educated as I am. Its difficult to read your sentences. Go back to study. I have done CIMA, ACCA, an MSC and MBA and yet I am only 27, yet I am shown contempt on here. I really I am getting fed up , and as i told my fiance last night I just dont like it at all. Thanks

    • Young lady, you really are a mystery! The one not making sense here is you, explain to us what is so “nonsensical” about a debate? Even back in school we had debates, they’re a great platform from which one can get his points across in a systematic manner of course. NOW, whats this “WE set examples and Africa follow”?? Ba Mushota, you have now ceased to be Zambian? By the way it is more difficult to read your sentences with you trying to fit in all these big words, leave that to the masters like uncle George.

    • Mushota, I have never bothered to comment on lusakatimes but yet a good reader. for now you caught my attension as you are still thinking it’s a great achievement to obtain CIMA, ACCA an MSC God know in what and MBA at 27. is that how boring you could get? is your fiancee waking up every morning to listen to such? well then he too should be getting fed up of you because I personnally at 25 has got more than you have plus a house and a few investments of my own in the very country you are getting so confortable in and denying your true identity. but i choose to work, live and hopefully will find my life partner in Zambia. now unlike you, im not just pulling a cyber stunt hoping no one could find out.. . if you dont have any comments on the topic, then just observe. in short – be like me!

  59. Gen Miyanda surprises me, he appears just when elections are in the corner. He can not even organize his Party no elections since inception what a general! As far as we Know Gen has no followers. Heritage is just on the paper.Time wasters are not needed this year please ba Miyanda.

  60. cont..from 64
Sata has vast experience in the running of govt.
Above all, his economic policies such as the reintroduction of windfall tax,the broadening of the tax base through diversification of the economy and his his desire to punish corrupt people, to mention but afew, make Michael Sata the best Presidential candidate for 2011 in my view.
That’s why I will have to travel to Zambia and give him a vote no matter what.

  61. @ inonge.
you ask a great question and all you pf apologists could you please just answer the ladies question and not assume she has an ulterior motive beyond asking an honest question. As I will try to.
all candidates for this years election will promise all manner of things, all lovely.all will make great speeches. But what should be the determining factor is can they deliver on these promises? Guy scot When asked why he had joined up with sata, this was when sata was still a joke and not a hairs breath from getting into statehouse, said that he had known many politicians in zambia but that sata is the only one that actually gets things done.so as well as studying the manifestoes we got to gauge their ability to deliver.

  62. Thank you Sir. When are we going to hold elections for our Heritage Party positions because I want to challenge you since you have done nothing to enhance the Party. I can see that you want free publicity through this debate issue, but if you are copying from Amelika, there they have only 2 or 3 candidates, but in Zambia, there would be more people on the podium than in the audience because we ALL want to be President!

  63. #71 Ali mwana wa afrika
“sata is the only one that actually gets things done.”
This has reminded me of the British High Commissioner speaking about Idi Amin as he commended him to the Americans as a potential leader after Obote.

  64. # 1

Listen my brother no one will ever give you an answer.!! They will just keep on insulting you for raising such an intelligent question. They dont have anything to say why they like Sata. But there one reason why thy like Sata and are willing to die for him- BECAUSE SATA IS BEMBA AND THEY ARE BEMBAS!!!!! PERIOD!

  65. “ba Dora Siliya kuyina… ngati bayenda so, ngati ni cement mixer.” Michael Chilufya Sata, President of PF, candidate for Zambian Republican Presidency, speaking in Kafue, explaining why people are hungry.

  66. The biggest problem in Zambian politics is not really lack of live debates. Its a problem of CAPACITY. Its a problem of finding a political party which has the capacity structurally, morally and intellectually to deliver once they are in power. While live debates are not bad idea, the problem is that they are centered around the individuals debating rather than what they represent in terms the political party that sponsors them.

  67. NO 74 is really got inferiority complex ,i assume he is a Tonga with his small party that does not know whether to form an alliance with the MMD or the people through PF.As far as i have ready all the contributions to # 1 ‘s question no one has brought the issue of tribe, people have listed all the attributes of Sata without bringing in tribe. Then you had to fall from Mars somewhere and just drop the tribal card how shameful. That’s the problem i have with our friends from that small opposition part whose name i won’t mention as it makes me sick of late, they always want to debate along tribal lines.I did all my education in that part of Zambia and like these people and still have family members from that part of Zambia but of late the tribal sentiments have been sickening ,debate issues.

