Government has sent Home Affairs Minister, Edgar Lungu to Ghana to represent Zambia at the burial of that country’s late President John Atta Mills.

Professor Atta Mills will be buried tomorrow.

Chief Government Spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni said Mr. Lungu has gone to represent President Michael Sata and the Zambian government at the burial.

Mr. Sakeni, who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, said Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has also gone to represent the party at the funeral.

He told ZANIS in an interview today that government enjoys a warm relationship with the West African country hence the decision to send a senior minister at the burial of the late President.

Mr. Sakeni has since conveyed a message of condolence to the government and people over the death of their former President.

President Michael Sata said when he signed the book of condolences that Zambia was saddened over the death of Professor Atta Mills.

Professor Atta Mills, who died on July 24 in Accra, Ghana at the age of 68, will be put to rest tomorrow.

President Michael Sata, Vice President Dr. Guy Scott and other cabinet Minister were among the officials that signed the book of condolences at the Ghanian Embassy in Zambia after the death of Prof. Atta Mills.

  1. So who is going to pay for Summer Kabimba’s travel expenses? The party or the tax payer? PF get serious we supported you but seriously this misuse of government funds is getting out of hand.

  2. Is Kabimba the delegation leader? I understand that he is more superior than Cabinet ministers. And who is paying for his expenses? Is it the PF or its the Zambian tax payer? Come 2016, we need to get rid of this nonsense.

  3. Why isn’t he attending himself or sending the VP, these are countries which we should benchmark ourselves against not uncle Bob!

  4. Sata is full of insults, it was better not to send anybody than to send something. Maybe its a vacation for Edgar Lungu after sleepless night of deporting priest(s).

  5. Kabimba is VP and so Sata is just in order. The only mistake is that he has sent HOME affairs minister to do FOREIGN duties. Is this deliberate or the man simply does not understand what he is doing.

    • It is a funeral naiwe chikala … he could have sent any cabinet minister and it would be appropriate. I agree with Nubian princess tho, this does not pass the sniff test of newsworthy.

  6. WHEN ARE WE RECEIVING A SIMILAR DELEGATION FROM GHANA FOR A SIMILAR FUNCTION? TB JOSHUA, ANYTHING IN STORE FOR US?

  7. #13, u ll be the first one to go be fore sata. Young pipo like are going fast. Infortunately for you no delegation from anywhere.
