The Patriotic Front government says it will continue to strengthen Zambia’s diplomatic relations.
Newly appointed Foreign Affairs Minister Chishimba Kambwili says Zambia has for a long time enjoyed bilateral relations with several countries and that the PF government’s task will be to strengthen the relations through exploring new areas of corporation
Mr. Kambwili was speaking to ZNBC News soon after being named as the new Foreign Affairs Minister by President Michael Sata at State House on Thursday.
He says that his main task will be to consolidate Zambia’s diplomatic relations so that the country’s voice is heard in international bodies.
Mr. Kambwili who is PF Roan Member of Parliament further says that the Foreign Affairs Minister he shall ensure that Zambia abides by the entire international protocols which it has signed.

This is a joke! Most foreign affairs ministers in the world are highly educated and exposed. Will this guy cope? How will he be interracting at international events? What language will this guy be using? Even my 2 year old daught speaks better than him. The guy does not even know what a sentence is.

You are really hating!!! Hon. Chishimba Kambwili has been member of parliament for Roan for the last five years and last time I checked our parliament uses English in trasacting its business. He has nto been a quite MP for that and has represenetd miners, especially well. I am not privy to his educationa credentials but that is where you UPND chaps miss it. Ministries are run by technocrats and the Minister is merely the figurehead to provide policy guidance. He will be adequately advised by diplomats at Foreign Affairs. You so called young President has not even chaired a meeting at Government Departmnt level and would be too lost!!! Accept that PF is in Govrnment and you messed up the PACT!!!

This is potentially the worst minister of finance since independence. PLEASE prove us wrong for Zambia’s sake. Why not put him in sport or something. He does seem like the best person to represent zambia on the international front. I don’t know much about his deputy so won’t comment. We also need a better PS for this ministry. The kambwili’s, Nsanda’s, GBM’s, Panji’s and Luo’s can be compensated for the efforts in securing PF a victory in less sensitive arrears put them on some commission or something and appoint high quality in ministries like Finance, MFA, defence etc

It is a strange world we live in. On one cold winter night in December last year…I shared a table with honourable Kambwili at a Zambian function that was hosted at the Zambian High Commission in London. I had a good and construcive chat with him…little did I know that I was having a ‘chat’ with Zambia’s future Foreign affairs minister. May God grant him the Grace to fulfill his new obligations in an honourable & worthy manner befitting his new role.
In the King Cobra Sata govt the major qualification needed for appointment to a major post is to be from one of the tribes whose mother tongue is Bemba. Honestly this is the last time I want to hear from these Northern/Luapula axis hypocrites about the ‘tribalism’ of non Bemba speaking politicians! Chi wamila galu! Sata is a TRIBALIST! I am suprised at how shallow the thinking of some of the contributors on this log is. We have every right as Zambian to critisize our government but we have to be constructive and objective. Kambwili is not the best person for the Foreign Affairs minister but among the MPs the president has he is one of his best. I know Kambwili and he is very articulate. Kabinga Pande is no better than Kambwili an more over Kambwili is even better off as he has a company in the UK runs companies in Zambia. Having a PHD is not directly proportional to good performance. Look at George Kunda. He is a doctor but very dull. Look at Akashambatwa he formed a party but it never went anywhere. Sata has humble education but he has formed a government!

Kabinga Pande was a director or Head, public relations at Bank of Zambia. He resigned after he was adopted to contest on an MMD ticket for a parliamentary seat in North Western province, and that was in the Mwanawasa administration. I think he was learned enough for Mwanawasa to consider him.