  68. Public debate for aspiring presidential candidates is every good so that electorates can hear how aspirants intend to for the nation. Not hiding in subordnates every time when such an event is called for especially our cousin from the …………………!!

  69. Ba # 1 It’s so painful for you to think do not be fooled that a high IQ guarantees success. So again don’t come on this blog with some newly acquired cat skill and exhaust your third rate intelligence. Your own question is an answer too faithful to oppose. Stick to itiveness your belief is not the next man’s belief, one man’ meat is another man’ poison.

  70. Biggest loser – Sata
    Loudest talker – Sata
    Worst Tribalist – Sata
    Best/Worst liar – Sata
    Most inconsistent politician – Sata
    Most married politician – Sata
    Dullest politician – Sata
    Ugliest politician – Sata

Man, this dude has all the qualities of a politician. DONCHI KUBEBA.

  71. That last interviews carried out on presidential candidates by Ben Kangwa in 2001 which lead to a lot of people voting for Mazoka if i remember correctly the Candidate for the ruling party refused to be interviewed or even present the vision for his party to the Zambians and ended up winning the elections, after being voted into office by mostly rural dwellers. So my question is do these debates have any political relevancy ,our rural areas do not have access to the Television sets but it seems in Zambia they determine the president. The two consecutive elections have been determined by people from Kalabo , lundazi and sesheke something is seriously wrong here.

  72. #74 uli tall lay ! Stan your call. Why do you always want to relate PF to Bembas but at the same time refuse that UNPND is not a cattle-driven party. Grow up chee color !

  73. #77 what is the difference btn u and the #74…..u both demean tribes and u segregate according to regionalism. I guess that type of behaviour from both of you should be condemned. If you have a problem with your fellow zambians because they come from a different tribe from yours avoid public debate. #74 dd not mention which area he comes from, but u quickly had attack him using tribal sentiments that does not make u different from HIM. Lets debate issues. You will realise that apart from MMD are all parties have a tribal or regional inclination. and that happens all over the world. When it expands thats when it becomes national. So lets debate issues without insults or attacking other tribes….STOP TRIBALWARS HERE………

  74. #74 JUNTA, you must be mad. Dont bring in tribal politics here if you belong to a kantemba party the UPND. This is not UNDER FIVE politics. SATA has got millions of followers bembas, Tongas, Lozis, Ngonis etc Stop inciting bembas to rise against their fellow brothers and sisters the Tongas. Bembas are the majority and its risky to incite them to start practising tribalism. Grow up and learn to fear GOD.

  75. Ba shikulu ba Miyanda, good idea…but do you still want to propound on the village concerpt? We are now in the 21st Centuary. Anyway, the presidential debates in Zambia may not yield much, they are just likely to be dominated by loud mouths even if we insist that they be issue based, some of the radio programmes have given a hint on how this would go. All the same, a welcome idea.

  76. The president cannot agree to have a live debate with Sata. He knows he can’t possibly win against him. Sata has the gift of the garb and is hugely popular.

  77. @The saint. Very funny mate. Remember that scene too. Should avoid that particular phrase from now on I think.

@ junta. The characterisation of pf as a bemba party is wrong. They hold and dominate the 2 most urbanised and as such most cosmopolitan areas in the country,Copperbelt and Lusaka. Thought the bembas hail from northern province and luapula if you are not too strict about the definition of who a bemba is.g

  78. The General has no cash for campains, the only way he hopes to get to you and me is through live debates. grant him his wish.

  79. # 74
shame! grow up! I don’t need to remind you that you no longer sleep in your parent’s bedroom.you still have that dipper mentality! ou are are lazy in thinking. Coward!

  80. No.82 Political think tank???????stop polluting us with this tribal talk. just because 77 was spot on on about 74 u want to pretend like u are not tribal yourself. we knw u are upnd and tonga.i do folow your blogs. this tribal talk is being perpetrated by u guys who think tongaz are super human. what makes u think all parties apart from MMD have tribal inclination?if Lozis wrere tribal, sata would have done better in western province wen he formed a pact with sakwiba. if bembas are tribal, mmd wouldnt have seats in northern and luapula provinces. its only in southern where mmd hsa failed to penetrate because tongas are hard core tribals. hate it o love it

  81. All these parties & governments have abilities, assignments and mandates. UNIP had the ability to fight for independence. I applaud them for thier work. MMD had the ability to bring in change and they ushered in mult-party politics. They brought in privatisation and capitalism. Capitalism works well when there is good governance and high levels of education and productivity which I am sure you all know are lacking in the whole of Africa. They have done well and I applaud them for their work. This time we need a government that will bring in development. I don’t know if there is a party that has that ability, we can only know by listening to debates. We are in the 21st Century so parties need websites, they need facebook, use youtube etc to share their vision for the country. Simple!

