Al Ahly Eject Zesco United

Share

Zesco United were on Sunday evening ejected from the Caf Champions League by Al Ahly of Egypt in Cairo.

The Ndola club lost 1-0 to the record six time African club champions to bow out on the same aggregate score line.

First half substitute and Egyptian international midfielder Mohamed Barakat, who missed the first leg that ended 0-0 in Ndola on April 23 due to injury, scored the games’ lone goal.

Barakat scored the winner in the 67th minute to relegate Zesco to the Caf Confederation Cup third round to be played at the end of May.

Al Ahly advance to the Champions League group stage in July.

Meanwhile, Zesco defender Billy Mwanza was substituted after fainting just after the start of the second half in the midst of Al Ahly fans torching a section of the stands as play was stopped for five minutes.

  1. That was a dangerious match Zesco playing against insurgents? They are still torching things, thank God Billy Mwanza survived those thugs, they thought Zambia has brought back Mubarack or what? Zambians should just stop going to Egypt, even Mwanawasa faited there..

  2. Let us face it, el ahly was the better team by far, they should have won 3-0 at least. fair is fair.

  3. it was expected simukonda must take full responsibility for the loss.he should have buried the game in the first encounter.what can you expect when you feature tired legs of clifford chipalo?

  4. # 1 & 3 That’s no way to talk, the good game of futbo transcendz beyond politiks, race and religious fanatizm. Zesco just lost to a better side after putting up a spirited fight.

the guys played well but i think confusion in the 55th minute led to that goal! There was serious confusion – fans where throwing cans on the pitch the REF shud have stoped that game!Billy Mwanza was hit by som object from the fans – he didnt faint !!!!Those guys|(al hala) are not that gud – we are beta than them!
CAF Should do something about the barbarick actions of those eygtian FANS!

  7. Arabs employee very dirty tactics on their home grounds.I cant wait for the day we’ll beat the shit out of these chaps on their backyard.

  8. Bravo Zesco!Arabs are not real sportsmen why employ dirt tactics just to win a game.CAF should ban those fans.

  9. Zesco played their best and lost to the better side. It had nothing to do with sportsmanship, Don’t hang Zesco’s loss on other people.
