MMD Muchinga aspirant area member of parliament Howard Kunda has successfully filed in his nomination for the vacant seat created by the death of his father, George Kunda. Mr Kunda was accompanied by his Mother Irene during his filling in of his nominations at kanona basic school.
Speaking at the nomination center, Mr Kunda stated that scooping the parliament seat was unquestionable as his father initiated a lot of developmental projects in the area. Mr Kunda said he decided to contest for the parliamentary seat so that he continues with the development projects his father left.
He disclosed that the MMD has continued to enjoy massive support in the constituency as a sign that he will scoop the seat.
And Five aspiring candidates for the Livingstone parliamentary seat have successfully filed in their nominations for the bye-elections slatted for July 05.
The five include Patriotic Front (PF)’s Josephs Akafumba, UPND’s Howard Sikwela and three independent candidates that include Stephen Zulu, Zondhwayo Soko and Joseph Mwanza.
Speaking after successfully filing in his nomination, PF candidate Josephs Akafumba thanked his supporters for their support and also thanked PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba for travelling all the way from Lusaka to witness him file in his nominations.
And PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba urged the people of Livingstone to vote for the Patriotic Front saying they had for the past twenty been voting for either the United Liberal Party (ULP) or the MMD.
He said there was need for the party members to campaign from door to door to ensure that the PF emerges victorious from the July 5th bye-elections.
And UPND aspiring candidate Howard Sikwela said the chances for him to win the election were high as the people were behind the UPND.
He accused the PF of flouting the tenets of democracy saying consultations were not done and observed adding that the UPND was there to check on what government was doing.
Mr Sikwela who left the UPND to start as an independent candidate after the UPND did not adopt him denied being power hungry adding that the party had decided to pick on him this time because that was the will of the people on the ground.
And UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the Police to act professionally adding that there beating of the PF cadres in Lusaka was unacceptable.
”They brutalised peaceful protesters. The police must act professionally. What they did in Lusaka is unacceptable. Our people must remain focussed and my message is that they should not be intimidated,” he said.
An independent candidate Zondhwayo Soko said there was need for the people of Livingstone to vote for a youth like him this time around because the people of Livingstone had in the last twenty years been voting for old people.
He said if voted into office, he would ensure that he works on the roads and markets that were currently substandard and bring them to a level where they would be modern.
He said the sanitation system in Livingstone was also bad and pledged to work on improving the system if voted in power.
The Livingstone Parliamentary seat fell vacant after the election of former Southern Province Minister Lukolo Katombora were nullified.

IMWE BANTU, DOES CHIPIMO’S NAREP EXIST??????????????????????
Chipimo is a political light weight. He’s not a politician. He will do well to join MMD.
He is a theoretical or academic politician. No MPs, just speaking in a vacuum and cleaning streets of Lusaka. No real grip on issues on the ground. Spends most of his time in England.
ba wiso, na we mwana? bushe ni inheritance?Â
some headman Kunda story.
@1 seka chipimo’s NAREP only exists in chipomo’s head. On the ground it is not known. We told you that Chipimo is a novice and soon his one man political party will be moved to the history of politcal archives.NAREP is a waste of time and is going no where because Chipimo is not only a coward but working with PF.The only diffirence betwen chipimo’s party and Cosmo’s party is that one is run by a coward laywer while the other one is run by a non laywer otherwise both are doomed for failure.
I hope both Howard Kunda and Howard Sikwela win
I wish Howard Kunda all the best. We don’t want the whole country to be infiltrated by these PF cretins who have water in their heads instead of brains. PF are contaminating the country. Suddenly Lusaka has gone back to being the dirtiest city in Eastern and Southern Africa in just 6 months. Where did these PF guys come from? They don’t do anything apart from talking. All the programs going on at the moment are those left by MMD. And yet they claim to be in power. The Kwacha is in its weakest trading against major currencies and the last time it was this weak was in 2002. Kick these PF baboons out of Muchinga constituency.
:d elo lwanya lwati na pa just leave that chap alone MMD mwalipwa
The young man is asking for a sympathy vote

IN ZAMBIA NATIONAL SERVICE OFFICERS SELECTION ONLY DAUGHTERS AND SONS WERE SELECTED,EVEN ZAMBIA ARMY AND NOW MMD IS APPOINTING THE SON OF THE LATE KUNDA.YOU SEE IN ZAMBIA IF YOUR FORE FATHERS WERE SOLDIERS YOU WILL LIKELY END UP BEING A SOLDIER.SO THIS ENTAILS THAT IF YOU COME FROM A POOR FAMILY NOMATTER HOW EDUCATED YOU ARE YOU CAN’T SURPASS THIER SONS AND DAUGHTERS MUDALA.NI BAPAMWAMBA MUDALA…………..!!!!!!!
no other families to contest in this constituence
Is the late George Kunda’s constituency a chiefdom? The son inheriting from the father.
All the best Howard K
An MP is there to make laws and represent views of his/her constituents on law matters. They are there to bring development. Development is the work of the local councils and central governments.
GK, Nice to see your face again, we miss you son of our soil. We wish you son all the best!!
Have you finished writing or talking?
Wish you well. Nothing wrong with sons aspiring to walk in father’s footsteps. Examples abound: KK’s children, George Bush’s, Chipimo, etc
This is the problem with politics of underdevelopment. What makes the son of Kunda think that he is a better candidate? Becuase he ate from the same table as the former MP? Yes people have the right to stand for poitions in a democracy, but why this thing of wanting to continue from the father as though that is family business. Politics is a big business venture after all.
Mwaiche your father misled MMD and UPND MPS to chew more than 200 billion taxpayer’s money over some FAKE constitutional document. Do not remind us of your dad’s misdeeds, its not an empire!! and for those who were involved in chewing 200 billion, we have not forgotten!!!!
Is that the son in the picture? Ndipo bapalana zoooona monga tuchilemba.
What are you doing in RSA
pf violence related party..we don’t want nepotism to spread to SP..
dead gone no more Mr red lips………!!!!!!!!!!!
You will not meet in paradise?
He grew up privileged because of his father. But if his heart is to serve, i
wish him all the best.
Are Zambians still so foolish that they will vote into office a FOOL who does NOT LIVE in their CONSTITUENCY and has NO idea what their NEEDS are!?
Nothing wrong with the word F.O.O.L
all the best guys…
Continuing the legacy of a good parent is a noble thing… My hope is the Young Kunda will be more polished and a better suited politician for this generation. Gods Blessings in your endevours  young Kunda..