  82. Good data from B. Gen G. Miyanda. On

Heritage party president Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda also stated that the debate whether Zambia should maintain its Christian nation status is irrelevant… said that the debate has come rather late stating that all the concerns raised, were earlier discussed… said that all the[sic:] aguments being brought were addressed before Zambia was declared a Christian nation by Dr. Chiluba’s government
I am happy that G. Miyanda has told PF and PF sympethisers to give up there confusion. For now, lets go for elections and after elections, we as Zambians can concentrate on the Constitution.

Let the presidential candidates be scrutinised on their manifestos and past behaviour so that voters can see who is able to articulate issues.

  83. VIVA SATA THIS IS WHAT WE NEED AS PF LIVE DEBATES SATA SPEAKS LIKE BARRACK OBAMA NO REFERENCE OR READING SPEECHES LIKE OTHERS WOULD DO.HE IS VERY INTELLIGENT WITH DEGREE IN POLITICAL SCIENCE,THE ONLY CURRENT POLITICAL PARTY LEADER TO ADDRESS HARVARD UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND TECHNOCRATS ON CHINESE INVESTMENT IN AFRICA WITHOUT READING A SPEECH…THIS YEAR ITS LANDSLIDE BANE…

  84. I pray that Zambia developes into a mature Democracy sooner than later. I feel so bad, when I see a band wagoon of goons line-up hoping for Govn’t jobs should so and so come into State house rather than be driven by the pure passion to serve the people. Politics of poverty is the main cause of our underdevelopement, people who don’t deserve it get top Gov’t jobs because they campained or put reasources for campains etc. The majority of us, no matter how many slowgans and support we give these guys, continue to suffer injustice and poverty.

  85. #95, THIS IS NOT SCHOOL, SOME OF US HAVE PASSED THAT STAGE. WAT ACCA, CIMA ETC. MUNUNGU. TELL KA MUSHOTA TO SEMD HER CERTIFIED QUALIFICATIONS TO [email protected] if she needs a job. MASIPA A HAO THE SAINT!!!

  86. @inonge says: what achievements can one ask for from someone outside government. last ten years sata has been an oppossion leader and has built PF from having one MP in 2001 to 42 MP’s in 2006. PF used to be a smallest of parties behind MMD, UPND, HP, ULP etc but now its number to. what achievments do you want. it RB who should tell us what he has done since 2008 or what MMD has done sicne 1991? so ba inonge you are naive and misguided frame your questions right.

  87. It is interesting to see how PF cadres are failing to answer the question from Inonge. Just to help out simplifying the question for these cadres, you can also mention personal achievements that Sata or even PF has attained for the last 10 years. Can u sell your leader please. You can for go the Lusaka land scandals and focus on achievements. Well done # Inonge for making these guys think. Hahahahahahahah. Is this the calibre we expect in government?

  88. #97 SHIMAINI, SHUT – UP!!! ZAMBIA FOR EVERYONE, EVEN FOOLS NEED A CHANCE TO RULE NOT WAKO NI WAKO ANTEDILUVIAN FOR RB.

  89. I remember in 2001 and the village concept…didnt bode too well lol but would like Live debates…of course it wont happen. ZAMBIA is a democracy where we dont even know WHEN elections are being held!

  90. #33 You forgot Sata as number 3 one of the policy makers. The problem with the MMD of Sata and Chiluba was that the two upper hand leaders Chiluba and Sata were not educated and use to chase anyone they see seems clever with challenging ideas. Sata is just like that and will never change, the day when he will become a president, there will be haterage in zambia which many have never seen, he believes everyone should have one opinion, divergent views are not accepted by Sata. People like Paul Tembo lost their lives because of the same Sata, the man died a day before spiling the beans and to date the cause of his death is not known. Penza also died in a similar circumstances, people of Zambia you have been warned several times, never vote for a Gaddafi in the making because you cry.

