Zambians living in the diaspora have commended President Michael Sata and his administration for embarking on programmes that will contribute greatly to the economic development of the country.

Speaking at separate meetings in Tanzania and Kenya when Minister of Lands, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Wilbur Simuusa and Information Deputy Minister Mwansa Kapeya met the Zambians living in the two countries respectively, representative of the Zambians living in Tanzania, Charles Sumbwe said they were happy with the developments taking place back home.

Mr. Sumbwe who is the chairperson of the Zambians living in Tanzania said the greatest project that has made the Zambians living in Tanzania happy is the Link Zambia 8000 Km road project under the Road Development Agency (RDA).

Mr. Sumbwe said this project will accelerate development in the country as it will link all the provinces and districts once completed.

“Zambia will no longer be a land locked country but a land linked country because of this good road project, “said Mr. Sumbwe.

He said a good road network is a backbone of the nations’ economic development and therefore, projects such as the Link Zambia 8,000 Km deserves full support of all Zambians both abroad and at home.

Mr. Sumbwe further said Zambians are happy with various programmes in the education and health sectors.

The Zambians also commended Government through the National Broadcaster, Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) for installing FM radio transmitters in 25 districts under phase one of the rural television and radio project.

And Information and Broadcasting Deputy Minister Mwansa Kapeya has disclosed that Government has set aside KR 25 million for the establishment of provincial Television stations in all the provinces.

Mr. Kapeya said the project is expected to kick off by May this year in all the province adding that the Government is committed to improve on the flow of communication to its citizens hence the programme to establish rural television stations that will have about 80 percent of local content in their production.

ZNBC intends to install another 25 radio transmitters in other districts countrywide.

  1. Whats wrong with Our Jounalists, why do u think Zambians who are casual working in the diaspora have got a better Judgement than the elite Local Zambians, Why Not Interview institutions like, Institute of BOD, ZICA, EIZ, UNZA, CBU, UoL, and alot more local professionals? Even us CEOs, can have a better say on the economic Environment, Competition etc..

    • I dont think a CEO can have such comment, dont think if you are living in Zambia then you better than those in diaspora. Give a credit were its due, what have you contributed to the economy of Zambia as an individual? COE of which company?

    • Getting Ideas from developed Countries is a very welcome move, Living in Diaspora does not make you a better person/decision maker. I have noticed that Most of us Pipo would rather look down upon our fellow Zambians and praise others, even Sata for appointing pipo like chirwa, some of you are criticising the move…Zambians let us grown out of this inferior shell, u will perish admiring pipo who have a high regard for you.

    • CEO of which organisation? You sound like you are one of those people in the diaspora who do nothing but sweep the streets.I for one I am very happy about the government’s develomental programmes, especially the PROJECT 8000.I visit Zambia every year and I am proud to be a Zambian.Sooner or later I will be returning home to contribute to the development of my beloved country.Roads are the backborn of development of any country and surely with the implimentation of this project is a great start to indeed.CEO grow up and give credit where it belongs.Bravo Sata,Bravo PF government.

  2. Those zambians are living in those two dynamic and more democratic countries with visionary leadership than zed.How could they be so blind especially if we compare the gigantic strides thos two are makin compared to zed?Link 8k can’t compare to Mnazi bay dev’t,can’t compare to Konza city, can’t compete with new JKIA or Songo songo projects.Don’t be blind amazambia ku kenya and Tz.

  3. Appreciate the little that your poor government is offering. $5 billion worth of roads infrastructure by any standard is huge. Mind u, u can’t compare the economic growth of Tanzania and Kenya which have over decades.

    • Tanzania has made very steady progress since leaving the era of socialism just like we left humanism of KK. One important factor has been quality leadership that they have consitently had after Nyerere. Otherwise these are people who were far behind Zambia. I saw Dar about 20 years ago when it was like a big shanty compound. Now, you can’t compare Lusaka city centre to Dar city centre. It seems we simply went into a deep sleep in Zambia.

    • That actually shows the shortcoming of zambia’s project.Zambia its only roads while the other two have more encompassing projects with a wider scope of new railways, new airports, new pwr plants and IT hubs.Zed is just one dimentional like its only roads that matter.

  4. Just let us know wats happening in Kenya, Raira Odinga and his counterparts… Soon there will be blood shed there so be careful… Leave we Zambians living in Zambia talk about our country, thats why Ukwa tells u off wen he visits u..

  5. I know mr sumbwe from his time as my teacher in mafken till he joined ZSIC then on to madison insurance.i hear now he is in dar under sikutwa associates,in short iam saying he can not utter such junk as reported, he can not praise a blunt band of illiterates that includes comedian mwansa kapeya.that speach was just imposed on him to read and he just did it out of courtesy otherwise he cant and am sure up to now he is still hurt

    • Deny it, but here it is on record, he said it. Call him and find out if he believed in what he said or go fetch the damn journalist who qouted him to verify if the message came from his mouth.

You may have some misgivings but it does not mean there are no positive things hapenning. Just tell me, do you think the Link Zambia 8000 is a bad thing or not?

    • Iwe chi Zulu you don’t think, Siuganiza! Answer the question ngwele. Is Link Zambia 8000 a bad idea? Otherwise you are a rabid dog in the village worth being gunned down by a Vet.

I can tell that you are one of those leeches terminated from sucking Zambia’s blood to death. You have been rebased mutwe obe…kekekekekeke

  6. Give praise where it is due. Living in diaspora does not mean one can not contribute or comment on the positive projects at home. The so called developed countries did not become developed over night, they began from somewhere. We too have to begin from somewhere and the 8000 km link Zambia is a positive embarkment. Get over your inferiority complex and be positive for once.

  7. I don’t plan to give strength to the perception of uselessness just because I don’t like a government but for those who do that’s your prerogative. Where exactly will all the cyber venting take us? The speed of issues over a two week period shows that each topic raises passion but by next week it is forgotten and another one lies in its place. Solutions, active willingness to make a difference and credit where credit is due might actually improve our interaction but hey… I’m a closet cynic.

  8. iTS LIKE ONLY ZAMBIANS LIVING IN TANZANIA WERE THE ONLY ONES INTERVIEWD , WHAT ABOUT A STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF ZAMBIANS LIVING IN KENYA? The title seems to suggest that both countries TZ and Kenya have zambians who appreciate SATA’S GOVT. On behalf of the zambians living in the diaspora, not in africa but PURE DIASPORA, i would like to congratulate the good works SATA and his team are doing, please dont waste your time answering questions from the opposition leaders Go ahead with your development programmes let them talk talk talk and talk

  9. I don’t think intellectuals who in real “DIASPORA ” such as USA and UK would heed to such propaganda , they know nothing is making sense in zambia , go to western union and attempt to send money to zed just exchange rate will warn u ati zabwino pa libe pa zed. Am glad it’s guys from tunduma across nakonde yapping

  10. They are in Tanzania and Kenia, what do you expect, silly cow?
Ati Zambians in diaspora -Tanzania and Kenia, shuwa shuwa!?
How in the hell can you be proud living in Tanzania and Kenia?:;===