  91. # 74 Junta & # 98 Iwe – To be fair I have seen a few attempts to answers Inonge’s misplaced question but whether the answers are convincing enough to you is another matter. I find those suggesting that all Bembas support Sata very annoying because I, for one, dont. All this tribal mud slinging is driving a tribal wedge and the earlier we stop it the better for all.

  92. Ba General,a debate for who?You are all tin-god politicians. We do not need politicians who just talk and luck implementation. We,Zambians, are great talkers. The whole nation can be subjected to talking from sunrise to sunset.Amazingly,it takes us time to implement what we talk.A debate is a sheer waste of time and resources.A lot of debaters are great liars who have failed to steer the nation to higher height.Miyanda is neither a match to Sata nor HH.It is a waste of time talking to time-wasters like General Miyanda. He has no vision for this nation. He might be an orator but he is an empty bag that cannot stand upright.A great talker ,like Miyanda, are great liars who want to win weaker souls. It is time Miyanda stopped cheating people in the last minutes. He used to be my man but no more.

  93. If anyone of us can realise why that post called minister without Port folio was created, would understand why Sata is a dangerous person for president. All these crimes commited by those who served in the Chiluba government were masterminded by Sata. These recycled politicians will never allow anyone outside their circle to rule Zambia because they fear for their protection. They could not allow Mazoka to rule because they new that he would not protect them as he was not part of them. Mwanawasa could not fight corruption fully because the money which funded his campaign was from zamtrop account for plunderers, For Banda the people who campaigned for him were the same plunderers, and For Sata he was one of them and even the archtect of their crimes. So Zambians wake up from slumber.

  94. #102 Mutale Chikwanda, could u educate me. Where in # Inonge’s and late on in my #98 posting is there any mention of Bemba? Why do u go else where when someone is just trying to be educated on the achievements of Sata/PF. Educate me, is tribalism part of Sata/PF’s achievement? Its will be good for us to know.

  95. This guy has awoken just in time to raise funds, this being election season, wants well wishers to donate to his one man party!!! The way to go General!!!
MMD might just jump onto the bandwagon, hoping for further split of votes – General, just take their money, Donchi Kubeba!! way to go!!! Village mentality at its best, though with a really dull if not st.up.id fraudelent twist!!!
Mwandi Generali, kosapo wala shitola(bucks) kwati mabula ya le pona ku chimuti!!

  96. #105 Iwe, The Bemba bit was meant for #74 – sorry for not making it clear. I can not comment on Sata/PF’s achivements as I have aready made it clear that I am not a supporter.

  97. in zambia we have educated pipo what do the do at last the are all fr”””k corrupt so for some to say educated president its out of question SATA can be a leader us as zambian we like talking too much but do little all this bushit i will vote 4 PF brazil former president wasnt educated be he managed to be better president and the pipo of zambia we like this same thing of talking,(talk is cheap) and we so lazy we like to be given something for free which is not answer they is no way at 5:00hrs in moring some 1 is drunk with the beer so called 500k ad what has mmd done when banda came to copperbelt he says he has directed the goverment to write off all the bills of 3,336 houses now isnt that what us pipo want plz grow up citizens!!!!!

  98. If people left MMD because they were unhappy with Chiluba’s 3rd term and or LPM’s appointment, why didn’t they come back after these issues were sorted. Chiluba’s 3rd term bid died and so di LPM, no pun intended. Excepting those who were dismissed by Sata, what policy differences do they have with MMD?

  99. INONGE is right let all the Pa Fwaka supporters for once engage in a true debate of theachievements of the Cobra no insults or mention of MMD or UPND or HH or RB in their contributions what have they got to show for , since inception as achievements ?

  100. #1, what IQ are you looking for? This is politics,  you don’t need to be  an Einstein. On the Village concept of Miyanda, maybe you can tell us the big brains behind it, It sure makes no sense to me. The underlying issues between MMD and PF ( not RB and SATA), is corruption and waste of hard resources and failing to listen to the needs of the people.

  101. General Miyanda – A thoughtful suggestion required in a democratic environment that embraces vigorous debate. Unfortunately the larger percentage of the electorate in our country are immature. Not to insult anybody, but the fact is the electorate respond to the personalities of potential candidates and rely on the power of patronage. No regard for progressive policy or the foundation of ideology based politics.. Most of the people on this blog are very intelligent but somehow too emotional to think rationally about what a PF lead government would be.. Imagine the thuggery that exists in the party would transfer into the corridors of power… the likes of Willie Nsanda and that wife beating GBM would become our ministers… This would be the first democratically elected Autocracy.Shameful

  102. #1 there is only one reason……..there is no better candidate for Presidency other than him..period viva Sata viva PF

  103. Miyanda has to be the “dullest” Brigadier-General this country has ever had. The man cannot even debate, the lack of sustained intellectual substance in his arguments sometimes literally border on the lunatic edge. In Zambian courts, he is renowned for being the Chief Induna of the Frivolously Vexatious Arguments. Look at the 50%+1 proposal, Miyanda is opposing it despite the majority of Zambians wanting it back into the constitution. The general has come mad full cycle, not even Sekuru Mugabe, with all his neuro-syphilis, is that demented.

  104. #80 looks like the exact way you describe your own father….shame on you…I can bet someone says the same thing about you!!! read between the lines…..wisdom mwaiche

  105. #1 and all who think Sata has never done anything, have nothing but IQ-*****ic quotient! how do you expect Sata to achieve 5 things when he has never been in rule?Dont you think the achievements you ascribe to the past presidents was from the government coffers which is tax payers money?Sata has created a lone opposition Zed has ever hard.he made Levy start appreciating his oppposition. If Sata stops politics, we will revert to a one party state.get this in little heads you e-diots

  106. Damn good idea! It extend to all aspiring for leadership positions.
Imagine a panel of siulapwa, cosmo&rb. Vera, gbm & william banda discussing sixth national development plan & MDGs not trading insults. That is when u can see the reason zambia is not developed!

  107. Miyanda must stop takin zambians 4 *****s. Wat kind of a man is this? He hides his skin wen its thick and let sata do the talkin on behalf of the sufferin masses and then pop up 2 durin elections to split votes. People who say u a respectable,ve nothin to respect in their lives. Now, my advise to is, go and stage another coup and stop yappin, yappin

  108. Is this general still has the energy to stand as a presidential candidate? I thought he was very busy in some rural outscates preaching about the ‘Village Concept’. Please bwana general, with all the due respect, reserve your energy to go and implement your village concept in your village.

Sorry fellow bloggers, I lost respect for this gunless general the very day he went against the fight for the 50 + 1 % implementation!!!

  109. The Brazilian president had some education which he obtained through correspondence, and though not very educated he was not a noise maker like your Sata thats why he was a man of action. Sata is just a noise maker who just want to be praised where others have achieved. Not all educated and young people are lazy, some make use of their education to get somewhere in life, and such can be seen from their successes and achievements in life. HH was in UK for education, learnt skills their and made use of his education in zambia by investing in Lanches and various companies. If you cannot make use of your education, learn a leaf from those who have done it. Mikalile also has made use of his education, to open many lodges and retail shops, so if you could not make it with your edu. remain.

  110. If anyone can tell me that a 75 years old can do the same amount of work as a 35 to 60 years old, then I would vote for one of these old people as a presidential candidate. My father who is 73 cannot do the same amount of cleaning like me who is 48, let us just be realistic zambians and take responsibility for our nation. Mwanawasa already told us that presidential job is not easy as you have a lot of work to do, no wonder in the new constitution he wanted to include retirement age for presidential candidates to be 65 years.

  111.  Great advice general as always. Though it falls on deaf ears. MMD shall still be in power end of the year because of our lack of reasoning as Zambians. Miyanda always explains his agenda and gives valuable options, but alas in Zambia we always seem to choose the mundane. Remember mutati insulted all of us by saying we cannot articulate anything thus government thinks for us. Why is he still minister? Sata engineered the third term, HH joins a pact and raised Zambian hopes unnecessarily, yet we still support them; hmmmmmmmm.

  112. ba Inonge bashima.
last 10 years for what? the Last 10 years where were you and what did you do for Zambia that we can see as a mark for a yard stick? get the twig out of your eye before you get the forest out of Sata or his supporters. This is politics and politics is very dynamic.

  113. The General may have asked for what is expected in any democratic dispensation but we should not overlook the fact that several factors are at play to earn a vote. Other than the promises about what the aspiring candidate will do, which I am sure is likely to dominate the debate; even the ability to smile or share a joke is one of the unique selling points at least to earn a vote. Candidates are actually selling themselves in their everyday interruptions with society and certain traits (some silent) manifest to influence voters. One candidate prefers to be a sports fan and the other prefers to share some smokes at bus stations or markets. At the end of it all each attracts clients.

  114. #20 kini wena wapuma, RB ki musholi fela i think i would rather work with bembas they are more open and creative, no jealous as we were told that bembas are bad people not any more SATA for clean up Zambia

  115. Vote for Miyanda the Man of Integrity..and he will appoint SATA as prime minister, Elias Chipimo Information Minister, Bob sichinga commerce minister, Felix Mutati VP

  116. # 1
Ba Inonge you are very dull chap and what high IQ can you boast about. Has PF been in government for you to start asking about developmental projects Sata/PF have in the last 10 yrs?
we have had enough of these corrupt *****s always dining with corrupt chaps like kafupi.
Inonge what are you to say rb has brought sanity to this country? Can you keep your sticking mouth shut before we insult you..

  117. And General if you want respect from us can you please keep quite or go back to village. where have you been all this time?? Vote splitter, mmd paid cadre!!

  118. Miyanda iz not a General but a Brigadier General, and he should be addressed az such. Yes live political debates at all levelz and especially prezidential would be very ideal. Brig. Gen. Miyanda iz a very good orator and am sure he would fare well, though hiz ideaz of late may need Mpmbo’z bombastic wordz to comprehend.

  119. Why are we blacks so backward? Stupid presidential public debates can’t we do something different? Things that we do always seem copied from others, the West. We are also so corrupt and selfish that we do not think about future generations. I am sure you have head about the Mpombo story. Whenever a person is speaking strongly against someone they usually have a basis. There is no smoke without fire. Mpombo knows much more than he is letting out. Zambia will be the next Libya or Iraq after elections. We are fed up of this backward country, as Mushota (the famous Lusakatimes blogger) would say. Mushota enjoy the summer sun shine with you fiance and forget about these poor backward Africans. Tell them how you feel, it entertains us. Don’t forget to say ‘thanks’ each time ‘white’ girl!

  120. If the Zambian political scene was a circus on the same lines as “The Rise and Fall of General Idi Amin”, I would bestow the role of “Malyamungo” on Mr Corporal Godfrey Kenneth Miyandering Miyanda.

  121. The recent collapse of the new constitution in parliament should be blamed on PF MPs and their leader Micheal Sata. Any person in the diaspora(even illegals)should not support a party that denied them a chance to have dual nationality. Zambians in living abroad are now in excess of 500,000. Sata hates to see these people and their children in the diaspora having two passports and for that he will never rule Zambia. Soon as MMD wins the elections, the constitution must be brought back for a new vote. Only illegal immigrants living on visitor’s visas are supporting Sata because they have nothing to lose. Yes, General we need a a presidential debate but with strong moderators to curb the nonsense from illiterates like Sata.

  122. @Chipata disco.
please man, spare us all the disinformation. The pf are not against dual nationality. Apart from the 50+1 clause and the presidential degree clause I dont remember them expliciltly stating their opinion on anything in the constitution. They chose as well as all the traditional church bodies not to be past of the process because they couldnt agree with mwanawasa on the mode of adoption.it was a stand on principle. If you got a bone to chew take it up with the upnd mps who got heavy allowances as ncc delegates but sabotaged it in the end,God bless them all.

  123. # 136. CHIPATA DISCO. Sata is illitrate to you. But he has greater following than the educated ones you can imagine. PF has nothing to do with the failed bill. UPND supported the NCC, but at the last minute voted against it. I can’t blame UPND or their MPs for that. That has no bearing on Sata’s illitracy. And you don’t bring back the same bill when you come back in power. Spice it, overhaul it, include what the people want, then as a lawer and VP you wont be seen to be illiterate. Who is educated here?

  124. @ Analysis, don’t blanket your opinion about black people for multitudes are doing well and corrupt they are not. List the corrupt then speak or hold silent discord.

  125. #24 Banda has been President for how many years now. Please can he build all those district hospitals in this short time, where did he get the money from? Watch the space! By the way Chipata is now shining with development, alone.

  126. You IDI OTS ! What has IQ got to do with politics? Politics is not molecular biology or stem cell science. Any ***** can do politics including Rupiah Banda, a chap who cannot walk and fart at the same time!!! Get a life!!

  127. I was recommended this web site through my cousin. I am not positive whether or not this publish is written through him as nobody else realize such distinctive approximately my trouble. You’re amazing! Thanks!

  128. This is indeed an eye opener for me. I never realized came across these facts till now. Thank you so a lot for sharing these amazing insights with us and I hope that you will continue to do so.
